Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

Not here.
There's a white space now inside the edit menu, but I think that's just an ad-related glitch.

Apparently the admins are testing a new format on half of all traffic. So it's a crapshoot if you get it or not. I don't particularly like it and hope it doesn't become permanent.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallYeah, some people are seeing the changes while others aren't. Nothing's changed for me and I dunno what the sidebar for the new layout is supposed to look like (beyond the screenshots of it missing) but I guess we will see later.

Macron's notesIt's there, it's just hidden under "resources".
I'm mostly just angry that the bulletin has been removed, and the folder system does screw with my navigation. It's also just empty and sad (though that may be because I'm ad free)
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallPersonally, I just go straight to the forums to go to TRS and IP. I didn't even notice that they were on the sidebar until now.
Macron's notesCan't wait for the turf war to break out between those with the old sidebar and those with the new one.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I have the forums, ATT, and the TLP bookmarked so that I can just bounce between them. It's why I don't follow threads.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall![]()
Meanwhile, we follow the heck out of threads and pages and have our followed lists bookmarked
I just have a giant Followed Threads section I use for my threads.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper Wall(Apologies for the double post—had an observation I wanted to make)
I've been noticing a lot of "Sinister X" tropes in the TLP lately.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallTIL Logical Extreme is a playing with trope.

Macron's notes
I feel like I discovered that a while back (possibly after someone else mentioned it) and mentioned it somewhere on the forums (though I don't remember where; I'm not sure if I was on Yack Fest yet), and I questioned why we have it when we have Exaggerated Trope.
The urge to hold some sort of social experiment using people posting basically the same thing but in different ways and presentation to see how it affects the response to it, or have multiple people say the same thing to see if there is a bias towards and/or against some users or certain types of users. To use different types of avatars to see if they truly affect the interaction.
To learn the insides of TVT culture and the brain of the troper.

Checking in on this account after leaving the site, MAN that is a cringy forum post history. Daaamn. Never again.

When it comes to the derails I've seen after becoming a mod (which was half a year before I started posting on Yack Fest), I don't recall seeing any that I'd describe as shitposting, and the fact that Yack Fest is significantly more tolerant of derails than the more serious parts of the forums means that it's fine if threads lose focus for a bit (to the point that the forum rules say that derails are acceptable). In the event that a derail is too much even for Yack Fest, generally nudging the thread to get back on track is enough, with more strict measures mainly being necessary on more serious parts of the forums, particularly OTC.
