Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

If you click on a Grammarly suggestion while you're editing a TV Tropes page, it deletes all of the text before the word it changed.
That's for fully automated plugins, such as the infamous one that changes every instance of "cloud" to "butt" without the user having to touch anything to get it to work. I haven't used any spelling/grammar checkers, but the term "suggestion" implies that you have to tell the plugin to make the change instead of it doing automatically.
...That said, blindly trusting suggested fixes isn't good since they aren't perfect and show false positives, so they can still lead to suspensions.

I got a rock for Halloween.I feel like I've mentioned how my idea of waiving the Three-Day Rule for Not Thriving threads on TRS ended up becoming a highlight of the early months of my mod work (at least to me), but I think how it affects the process was particularly easy to see within the past few hours, as the TRS Queue happened to have two Not Thriving threads in a row, and the first was finished in a little over three hours (started at 10:42 PM CDT and closed at 1:54 AM CDT), and the second was finished a little over two hours after the first finished (started less than a minute after the first one was closed and closed itself at 4:13 AM CDT).
I'm not saying this to brag about my crazy idea, especially since I'm pretty sure I first mentioned here it not long after I started posting on Yack Fest; I'm mentioning it because I don't recall any other cases of more than one Not Thriving thread consecutively having the Three-Day Rule waived (if there have been cases of more than one consecutive Not Thriving thread at all since then), so this is probably a first when it comes to that practice.

I got a rock for Halloween.
The only side effect of that is that I was asleep when those two threads opened and closed, and thus couldn't participate.
Ah well, if it moves the queue along it moves the queue along.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper Wall
I was only really awake because insomnia often leaves me with an inconsistent sleep schedule. I don't know if any other mods (or at least ones who moderate TRS) were even online at the time.
Hey, how do y'all crosswick things. Do you just copy what was already there and paste it with a few tweaks or do you rewrite the entry?
Read Pokemon Ultimate EmeraldI'd hate if an entry differed between two pages, but they often do (if crosswicked at all). To me they logically should be identical.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI just copy and paste, rewriting whatever I have to but I don't just make a new entry from scratch.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallCool. I'm just asking cause I want to do some crosswicking and was wondering what was proper.
Read Pokemon Ultimate EmeraldI don't like it when every single example on a trope page begins with "Work title:" because it looks too stiff (someone did this to Token Aquatic Race shortly after it was launched)... but I also don't like it when every entry begins with "In work," either.
I'll admit I'm guilty of that. But when there is a clear spot to put the work name in, I place it there.
Example:
Trope example in work page
- Chainsaw Good: The chainsaw has a high damage output and is the only weapon able to kill Enemy X, making it the best weapon in the game.
Trope example on the trope itself.
- The chainsaw has a high damage output and is the only weapon able to kill Enemy X, making it the best weapon in Work X.
The concern is that if/when 2.0 rolls around, everything will be automatically crosswicked based on the first link in the example... so if there's a wick before the actual work name wick, it'll get screwed up.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall...it annoys me when I have to read through the entire example just to find out what work it's from.
(I think my habit is to start with a form something like "The chainsaw from [work title] has...")
ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NOI usually just go "Work: Example". It may not be as stylistic, but then you limit how many words you need and you can just get right into the meat of it.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI tend to do either "In [work]" or "[Work] features" though sometimes I use it as an opportunity to make jokes.
Read Pokemon Ultimate EmeraldEverything about 2.0 sounds amazing, but almost in a too-good-to-be-true way with the current admin team size.
My musician pageCrosswicking also gives me another layer of check. If by copying an example from work/characters page to a trope page it sounds off or loses context, it must have been poorly written in the first place.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThe worst part of crosswicking is when you run into pages that are designed to be as impossible as possible. Soft-split trope pages are head-ache inducing, especially if the split is overly specific for no good reason. Meanwhile, some work pages are so split up by category that if you don't know the work you're screwed.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI'm planning on re-crosswicking Power Bomberman in the future, but there's some tropes that I'm not going to crosswick because are redundant with the canon games.
Oh, I just remembered. If its a character Trope I might refer to the character as "[Work]'s character".

I think I remember YMMV having a different color from Main, but it's been years since they changed it.
