Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

Hugtto Precure USED TO have Criasu Corp named as "Dark Tomorrow Corporation". This is a made up name that isnt official at all. I was going to put in on the relevant thread but I checked the page and all references to this made up term were removed already. One less problem lol.
As long as this flower is in my heart. My Strength will flow without end.I find it interesting how Letterbox, Pan and Scan, and Visual Compression feature the same image with slight variations.
Currently Reading: N/ACan things go wrong with edit histories in very old TLPs? I ask because this one
seems to have spent only 24 seconds in TLP, but the comments' timestamps clearly show it was at least three months.

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.Everything pre 2016 is unstable. You can report it as a bug, but it only affects old TLP I don't think it will be worked on.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI'm a bit late in responding, but since that TLP draft's history is blank, I'm guessing TLP drafts' histories were purged in the early '10s like the histories for wiki articles were (I've previously mentioned that my history only goes back to 2011 even though I joined in 2008), but I could be mistaken since I'm not active on TLP. Timeline.TV Tropes doesn't provide any insight; it mentions the cutoff for wiki pages' history and it mentions that the history pages for TLP drafts were overhauled in 2021 to work more like the history pages for wiki pages, but doesn't list any earlier changes to TLP history pages.
Edit: I can't help but wonder if the reason for the odd timestamp is due to September 2, 2010, being a placeholder for drafts that predate a cutoff page for timestamps, similarly to accounts that predate registration dates being recorded saying they were made in either 2001 or 1969 (usually the former), and articles made before the site started recording page creation dates saying they were made in 2007.

I got a rock for Halloween. It's been said that repeatedly following the first link on a page on Wikipedia will eventually bring you to the Philosophy article. Now, this is highly unlikely to be true in all cases — it's too easy to create a short, disconnected loop somewhere — but this sort of process does tend to let most of the starting states converge on the same outcome.
I was wondering what you find if you run the exercise on this wiki. I'm not counting external links, images, or image captions, but am otherwise generous as far as what's part of the article. This is the first loop I came across, with 20 pages:
JustForFun.Describe Topic Here
Shaped Like Itself (since the joke page starts off by referencing its own joke)
Theatre.Antony And Cleopatra (the Trope Namer)
Older Than Steam (justification for Administrivia.Spoilers Off)
The Oldest Ones in the Book (title of navigation box)
Literature.Book Of Ecclesiastes (quote source)
Literature. The Bible (title of navigation box)
VideoGame.Barkley Shut Up And Jam Gaiden (quote source)
Running Gag (referencing the same quote)
Series.The Muppet Show (quote source)
UsefulNotes. The American Dream (linked in quote)
Pretentious Latin Motto ("E Pluribus Unum")
JustForFun.TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life (example translated motto)
Tropers.Dmmaus (quote source)
Webcomic.Irregular Webcomic (created by)
Suspiciously Specific Denial (linked in quote, as in original source)
JustForFun.Describe Topic Here
Main.Media eventually gets to that same loop (entering at UsefulNotes.United States), but Main.Tropes (passing through Website.TV Tropes) ends up on Just for Fun.Hello and Trope Namers, which use the same opening quote to link to each other.
The Random Trope button took me to Kick Them While They're Down, which terminated in a period-3 cycle over Sitcom, Home Movies, Animated Sitcom. (The path there was rather exciting, too.)
ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NO![]()
We have a forum game for this somewhere but I forget its name.
I have an example of Heartwarming in Hindsight that I really want to add but dont feel confident that it would go through so I will share it here.
- The Pokemon The Series Japanese ending song "Pocket Ni Fantasy" (Fantasy in the Pocket) is about an adult female narrator and some kids singing about the past and the future. When the kids hear that the narrator wants to catch all the Pokemon like the kids they think its weird but it's not wrong. This detail went from just being a wink to the Periphery Demographic to a much more touching reality when kids from back then grew up and still loved Pokemon like they did back then. And even more heartwarming when you know that no one knew if Pokemon would amount to anything more than a fad and didnt know that it would endure over the years like it did.

- Checked the first 50 pages of forum games and can't find it? Or I missed it.

Yep, page 25 of the Forum Games thread: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=16554769150A74173400&page=1
If we wanna play, any reason we can't Necro it? Since it is relevant, after all?

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Here are the forum rules on necroing threads, since they're relevant here:
- On thread necromancy versus the creation of new threads: Neither one is de facto "bad form" here. Either is acceptable, depending on the thread and why it's being brought up again.
- If the new post is in response to something relevant in the old thread, it makes more sense to necro the old one rather than try to recap the whole previous discussion.
- If the new post is tangential or only partially related to the old thread, making a new thread may make more sense.
- If the old thread degenerated into a fight or shitposting, there's no point in trying to necro it — it will simply pick back up with fighting or shitposting, 95 times out of a hundred.
- On the left-hand side of the forum, it's almost always preferable to necro an old thread in Trope Repair or Image Picking than to make a new one.
- The only things close to rules that we have about necro'ing an old thread is "don't necro just for lulz" and "don't necro to continue a fight."
Lack of mod hat intentional because I'm not very familiar with Forum Games, so I'm not sure whether it would be OK, so maybe someone more familiar with Forum Games (not necessarily a mod; any Forum Games regulars who are active here might be able to provide some insight) could chime in on this one.

I got a rock for Halloween.Come next year
, either WesternAnimation. The Cat In The Hat or Film. The Cat In The Hat is gonna become a disambiguation page.

Necroing old forum games is fairly common, if you can find them - I recently revived the Lyrics Association game after it had been dead for some years because it was still on my watchlist and I missed it.
Thanks for clarifying that. I personally wouldn't have a problem with it since it's been done before, plus the thread isn't that old anyway (it was made last year).
Well, Necro'd
with a 2-cycle loop before bed!
See ya after the sun rises, perhaps!

National Anthem isn't NRLEP, so I don't see a problem with that page having the video examples you're referring to (in terms of what's allowed in general, not whether there are any other types of problems with specific videos). The videos of real life examples at least sometimes link to Useful Notes pages for the countries as secondary pages (similarly to fictional examples listing the source work as a secondary page), but they're still primarily listed as examples of National Anthem rather than listing Useful Notes pages as tropes.
Edit: I should probably mention that I don't handle video moderation, so a mod or engineer who does handle it would probably know more about this than I do. (This post just being my thoughts on the matter is why the mod hat was left off.)

I got a rock for Halloween.I guess I was thinking of UsefulNotes/ being used in the vein of illustrating a trope rather than illustrating a work (though in this case the work is a nonfictional subject).
Characters/ pages still can't have video examples, right?
When you're alone I'm reaching out to let you know that you're far from strangers, like the saviorYou know I'm fucked up when I come across media in a dream that doesn't exist IRL and Dream-Me starts writing a TV Tropes entry for it in my dream-mind.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

Some of the best parts of the TVTropes ISOT Mapgame
are:
- The batshit insane Crack Fic levels Massive Multiplayer Crossover
- How it took 71 years for a neolithic civilization to achieve commercial space travel.
- The sheer crazy Serial Escalation as the thread started with the first humans having the first human baby to a damn Kaiju fight where the thread's go-to superhero group (which is the closest thing to The Avengers/Justice League in the thread) had to deal with.
CG for short
