So in this episode, we learned that the Fraxinus Crew can't even figure out how to appeal to a basic Type A Tsundere. Wow. They are really bad at their jobs.

Second episode was better. Probably.

I mean we did get past the training quickly.

Though the girl is like every other proud warrior girl I've seen. And by that I mean she's like Saber, of course.

Well the super-effective proposal was kinda amusing.

[up][up] Haven't seen the episode yet myself, but... This episode should be the closest Tohka will ever get to being called Tsundere. From here on out, she's pretty strictly locked in at Bakadere, tops.

[up][up] Yeah, I think cutting that training short was very much for the best. Any longer and it would have overstayed its welcome.

[up][up] Not calling it a bad thing, but that doesn't exactly differentiate her.

Not so much tsundere as legitimately suspicious and curious. I'm wondering if I should call the Fraxinus Crew Genre Blind, or Wrong Genre Savvy. She's quite clearly an Innocent Alien who packs more punch than anything human, and will retaliate if forced to. Which they do. Now, there may still be more to her nature, but as far as her personality goes, letting Shido do what feels natural to him would be the best way to go. Like any normal anime romcom lead.

There's some intrinsic truth to the individual surpassing the committee in this situation. But military command structures being what they are, it only makes sense they would opt for the long and unintuitive way involving lots of people and the operative constantly checking with command for orders.

Yeah, I don't think Tohka ever was a tsundere. And since they trained him with galge, they should have realised he'd already tripped a few of her flags.

As anything resembling military, it's a joke, so I couldn't really see it like that. Those loser experts aren't military anyway, and neither is Shido. They also fail at basics in defusing dangerous situations.

Looks like Infinite Stratos with non-human entities that look and act human.

Or Busou Shinki upsized with non-human entities that look and act human.

I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.

I guess the highlight of the second episode for me was him talking to Origami.

After watching second episode I have to compliment this show. It is better than Guilty Crown. And maybe two of its jokes were actualy funny!

Quick question: Which adaptation is the most faithful to the original light novel? I wanna get into this series, it sounds interesting....

[up]

Right now I'd say the manga is slightly more faithful, but it got cancelled due to author health and the anime will overtake it next episode.

Episode 2: Way better than the first, but it can do a lot better. Seriously. It's always "kind of amusing" instead of actually funny, which I consider a shame considering the silliness of the premise. There should also be more cool stuff.

The little things:

  • Aaaand of course the teacher's worried about the christmas cake scenario.
  • Tobiichi's actually kind of interesting; her conversation with Shido was... enlightening, in various ways. Touka, too, but in a "generic haremette" way.
  • Heh, "mahal kita". I also quite like the moniker "the man beyond dimensions". I'm still not fond of the Fraxinus crew, and I wish whatever's up with the little sister will be explained soon.
  • The only alternative to killing her is making her fall in love? Uhh, there's this thing called being friends, guys.
  • Great OP, sucky ED.

Honestly, the premise of the show is quite silly. But that's never stopped me from enjoying something.

I'm questioning my taste now, but episode 3 was pretty enjoyable.

The actual date with a spiritual incarnation capable of great destruction! Big Eating! A sniper; a Death, resurrection; and kiss!

I am somehow reminded of Rewrite.

Mind you, next episode is looking more clichéd with the whole setting moving back to boring high school. But who knows at this point.

His 'sister' is actually the first Spirit he encountered. Things happened that somehow she got to give him some of her regenerative abilities. I think. LOL

Episode 3:

  • The date was boring (it did make me hungry though). The crane game scene could have been amusing, but it just sort of happened.
  • "Take my hand. That's all you need to do for now." Those scenes were actually very cool.
  • Shido having regenerative powers wasn't really a surprise.
  • I'd really like to know how and why a kiss can stop an out-of-control Helvenhal. Oh, and good use of the OP song there.
  • I really appreciate that Tohka becoming a transfer student was a really short post-credits scene. As if it's telling us "You already knew this was gonna happen".

Not terribly fond of the adaption this episode. They changed a bunch of stuff, including deleting a scene that provides a good bit of background about Shido and Kotori. They REALLY toned down Tohka's power. In the LN, she blows through the AST Team like they're not even there, destroys a bunch of scenery, and shatters Origami's Barrier Field in one blow. Origami also puts up a bit more of a fight. It's not a huge deal, but it really sells the point on why the AST isn't the right solution to the problem.

On the other hand, the scene around the ten minute mark provides nice foreshadowing for the next arc.
