Both were mentioned in the anime...but like once each. Really, pacing has been a problem the whole time.
and ![]()
To be exact they were mentioned near the end of season 1 and near the start of season 2. The first time, they realised that 'something' was responsible for both Kotori becoming a Spirit and the Itsuka siblings' memory blanks.
The second time, they decided to name this 'something' 'Phantom'.
In this episode (9) it was stated that Phantom (apparently) turned Miku into a Spirit.
In other words, they're not spoilers, unless you didn't watch the episodes.
What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.Phantom has technically already been mentioned in the anime—it's just that they weren't given as much focus as they were in the novels.
It's really only a spoiler if you intend to read the novels from volume one, in which case I'd highly recommend avoiding the anime period (Though I suppose it's a bit too late for that...)
Fire, air, water, earth...legend has it that when these four elements are gathered, they will form the fifth element...boron.Would Shido and Tohka be able to independently summon/use Sandalphon at the same time?
So, I just discovered the dubbed version of season. Not sure how long it's actually been out, but all the episodes have been available on the site I download my anime from since this past Wednesday (the 11th).
So far I think it's decent. If you guys have seen it, what do you think?

What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.I have to say that considering the rest of season 2, the last episode was well done to the point of leaving me impressed (in how it didn't feel at all rushed or anything.)
I found the fight scene between Ellen and Inverse Tohka to be kind of underwhelming, but this show doesn't really put much focus on that to begin with. I also feel that it would have been better if they removed the opening to expand a little bit more on how Miku felt when Shidou saved her, but what they did do did get enough of the point across.
MMORPGs are serious business.Y'know, I find Miku to be a lot less interesting- and, arguably, less likeable- now that I know her backstory.
Like, my image of her was that she was so used to getting her way with everything and everyone that she honestly didn't realize she was doing anything wrong, but nope, she has a full set of human memories, and thus should have a functioning concept of morality, but she's still perfectly willing to cause a spacequake because she wanted a bit of alone time, have a breakdown because she lost a bet, and mind control the entire town basically out pure pettiness.
And then nobody holds any of that against her, and her backstory basically amounts to 'nobody's time in the spotlight lasts forever.'
Miku's really just feeling too "fuck you guys" to give enough of a shit about them, and her backstory is a tad more specific. I felt that the main point of it was how she felt betrayed by how people weren't actually interested in her songs so much as her status, when she was valuing her music over everything. Apparently she lost her voice as a result of the trauma from that betrayal too, which meant she couldn't even make music for herself alone anymore. Though the lyrics to her music (shown at the end of episode 10) certainly tell me that she wasn't too good at making them.
The weirdest part to me about Miku is that she hates men because all they care about is sex or something, yet that's pretty much the exact same way she's treating girls herself.
MMORPGs are serious business.Episode 10. In which there's a song.
That's probably the shortest Cold Open I've seen. Or pre-OP bit, as it doesn't really qualify for anything other than a blip.
She's standing, well, hovering, still, and isn't hit by anything at all? I know what academy is responsible for that.
A reasonable retreat. Rare.
Like the sword wasn't ridiculously large to begin with.
Time for tsun is over. Time for dere.
Okay, I'll admit that being surprising. She kissed him, and wasn't mad about losing her clothes because of it. Because she already knew about it.
The song's kind of bland, but at least it sounds better than previously. That somewhat shrill aspect to her voice works better here.

