Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

It does make you wonder what the thread with the most pages/posts is. I think I saw one with 3000+ pages once?

I think this was discussed previously, but at the time consensus was the Complete Monster thread. Right now it's nearly at 13K pages. Dunno of any 300,000 page thread though

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI never get these sorts of numerical milestones... every number has something special about it. 421 is a prime where every digit is half of the previous one. 10503 is the product of a prime and a cube.
I think I might've tried to start a forum game about that at some point but no one else thought it was funny. :P
ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NOThe Complete Monster thread is probably the largest thread that serves the site directly, but in terms of absolute pages, the We Are Are Avatars RP thread is most likely the largest on the site with its more than 1.2 million posts and 49,381 pages by the time it ended.

Hugging a Vanillite will give you frostbite.I think the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic thread could've been the longest had the 2013 hack and resulting deletion of the original thread not happened. That speaks to just how omnipresent that show was on the site at the time, in what still might be the largest active fandom the site's ever seen.
It's definitely a staple of Just for Fun pages.
Part of me feels like Accidental Innuendo is a Just for Fun page in everything but namespace.
I have no idea, but considering the admins haven't had to implement a function for automatically deleting unused images, I'd say we're good for now.
I wish we could delete images now, it means there's still copyrighted images and troll images and likely porno images just sitting in our servers forever. I know it's not a server priority but it feels like a no-brainer.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wallthink about all the duplicates from someone forgetting to copy the URL of an image they uploaded, since there's no way to find it again if you lose that
not that ive ever done that, or accidentally uploaded the wrong image from my phone

The admins actually can delete images. I've just only seen it done once since I became a mod.
(That said, the fact it's an admin-only thing and not at least something mods can do is inconvenient.)
I do know URLs are why a Complete Monster image was replaced with The Boss Baby (since immortalized on Funny.TV Tropes).

I got a rock for Halloween.Duplicate images are a big problem with me. I don't forget to copy the URL, the popup is just janky and prone to closing while I'm trying to copy it.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallThere is one
(it's under "Tools" in the sidebar), but it only records images uploaded from wiki pages, not the forum.
"Oh, I didn't know there was a kind of soup you could eat without silverware. It tastes horrible, though."
I kept forgetting where that Image List was, thanks.
Now I definitely know that the page image for Film.Level 16 (page made by someone else this year) is the same image I uploaded when I wanted to make the page back in 2021 lmao. Left it lying as a WIP in my sandbox until I learned that someone made the work page.
Well, unlike deleting images, deleting videos actually is something mods can do. However, doing a mass purge is probably an admin-only task, so those of us without access to the backend stuff would have to play whack-a-mole if videos had to be deleted en masse.

I got a rock for Halloween. Not sure what kind of server the website is hosted on to have no media upload restrictions, but if admins get concerned about that, they will tell in advance (or pull You Didn't Ask and ask for an immediate cleanup).
TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup

NO-
Well this is a page topper.
