Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

Heh...funny you should mention a classic rock band. I've been told I look like Gregg Allman.

I can't help but wonder if you're the first person to get the joke. My taste for Classic Rock is probably related to my parents being Baby Boomers who grew up with it before it was called classic rock.

I got a rock for Halloween.Millennials.note
I liked when Critical Research Failure went away. I hate when people use tropes to armchair historian/psychologist/expert-school you.
As for Surprisingly Realistic Outcome, I guess in retrospect, I'd still vote not to scrap it in the crowner and attempt to salvage it and see how it goes, and now the salvage-and-monitor period is ongoing, and it seems misuse pops up way faster than it can be corrected, and I'm not sure it's worth the effort. (Speaking as someone who participates in the cleanup thread kind of irregularly.) It could be something, but it's too easy to misuse.
Now that you mentioned it, in retrospect, Critical Research Failure works far better as an index than a trope.
Also, apparently there are talks about cutting
the Analysis.Humans Are Cthulhu page. While I understand why - at this point it's more of a silly thought experiment sandbox rather than actual analysis - I really am going to miss it. It was fun reading through all of those bulleted lists talking up the human species and how "incomprehensible" we are to other animals.

I miss the original format for Grumpy Bear. I still remember it had a picture of a grouchy-looking blue Care Bear with this caption underneath it: "Not even being the Trope Namer was enough to lift his spirits."
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!Critical Research Failure also sounds like it could be another title for Failed a Spot Check.

In fairness, being a Trope Namer can just as much of a curse as it is a blessing.
Honestly, yeah, I think I'm more glad to see Critical Research Failure go than I was to see Anvil of the Story go. Anvil of the Story didn't have many wicks, so it was just pointless, while Critical Research Failure was just a mess of nitpicking.
And there's nothing wrong with saying "Millennials", but it's suspension-worthy if you're running a plugin that changes it to "snake people".

I got a rock for Halloween.Serpentines
are so millennial.
I wonder what would be a good replacement plugin. IncrediblyLamePun
is doing better than I thought. It's sub-9000 now! Meme unintended.

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Willbyr isn't, though (even if I am, but I'm not a snake person despite what those plugins say). He's Gen X, so what Tabs said isn't completely accurate if it was referring to him as well.

I got a rock for Halloween.Disregarding really old stuff like victory in the Nakama drama... I think the TRS thread I was happiest to see happen was the one that cut Parvum Opus, which for those who didn't recall was a complaining counterpart to Magnum Opus. It was a really blatant failure of TLP that it even got launched in the first place, and so it was satisfying just how short-lived it was.
I don't think it even went through TLP, so I don't think TLP is to blame in that case (since Main/ wasn't locked down until 2017).
Edit: Yeah, the TRS thread's opening post
says it was put in Main/ unilaterally, and the discussion page doesn't have a link to a TLP draft.

I got a rock for Halloween."Parvum Opus" is a clever name for that, though.
ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NOI didn't even know Wildfire Franchise had a TRS thread. I thought it was cut via a decision in the TLP cleanup. RIP.
Anyway, the first TRS effort I actively contributed to was Seldom Seen Species. My hobby for a week was removing wicks to it, and along the way I found plenty of works to add to Works Needing Tropes.
Grumpy Bear being index rather then a trope now is disappointing
Like what they did to Nice Hat
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverA disambig isn't exactly an index. Grumpy Bear was misused for the tropes in the disambig and as a general "this character is always grumpy" when the trope really was "This character's grumpiness contrasts with the idealistic setting of the work". I think a new trope is being made for the latter definition in the TLP.
Macron's notesOh, and how could I forget Ear Worm now being IUEO? That's the trope that brought me to TRS (which then stemmed to the rest of the forums), and I'm glad about the change, that thing was a ZCE magnet.
I almost mentioned that trope myself. I remember a lot of the usage being the Ear Worm in question being phonetically spelled out Ear Worms—which was just annoying IMO.
Hey Its That Guy and Hey Its That Voice are not tropes I miss particularly dearly either. I remember them cluttering Trivia pages like crazy—when they were cut, they had turned into essentially lists of which roles (voice) actors played, which even at the time (I didn't have an account yet) I questioned the need for.

Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper Wall
Relationship Voice Actor, which was disambiguated this week, was similar to the Hey It's That [noun] things, and there are already Trivia pages being cutlisted for listing nothing else (which previously happened with Names The Same).

I got a rock for Halloween. For TRS decisions, I'm pretty glad about Five-Man Band (not actually a trope but everyone was desperate to shoehorn it into everything, with accompanying ZCEs) and The Chick (deeply associated with FMB's problems with the additional shitty implications of it being shoved onto just about every female character)
HAPPY HALLOWEEN FOR MARIAI've never seen that movie, so I'm only familiar with the song it's named after ("Glass Onion" by The Beatles, AKA the Trope Namer for The Walrus Was Paul).

I got a rock for Halloween.Something I've noticed is that on Values Dissonance, people try and justify why it was ok back then instead of explaining why its wrong.
Best advice I ever got? Keep repeating the joke till everyone is forced to laugh.

I think it was one month.
