Just wanted to mention it because I like it (and it just showed up so I was reminded of it), but this
is my desktop background. Well, one of currently 71...
It was interesting for me to learn that, apparently, episode 1 was mostly filler, as the LN readers from the local (Asuki) listed what was changed — and who was left out, specifically in Kurumi's scene.
Funnily enough, a good deal of the complaints were about Touka's behavior (which flew over my head, as I'm not familiar with the source, and to be fair, she's an idiot anyway), or rather how it apparently did a hundred and eighty-degree turn compared to how she was in the equivalent LN chapter.
Suffice to say, it completely ignored whatever Character Development she had in volume 2 (Yoshino's arc).
"Vegeta, what is the square root of a number greater than eighty-one million?" "IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!!" *crushes calculator*![]()
Basically, the only things from the light novel were the minor conversation after Origami's trial and her conversation in the bathroom. Pretty much everything else was original and involved overuse of of IdiotBalls.
They still left out something from Kurumi's scene Who she was talking to.
There is a ton of stuff like that. Kotori's parents also. One could assume they work for Ratatoskr, but I don't think it's ever been mentioned. Reine is an obvious Chekhov's Gunman, Kurumi seems to know a bunch of stuff, anything with the bordering dimension, etc.
The series is actually surprisingly internally consistent given how odd the premise is(and by urban fantasy LN standards), so most of these seem to come out eventually. One of the more random seeming elements will be explained by the end of this arc.

Reine is a Chekhov's Gunman? The only thing I can think of that would really indicate that is her saying she hasn't slept in 30 years in the LN(the same time the first spacequake occured.)
MMORPGs are serious business. She kind of of seems a little too important for that. Not very important, but she's still had plenty of screentime, and she has a good reason to have the role she has.
Check out my fanfiction!I just read the novel, and whatever it was, I think I missed it. Are you talking about why Kannazuki is the Vice-Commander, despite his personality?
Fire, air, water, earth...legend has it that when these four elements are gathered, they will form the fifth element...boron.Nah, their memories are separate from hers so she doesn't lose her memories when they get killed. When she later revives them using her powers (she can do that) they retain their memories from before they died.
"Vegeta, what is the square root of a number greater than eighty-one million?" "IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!!" *crushes calculator*That sounds really confusing. Like if they were clones or something, it'd be straightforward enough, but they're temporal doubles, so…
Well, I mean, killing you past self to protect your present self is already pretty wonky if you spend any length of time thinking about it. Adding in weird memory shenanigans on top of that…
Ehh, whatever. It's not like I was really ever pretending I understood how her power worked.
Episode 2 seems to tell me that this has a lot more budget issues than I thought (though it's hard for me to pinpoint particularly why the animation looks bad) and the pacing feels worse than the first season, probably since for whatever reason this is also only 10 episodes. On the other hand, they could just be trying to get the less important stuff out of the way for the fight scenes or something, but the very first one we're shown isn't promising.
Also the new opening feels extremely generic.

MMORPGs are serious business.Episode 2. In which Yoshino has a lot of free time.
Well, at least she's a more convincing male than Jeanne.
I'll admit, Origami's logic is surprisingly sound in its lunacy.
Okay, that's impressive. She somehow to managed fangirl while saying something's lame.
Was she disgusted by what he said to his "love", or because she didn't get the last word about something being lame?
Wastebaskets and Tohka do not mix. They do clash, though.
Saying lol is probably a fair bit more insulting than actually laughing.
Reine's good at covering up.
Well, I know who I'd choose. Yuzuru. If I had to pick one of those two. Otherwise I'd pick what he probably will.
So, Reine's telling them she'll teach them how to deal with him? That's a bit... I wonder what her plan is. Well, she didn't teach them anything about actually seducing him.
Gotta hand it to Tohka, there. Her worst thought was that she wasn't the first, but the fourth into the bath.
"Oh, look! A distraction!" Works every time.
I think we have a lame count of seven or something. Give or take one. Gotta be a record.
Not the best episode or anything, but Tohka was a lot better here than in the first episode. Not that that says a lot. Otherwise it sort of felt like a mid/late Breather Episode that was split up in two for some strange reason.
Check out my fanfiction!New OP song: I like the new OP song. I think I liked the first one a bit better, but this is good also. I always ignored the visuals anyway. Kurumi was funny though.
This is one of those things where you never know what will turn out to be foreshadowing.
When they said they never competed in this....they were telling the truth wern't they.
Aw, they cut the best part from the bath scene: Where Origami was during all this.
I'm guessing they have to give Yoshino lines every episode for contract reasons or something.
ED is a reference to one from the first sesason that had Tohka in the same pose I think. This show has always been really lazy with the endings. I suppose if you gotta save money, it's not a bad place to do it.
I've seen contradictory information that is 10/12 episodes. Hope for 12 as 10 seems like it would be really rushed.
Last season felt a bit rushed. (They did one LN in 2 episodes). So I was hoping this one would be a bit better paced.

I did say before (in a different thread
) that episode 1 was more of an Out-of-Character Moment for Tohka.

"Vegeta, what is the square root of a number greater than eighty-one million?" "IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!!" *crushes calculator*Episode 2:
- Surprising. Tohka's a man, so Shido has to become a girl. But wait, Tohka only became a man to...forget it.
- Affirmative. Ellen's not someone to mess with. But thanks to those three girls, even she's not safe from the comedy vacuum. If only she wasn't a camerawoman...
- Sudden hurricane, and Tohka got trash canned! That's a lot of ouchies.
- Intriguing. Kotori's off somewhere. And Kyohei's manning the brig. The Ratarosk memebers must be saying "This is going to suck."
- Kaguya and Yuzuru did a lot of rivalry stuff over the century. Even simple things. It wouldn't be exciting if the rivalry only consisted of destructive methods.
- Amusing. Kaguya saying LOL with a straight face was funny. Well, her jabs at Yuzuru were funny in general. But man, all that arguing gnawed at Shido's soul!
- Tohka's biggest concern was not calling dibs on entering the bath.
- Reine's plan's...working, right?
- The Yoshi duo do have a lot of time on their hands. They shouldn't spend it watching a soap opera that may or may not be relevant to the situation at hand.
Now I want to try to be impressed while saying "It's lame."
...
Nope, can't do it. Nya ha!
for some strange reason
I find yoshinon wearing the same clothes as yoshino in episode 2 to look absurdly adorable and I have no idea why
I wonder what yoshino does most of the time really(out of everyone she's probably the one with the least agency on-screen) since she doesn't go to school or seem to be anywhere not shidou's house or fraxinus alone(pretty sure we've never seen the inside of the apartment the spirits live in)
MMORPGs are serious business.

I don't think Origami is meant to be a serious romantic option. She is one of those characters who's main value is the reactions they create in others. I don't think your really supposed to like her.
DAL as whole is basically "What sort of crazy world would you need to actually create a dataing-game like scenario"...and the answer is: Girls who are really, really broken. Origami is no exception there.
