Limits on thread creation are something we should have had in place for a long time, but only recently implemented. The limit is generous enough that it should be reached only in extremely rare situations.
We already have a throttling system for new accounts that is far more restrictive; the spam wave you're referring to came from an established user.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Nope, this particular anti-spam measure has nothing to do with IP addresses. At least that I know of.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I tried to create a new thread after not having made one in months and it flipped out on me, so I have no idea what's going on here.
Seriously, can't a man just start a conversation about an obscure web comic around here...?
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.I seem to be having some trouble adding a new YKTTW.
My first attempt seemed to go through but it didn't appear in the YKTTW list, it seems the system ate it.
Second try gives me a HTTP 405 Not Allowed error.
Third try was a charm though.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.

At least two people (Ninety
and Shane
) have reported not being able to make new threads. They get a message telling them they are creating new threads too frequently despite not having done so in ages. I think it may be related to a spammer I hear hit the fora a few days ago. Can this be put somewhere on the list of Things To Fix In The Very Near Future, When The DDOS Attack And Such Things Are Over?

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.
