Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

Up until this point, I kept reading Subverted Rhyme Every Occasion as Subverted Rhyme On Every Occasion.
Edit: Never mind.

I got a rock for Halloween. You ever read through your old edits and are filled with infinite despair?
Read Pokemon Ultimate EmeraldThe table format
used to be on a few other pages, you can see it on Super Weight (though not for examples), but it's fallen out of use because the site's software tends to mangle it badly, not only on phone screens but even on normal computer screens.

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.
That's why TRS changed Dueling Works to use bullet points instead of tables. The old table format for those pages often rendered columns with each line containing either one word or just part of a word (in the latter case, with the other parts of the word being on at least one additional line) because of how ugly it was.
Edit: Regarding what was said about that being the case for both mobile and desktop, I only post and edit on desktop and not mobile and the tables were still hard to follow before they were replaced.

x4 My earliest edits are OK, though they have some formatting and tonal issues. I often try to learn as much as I can about how something works before I jump into it so that I don't make an ass of myself.
Now, the TLP, on the other hand, I jumped into without understanding anything and made the egregious mistake that so many other newbies do, thinking that the TLP is more of a "Hey, here's an idea for a trope! Someone should make that!" forum than a rigorous guideline on how to launch new tropes yourself. By providence someone else did want to make the trope I was suggesting (it became Mantis Mating Meal), so I was able to see what a good TLP draft looked like very quickly, but still.

Wenn sie die Ente hierein lassen, lasse ich das Wasser hieraus! My first TLP draft was successful (became Ghostly Animals) since I read through the page on how to make a good draft. Now what tripped me was the belief that I could do animal morality tropes. Needless to say I learned my lesson quickly. Also did a trope draft on present day dinosaur civilisations which also floundered quickly (something to do with it being covered by other tropes).
My first (and so far only) TLP draft was somehow successful despite the fact that I abandoned it.
Unless someone just proposed the same Trope as me later.
It was Fantastic Terrorists.

Read Pokemon Ultimate EmeraldI had been reading the wiki for a while before making an account (not this one, an earlier one), and I have always been meticulous and articulate in my writing, so I didn't commit any egregious mistakes. My early faults were more of omission: partly that I lacked the courage to remove natter or misuse (there weren't as many cleanup threads back then), and worse than that, I never cross-wicked.
But while I have left many contributions on the wiki, I have never been able to make a TLP draft with any traction.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years. The AwesomeMusic/ and FanficRecs/ namespaces might be the only areas on the wiki where the Weblinks Are Not Examples rule takes a backseat (for the most part, anyway).
Currently Reading: N/AYeah, that's a bad thing and we've been trying for years to enforce proper context in those areas. Linking to videos for context isn't valid no matter where you are, but certain areas are harder to police.
Edit: Well, Fanfic Recs is a bit different since you aren't writing examples. But the Awesome Music stuff has been a wiki bugbear for a while

To play devil's advocate for Awesome Music ZCEs, in my experience as an avid Awesome Music example adder it really is difficult sometimes to say "this music is really awesome because..." five different times without repeating yourself or sounding like a drooling idiot. Obviously just dumping a link isn't the solution, but it requires more eloquence in describing something than the average example requires. AM examples and pages are probably the stuff I try to draft out beforehand the most.
Oh, I'm not disagreeing there. Adding context to those is notoriously hard, which is part of why enforcing context has been hard as well. A lot of people just can't describe music well; I certainly can't

There's nothing preventing from making a thread if two people are in the new thread form at 74.
So I only just now realized that my image suggestion for Sole Surviving Scientist actually went through.
Welcome To Ideals' WorldHere's a question: are there any tropes that are newer than you expected them to be? Gloomy Gray has only been around since 2020, but it feels like a concept that is established enough that it should have been around longer. Are there any tropes anyone here has noticed that are like that?
On an unrelated note, the quote on Egging is from the exact source I was thinking of when I saw the trope. Big fan of the Beastie Boys so I approve.

Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallYeah, Gloomy Gray was mine. I was surprised nobody had made it before.
Some tropes just seem so obvious that nobody's actually thought to make them, and then when someone does, everyone is like "we didn't have this yet?!"
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallCyber Green didn't exist until 2022, and "Life-Giving Oasis" is only now being put through TLP.
Tbh I never really hated his minigames in the original, but they did make them better in the remake.I have an idea for an image for Common Crossover, but my idea in concept requires bits of fanart and I'm not sure how the procedure goes for those cases. Should I just come up with my idea, pop it into the suggestion thread, and then if it's received well get the actual perms to use it?

Welcome To Ideals' WorldI remember being surprised that Cannot Kill Their Loved Ones is only three years old.
Burly Blacksmith is one I thought for sure we would have had, it's an extremely common fantasy archetype
