Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

Crosswicking isn't a required part of the process and we usually close threads as soon as a verdict is reached and carried out. People crosswicking the work is an entirely separate thing as it's a free action (although crosswicking works is strongly encouraged per wiki policy). However, if people are being unnecessarily detailed in their example entries; we have a thread for that
.

Macron's notesI'm getting the "This is page #X you have viewed this month without ads" banner again, even though it disappeared for the longest time.
Read Pokemon Ultimate EmeraldGreat, in addition to the glitched liveblogs and reviews I previously commented on, we have null search results as well.
I got a rock for Halloween.![]()
If we recall correctly, it vanishes for two weeks if you edit a page.
Added my first fanfic recommendation on a Fanfic Rec page, the one for The Great Gatsby to be exact.
CG for shortI wish you could add gifs onto pages as easily as images because I really want to put the gif of DarkSydePhil turning around to the camera really weirdly and folding his arms
onto my troper page.
Your Worst Nightmare came up as at least the second nightmare-related trope to come to TRS because of a bad name that made it sound overly broad. Previously, Bad Dreams was renamed to Past Experience Nightmare because it was about a specific type of bad dream despite the name, and Your Worst Nightmare apparently about the ability to create nightmares. I don't know if I'd lump it with tropes that misuse preexisting terms in ways they aren't usually used, since other power-based tropes like Blow You Away, Making a Splash, and Playing with Fire are based on wordplay based on preexisting terms.
I got a rock for Halloween.
I feel like someone went over how it works, but I don't remember the details, and the fact that mods don't get ads means I'd have to sign into Hastily Made Sock Puppet to test it out, and I'm too lazy to do that.
If it's only restricted to people who don't have accounts now, then I'm not sure when that changed.

I got a rock for Halloween.I'm gonna be honest, the "Edit and the "whitelist us" banner dissapears" thing is actually kind of genius. It provides an alternate way to get rid of it while still helping the wiki.
Read Pokemon Ultimate EmeraldI don't know if I've ever seen this "ad banner" or if I've been overlooking it for the longest time. I do edit fairly often already though.

When you're alone I'm reaching out to let you know that you're far from strangers, like the saviorClicked Random Media and John Dillermand made me do a Double Take. No regrets lmao.
When you're alone I'm reaching out to let you know that you're far from strangers, like the saviorI clicked Random Trope one time, and it lead me to Edible Theme Clothing, which I had launched.
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔Happy 1K+ inbounds to Mechamato lol. And almost a year after it was made!
I'm happy cuz this is the first work page I ever launched that got that many.
While others in the fandom have tributes to BoBoiBoy on March 13th (the show's anniversary + the character's birthday), I contributed last year by launching a related series' page instead. I find working on wiki pages arguably more fun/fulfilling than fanart anyway, I'm better with words.

When you're alone I'm reaching out to let you know that you're far from strangers, like the saviorThe Super OCD thread closed at exactly 69 posts.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.(Disclaimer: I actually do have OCD, so this joke about self-demonstration might as well be Self-Deprecation as well, as if I don't self-deprecate enough.)

I got a rock for Halloween.Both related
pages
of Agent Ali and its redirect (original Malay title) Ejen Ali are both currently at 753 inbounds.
I'm positive I've never seen that happen before. Usually, redirects tend to have more or less depending on the circumstances behind the redirects' creation (if a trope was renamed and the old name stuck around as a redirect, the redirect will usually have more inbounds, but particularly old redirects often don't have very many, and redirects that were simply made either to aid search results or because they were runners up on a TRS crowner won't have as many inbounds because they only exist to make the pages easier to find instead of being linked to directly).

I got a rock for Halloween. It probably helped that I expanded the description when I localised the page
and crosswicked slightly more than when the page was in its former name. Season 3 concluded pretty recently but I haven't finished it yet, so other tropers helping out also contributed.
Either way, the main work page as of now (Agent Ali) just happened to catch up, and I predict it'll overtake the redirect from this moment forward.
The inbounds of the Characters/ page
being more than the main work page either way is still a mystery to me...😵💫

When you're alone I'm reaching out to let you know that you're far from strangers, like the saviorI wonder if the non search engine links but on related pages is even true. I don't believe every page is being linked and clicked on organically either (especially the ones on obscure works) I accidentally created inbounds for a page I made by searching and clicking a link to it.
Macron's notes
That, and I think the fact that search engines other than Google are included in the inbound count (meaning another thing keeping the "non-search engine links" part from being completely accurate is the fact that "search engine links" in this case just means links from a single search engine) might be inflating inbound counts to an extent, since I've previously mentioned that I've seen DuckDuckGo listed multiple times in lists of inbounds for the day (possibly consecutively).
Not to mention the fact that the inbound counts date back to 2012 for pages made then or before then, meaning it's hard to tell whether they're still coming in, and if so, how many. It would be ideal if the admins could bring back the practice of having it reset every year (resulting in the count only listing inbounds for the current year) while simultaneously retooling the current 2012 inbound count into a counter for total inbounds (at least total in the sense of the oldest inbound counts we have to work with). I think a different mod mentioned that idea, and I think being able to compare recent inbound counts with the total amount accumulated would be useful.
Edit: I'd imagine none of this is anything you don't already know (especially since you know significantly more about the site's history than I do); I'm more commenting on this for the sake others reading these posts (and kind of thinking out loud as well).

I got a rock for Halloween.

I've actually been wondering lately whether part of the P5 review process involves extensive crosswicking for the works that are decided as 'keep', because I've been kind of weirded out lately how often - not everywhere, but moreso than I'd expect from "natural" Wiki Magic - a few fetishy-sounding fanfics crop up in trope page example sections.
