Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

I think it depends on which post is being linked to and why it's being linked to. Sometimes it can be acceptable to link to another thread, but the only example I can think of off the top of my head is that it's common for TRS threads to link to past TRS threads if they're relevant. (I think IP does this as well, but as I've said multiple times, I'm not active on IP these days.)

I got a rock for Halloween.I concur with Gaston—sometimes in TRS, previous TRS threads can become relevant, especially if a trope ends up going through TRS multiple times. See: Acceptable Targets, Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped, Ambiguously Brown, Widget Series, Ending Aversion/Audience-Alienating Ending, The The Title/Definite Article Title, and the recent discussion about Replacement Love Interest in the meta thread—all cases where a trope either went through TRS multiple times or a previous TRS was otherwise relevant.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallHere's a random thought: I feel like TVT's most modern interface style is practically timeless. Even after the release of things like Windows 11, Wikipedia's newest design, and the new styles of Antimatter Dimensions and some The Modding Tree games which also have flat design or even try to evolve it, it just doesn't look outdated or tiring. But the previous style (which was mostly white and had all-caps buttons at the top) really made me beg for something new by the time the 1.8 update was almost out.
And yeah, Image Pickin does link to old threads (but I don't use it much).

, in fact.
And oh look! I just did it again in this thread! That's another!
Well, either way, I have no idea what m-95 was talking about. I don't remember hearing about anything like that until now even though I was already a mod when the newer of the two posts (the 2022 one) was made (I wasn't a mod for most of 2021, since I was promoted in late November of that year).
As for where to ask for clarification, if I'm one of the people you'd ask and I'm baffled by the idea of such a thing happening, then, uh....
Edit: I discussed this with m-95 over PM and it looks like the issue was that people were wanting to avoid a derail, since the post being referred to was on the On-Topic Conversations subforum, since the person making the request wasn't a mod. (Not getting any more specific than that.)

It's a little retro, and I'm sure we'll complain about it looking old and cluttered a few years or decades down the line, seeing as simplification is the current big thing.
It's been a week since I removed the "On-Topic" aspect of the Absent people thread and it managed to not descend into chaos (if anything, it's been more on-topic than before I removed the on-topic restriction), so I guess whatever circumstances led to the on-topic restriction being added no longer apply.
My response to anyone who wants it reimplemented still stands.
Bit by bit, this site is being put together if you check the change logs.
I guess in some years stuff will change. We already got a preview and upload image button in the create thread screen.
Checking in on this account after leaving the site, MAN that is a cringy forum post history. Daaamn. Never again.
There's also a revamp on the way, coming Soon™, which probably means it'll arrive sometime in the next two decades.
I tried using the New Search or whatever its called option on the... well, search bar and it was not helpful at all. When looking things up on the Forums it does the literal same thing as the other one and when I tried looking up Fire Emblem Engage from the search bar up top it showed me results for Gaiden and Awakening first.

That would do it. Firefox seems better for TV Tropes ATM.

I feel like I might know what you're referring to, but I don't usually remember seeing you in the section I'm thinking of, so I'm actually not sure.
