Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

Space Gal
It probably helps that Tumblr and TV Tropes probably share similar diversity - I’ve noticed that there are a lot of Autistic people here and being an Autistic myself, there is nothing more relaxing than cataloguing my hyperfixations.
Let's drop the political discussion, OK? Read the header of this thread and save that discussion for OTC.

I got a rock for Halloween.I also think Let's Plays can have a bit of narrativity if they have enough post-production content. While there isn't any story, a few videos use plenty of edition to make jokes, voice overs and even modify characters — the editors can change the context of a scene to turn an NPC malfunctioning (which on itself wouldn't be a trope) into the character having powers and other zany situations of sort. I don't know many American youtubers who do that, but at least the channel Jovem Nerd is usually full of those editions. Now, a streamer just making jokes and a funny voice now and then isn't making any tropable content, at least not anymore than a stand-up comedian. There could still be examples in the jokes and the such, but having a let's play namespace just for that does seem unnecessary.
oh hey how are you doing?I like to think any of SsethTzeentach or Lets Game It Out are good examples of "creatively transformed game videos".
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI'm aware that there are videos that go beyond simply playing the games. The deprecation of the LetsPlay/ namespace was tied to tropeworthiness concerns for videos that don't go beyond simply playing the games (possibly because that namespace would have been culled even if it hadn't been merged with WebVideo/, albeit to a lesser extent than Wiki/ being merged with Website/ since we have more pages about let's plays than pages about wikis, but it's been a while since I looked at that thread, so I'm not positive).

I got a rock for Halloween. Also because Let's Play is a genre, not a medium. Machinima was cut because it was really showing the website's age, and could be safely merged back to other pages.
I don't remember Light Novel. Was it just confusion as to what counts?
It was because Light Novels weren't distinct enough from other forms of Literature to justify having their own namespace.

Macron's notesI just noticed that the image on It May Help You on Your Quest was potholed to the wrong game, so I corrected it. I had a look at the thread
, and it turned out one person assumed wrong, and another person assumed they were right.

Good catch. Since I'm not active on IP anymore, I didn't know about the thread and thus wasn't able to step in, but since I've played both of the DS Zelda games, I recognize the pan flute as something that's in Spirit Tracks but not Phantom Hourglass. (I also recognize it as the most frustrating part of the game because it's the only in-game instrument in the series that requires you to actually blow into the microphone instead of just using the controller like every other instrument in the series, meaning it's more painful to make mistakes.)
Edit: The Living Drawing's caption suggestion of “It did indeed to the chagrin of many” was shot down for being too complainy, but I have no problem with it for reasons I previously said with more words and less eloquence.

I got a rock for Halloween.Right, yeah there's no strict notability standard. Right now we're just doing a better job at enforcing the rules we've always had regarding what makes a work tropeworthy, while cutting out the fluff when it comes to namespaces. That's all that's happening. (Though if you read the discussion at the WebVideo cleanup
and the V-Tuber cleanup in particular
, you'd think that the sky is falling because people get so angry when we cut their favorite creators.)
And people complain about their favorite tropes getting cut (or deprecated in some other way), and considering I feel like I have a more active presence on TRS than the other mods, I can't help but wonder if anyone thinks I'm responsible for those actions even though all I do is give the go-ahead to enact group decisions. Plus, there's the fact that my mod posts on TRS are neutral statements on where the consensus went, and a decision I give permission to enact doesn't even have to be one I voted in favor of.

I got a rock for Halloween.People just try to associate others with stuff by proxy regardless of any actual truths. It's a very poor assumption to begin with.
Making a mod statement doesn't mean you agree with the decision in itself. And it's impossible to expect that when we have a tiny slew of mods. This might make sense as a point if we had something like 30+ Moderators, who could be easily separated. We don't. We're low on them in general. Thus, automatic association is completely missing the point and is ultimately poor practice.
Shadow?Until right now, Playing with a Trope included a "Backfired" section; which is not a Trope Trope (and was potholed to Index Backfire).
Speaking of, I'm pretty sure we had some more Trope Trope drafts on TLP that never went anywhere. Assumed Trope is on hold but active, while Feigned Trope has been dead since September. Are there any recent ways to play with a trope that did succesfully launch?
Edited by FernandoLemon on Feb 18th 2023 at 4:45:44 PM
Visual Novel, at 2108 wicks, might be the first Medium-type page to hit the "Soon to be Overdosed Tropes". Not like I'm adding it, since it's not a trope. Or should I?
Nevermind, Video Games has 4083. But Literature is at 1700+.

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576I think the most recent addition to the Playing With category was Played for Horror.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall
I think so too, and even then I think it was split from Played for Drama, right?
I don't recall it being a split. I just remember Unicorndance making a TLP and it launched.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI've been watching and troping Animaniacs (2020) lately, but every time, I end up typing the namespace as "WesternAnimaniacs" before correcting myself. I think I also kept mistyping Inside Job (2021) as either Inside Out 2021 or Inside Out 2022 (as I only watched the show in 2022).
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Double post: there's a TLP currently titled "Gag Ears (Grabbed by Tropers/DrNoPuma)
," which gave me the unintentional mental image of a troper grabbing a character by their comically large ears.
There are 2 Yack Fest forums next to each other right now that have the same number of posts.