I never had the impression she didn't know what she was doing. It also doesn't bother me that she's forgiven. For one, we've not seen everyone's reactions, and two, we don't know who knows about her in enough detail to have something to forgive. And Shido is Shido.
She's a bit of a hypocrite, yes.
The ones who may know enough about her like Ratatoskr are also all about keeping spirits from causing greater harm with nonviolent means, even when that spirit is Kurumi. If they didn't forgive her and kept an uncomfortable atmosphere around her, her emotional state would probably destabilize and cause her spirit powers to return as well.
MMORPGs are serious business.I didn't even include that crew in my thoughts for that reason. They're acting as professionals (however unprofessional they often act) with a mission, so it's that mission that matters, not personal feelings.
Check out my fanfiction! Also, I actually think that they could have made an interesting followup with Miku, after her realization here and with another that would get her to look back at what she did and how she felt that would fill her with guilt and basically extend her arc because she can no longer forgive herself even if no one else has a problem with it.
But this isn't a show about Miku in particular, so I suppose that would be drawing her out too much when there are other spirits to deal with.
MMORPGs are serious business.'I'm misanthropic because blah blah blah trauma' is inherently less interesting to me than 'I do bad things without real malice because morality is a foreign concept to me'.
Like, that ring toss scene, where she misses with the ring, and then just tells the people behind the counter to give her the prize she wanted. It looked to me like she was just trying to get a gift of Shiori, and was honestly surprised when her date had a problem with theft. What I thought was that that scene was a very revealing little moment- that that was her idea of doing something nice for someone, and how the fact that she can do that has warped her perception of people to the point where she sees nothing wrong with it. But if her problem was just 'grah, people are awful', how am I supposed to take that scene? If the intended reaction was as simple as 'she's arrogant and a sore loser', then I'm quite not left with a whole lot of reason to be interested or positivity disposed towards the character.
I'm not really calling inconsistency here, exactly, it's more that I thought she was an interesting character with an understandable reason for acting like a bitch, but then we got a backstory for her that was designed to build sympathy, but if fact showed that I had been giving her too much credit on both counts, and thus had the opposite effect.
The show was trying to say 'see? Miku's a less terrible person than she first appeared to be!' and it made me say 'Oh, so Miku's more of a terrible person than I thought she was, and I thought she was pretty bad'.
I think it's pretty high, but I've no evidence for that beyond how they treated something that makes as much money as Date A Live the way they did in the second season.
MMORPGs are serious business.I don't think Miku's entirely likeable, and I think she's better for it. I kind of like it when characters aren't entirely redeemed.
Anyway, I wonder what Tick-Tock was actually looking for. She mentioned it, and that was about all we heard about it. Randomly, it wouldn't surprise me if she's already inversed.
By the way, not exactly new (so someone might've posted it but I've not seen it), but there are stats for the characters according to some poster from almost a year ago, which I've been led to believe is official (may not be, though). Not going to link it, because it's a bit NSFW. Interesting to note is the Tohka is by far the strongest, and by far the dumbest, Miku has the lowest overall stats, and Tick-Tock is the most intelligent (followed by Kotori and Yoshino).

x4,
x6 Basically, the trama turned Miku into a sociopath with no concept of morality. Recovering her faith in humanity basically turned her back. So I think you were kinda right both ways.

Kurumi was searching for the Second Spirit, bc it supposedly knows where the first spirit is being held. She didn't find it though.
The pretty consistent Religious and Mythological Theme Naming makes it unlikely that Kurumi is inversed.

Power levels in this seem to work like they do in Fate/stay night. Sort of like Saber being the strongest, I would take them with a grain of salt.
I have no clue how they would make a movie out of this. You could drop Yoshino's arc from the first season, but it still seems like the pacing would be just brutal. I have no clue how you would do it.

Episode 10:
- Hmph. Quite the send-off you received, Jessie. But whatever.
- Ellen sure is confident in her ability to take on Inverse Tohka. I wonder if she will back up her bark once they square off again? If it happens again.
- A tactical retreat also involves the opposing party cleaning up after you. If they can. Clever, Ikey-boy.
- That raw power.
- After all's said and done, Miku's faith in humanity has been restored.
- And so, this time, she sang a song with her soul. Her real voice.
- There goes Kurumi, spinning and twirling into the shadows...
- No Ai-Mai-Mii trio at the end? That's so lame.
Huh? There's a movie? Will it cover another volume, or will it be a compilation of the anime?

So, is Tohka the strongest in terms of brute force or overall? I'm not sure. By what we've seen so far in the anime, I'd guess Kotori or Yamai would be second strongest in terms of power.
Yoshino/n have a huge Angel with an even larger AOE and can freeze Territories solid, and according to season 1 her 'shotgun blizzard' actually uses enemy Territories/Realizers as a power boost.
And of course, Kurumi is potentially hax.
Although, how does You-Know-Who from Volume 10 compare in terms of power.
I'm annoyed that season 1's intro lied to me. I wanted to see Tohka vs Kurumi. But Kotori vs Kurumi was also a good fight.

Well, that's not really saying a lot. I wonder more about what's special about it and what her goal is. It's a walnut I'd like to crack.

Probably. Mostly only because of their ridiculous agility. Though it's not as if I put any stock into stats like that. Just find them interesting.
I don't think it's likely Tick-Tock is inversed either, but it's just that I wouldn't be surprised if she was, to clarify.
