No, wait, now it's from Atlantis.
No, wait, now it's saying from Peyton Place.
No, wait, now it's from the dark, since it appears I'm about to be eaten by a gr
We Are Our Avatars Forever (Now on Discord by invitation, PM)As notice, the locations are also randomized. Tel and I (and whoever wants to help) are trying to put together a list of all the locations here.
The avvie is from The Matrix, Mr. Smith, apparently.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWe were told to number the location list. Epileptic Trees as to what that means, people?
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Smith infections are the worst, it takes a Messiah to end those.
Room 101? Oh no.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it....Where am I?..where are my pants?
New theme music also a boxI am possibly in California and on ship.
I will flip my avvie accordingly.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI fail to see the connection between Agent Smith and location flux. :/ If the avatar was a Flux Bauble or something similar, it'd make sense.
Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman.edit: never mind, answered my own question

Diggin' the references this time around more than last year, I'll say that much.
Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman.Dang, I didn't even notice that the locations had been switched around.
Reaction Image RepositorySome of them should've been written to fit the "From ___" format better, but oh well.
The images could use a method to fit them better into the post so that it doesn't look squashed, too, but it's a minor quibble really.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanVery cute. And it's fun without being disruptive, so points for that.
Stupid doomed timeline...This sounds like the intro to a porno...
Don't make me destroy you. @ Castle SeriesWell, one of the locations is "behind the green door"... I presume that's not an intentional reference to the adult film of the same name from the 1970s, but perhaps I'm wrong...
I've become addicted to refreshing forum pages to see if any new locations show up - I only recognise the source of about two-thirds of them (where there are sources to recognise), but they do seem to encompass every major medium covered on the site. Films, television series, animation both western and (I presume) eastern (wouldn't know a reference to the latter if I fell over one), literature, comic books, music, webcomics, video games, even real life. Colour me very impressed.
(Some of my personal favourites include "having dinner with Hannibal - oh good, fava beans!" (best not to ask about the meat), "in the Sistine Chapel, awaiting conclave" (you will now please address me as "Your Eminence"), "Strolling across Abbey Road" (having just resurrected Paul or on the way to bury him, haven't decided), and "in the dark, likely to be eaten by a grue" (somehow every game of Zork I play ends up there). And I seem to discover new ones all the time...)
(EDITED TO RECORD: When I first made this post, my location showed up for me as "from Russia, with love". If you'll excuse me, Robert Shaw appears to be trying to kill me, must run.)

We're compiling a list here.
Ooh wow, thanks Nocturna. (I haven't yet seen "the back of the bomb. YAAAAAAHOOOOOOOO!" yet, which is a pity; Dr. Strangelove is one of my favourite films of all time.)
mlsmithca: I 'll give you guys "behind the Green Door", since it does have that reference collision we didn't catch while we were making the list. No, it wasn't intended to refer to the film, I was, rather, thinking of the Jim Lowe song, from 1956:
However I think that it's great that some of the references that have been identified are not what we had in mind, but are just as valid. It makes me happy to see the breadth of knowledge among tropers. Sometimes it starts feeling like we have very few people who have experience outside a couple of narrow forms of work.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
OK, here it's still 31th of March, but I assume correctly that this year the joke is all moderators having this◊ avvie?
Cuz this is what I am seeing now.
