Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

I've been inactive lately due to taking on a temporary full-time job. First thing I did was check to see if Goncharov has a page, wondering what namespace it'd be. It does! But somehow I forgot that it'd have to be JFF as I was wondering if it counted as some sort of collaborative Literature/ project.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I did see that the other mods were talking about that while I was asleep, but I don't really feel like getting into that mess right now. I don't really feel like doing mod work right now, because as I explained in the Troper Updates thread, I'm sick again, so I don't really feel like doing mod work, or at least not to the extent I usually do. As I also said in the Troper Updates thread, I'm not taking a break from the site (which is why I didn't post the update in Absent People), so I'll still be on more casual parts of the site like Yack Fest and the wiki.

ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NOPeople really need to check wicks before cutting pages because I keep finding redlinked subpages.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupSpeaking of Goncharov, our other film-that-doesn't-exist page, Disney's Anne Frank, is more than three times as long. There's a good joke at the core, but it's become badly bloated over the years. I guess Goncharov being made without a wiki page (I think?) forced some conciseness on its plot synopsis. Or maybe it isn't that old yet.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.Goncharov is different because the narrative is being written off-site as what's basically an Alternate Reality meme narrative. It's a legit work about a nonexistent movie, like various creepypastas are. (Nobody's gonna protest a page on "Squidward's Suicide" just because the episode never existed, because everyone knows it's just a story... Why is Goncharov different?)
Disney's Anne Frank is a joke the Nostalgia Chick made and that the wiki expanded on, has no canon to draw from, is not being written off-site, and is a page anyone can add any trope to. That's why it's so long; because it's really just a free for all.

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallAnd what about Keit-Ai? Shouldn't that one go in JFF too?

Well, the thing is, there's a whole debate on where Goncharov really belongs... and most of us don't think it's JFF
. (If ya'll want to discuss the namespace stuff further, that's the place)

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI've had an idea for a JFF page before, but I'm not entirely convinced that it would fly.
Your melody still remains in this room and it ringsIt confuses me that that's JFF and Administrivia.Chairs Sit On People is in the "serious" namespace.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallAre there any restrictions on JFF launches? I've asked about it before and was told to use TLP if unsure.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupAs long as it fits the intent of the namespace, I think it's fine? But you can use TLP if you want. JustForFun.Tv Tropes Cafe was drafted there.

Well, Administrivia.People Sit On Chairs came first and then I made the JFF page because I thought it was funny. Kind of surprised nobody thought of it before.
Okay, I didn't actually look at it that closely lol
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI've been thinking: what relic pages from the site's early days still exist today? Here are some of the better-known ones:
- Avatar and the Airbending Fellowship of Vampire Slayers: Started in 2012, I don't know how long it lasted but I'm fairly certain it's dead.
- Encounters: Started in 2010, there was an attempt to revive it
a few months ago that went nowhere, since the thread's OP is now bounced.
- So You Want To: Started in 2008, seems like it's still somewhat active.
- Trope Co.: Started in 2008, mildly active.
- Trope Pantheons: Started in 2008, still extremely popular after all these years
.
- Trope Report: Ran between 2009 and 2012, received a revival in interest
in 2020, with the revival launching in 2021 and continuing to this day.
- Trope-tan: Originally created in 2012, received a redesign in 2022, but the thread
has been inactive for a few months now.
There are all of the JustForFun.Ad Of Win pages... in fact most of the JFF index counts, a vast majority of it was added in the early years. But Ad of Win is especially interesting, as in recent years I don't think most of us have anything good to say about the advertisements, and they're rarely "page appropriate".

When a popular work comes out I just follow the YMMV page and wait until something suspicious comes out. It usually does.
