Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

What happens to the people who don't use tropes correctly? Would they be sent to some sort of "re-education" camp? Or just jail?
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallProbably the most interestingly unique find I've had on a Wiki Walk in a while - from the IP thread for Career-Ending Injury, I found this "IP" thread about getting through bugs from a site overhaul
.
Our current system where stuff like crowners gets announced in Ask The Tropers is a lot better than how it used to be, which was if you're not the sort who hangs around the top left decisions on tropes would seem like they came out of virtually nowhere, because I remember half the time I'd only learn about something going on if I noticed certain activity on my Watchlist or I stumbled upon a header on a trope page.
So I feel it works way better from a transparency angle.

Too bad Main/dfgsdfsgsdf never got a pic.
Kinda interesting to see how contributors worked around such issues as they were happening. How bad were the bugs affecting workshop forums at that time? This is probably something I can find out myself in the changelog forum even if I probably won't right now so this is more of a light question rather than an inquiry.
I think I remember that bug, but I was new to IP so all I did was pop into the Image Suggestion thread every now and again.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallHad a first close experience Sinkhole. Doing a wick cleaning and need to see if the trope fits, but it's just potholed to a name. Who even knows, the example is about the other trope and there's nothing to clue from.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupChloe Jessica gets gold medal for the best custom wiki username (sorry 𝕋𝕒𝕓𝕤).
it does work, you're still typing the same phrase. the wiki just renders it differently. here, ill prove it: ~Chloe Jessica

For the first time in almost a year, someone other than me has edited the Dæmorphing page for reasons other than removing a cut trope! Which is odd, because the page had a sizeable trope list before I joined. I guess it was made by one person who eventually got bored.
I'd actually forgotten about that issue with the threads...that was a lot of trouble but it ultimately worked out okay. I don't remember exactly what was going on but there was a lot of stuff that was broken and it made trying to process some threads pretty much impossible, plus new threads were still coming in. It was like trying to bail water out of a leaky boat, and it took putting a moratorium on new threads to start making any headway on getting anything processed out.

The screenreader on this device just skips over "Chloe Jessica" and "𝕋𝕒𝕓𝕤"...
I remember seeing the effect of two decisions in my early days on the wiki, when I barely took notice of the forums. One was that I searched for Warped Aesop (which was "Aesop that is bad", you can imagine the natter and edit wars there) only to find it had been renamed and redefined to Family Unfriendly Aesop; it would later be defined better as Hard Truth Aesop. The other was finding that I could no longer find Dan and Mab's Furry Adventures by the initials DMFA, such redirects were cut by mod decision because they are impenetrable outside the fandom.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.

And then there would be a lot more people who don't understand how to edit TV Tropes and it gets to the point you require an editing "license" by passing a test to edit the site.
Checking in on this account after leaving the site, MAN that is a cringy forum post history. Daaamn. Never again.
