Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

My username was reused from a couple of other accounts IIRC. It was my old Reddit username before I deleted that account forever. (I have a new account I just created that I probably won't use much, actually—it's my third there.) I dislike my username but I put too much work into this account to change it and whatever my replacement username idea would be would probably suck anyway, so it's staying.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallIf I changed my handle IDK what I'd even use, I'm not thrilled with my current but like it's the name everyone knows me by and it has all my history and stuff...
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallIt Looks Like This is perma-banned for the sake of self-demonstrating Red Link article. It doesn't appear it ever had own page made.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI dislike both of my usernames but oh well they part of my legacy. I have this name because I wanted to have something unique and I apparently thought it was was cool when I was 16.
Macron's notesThat’s why I’m fine with just having a generic name. Because it doesn’t age badly over time.

I’m gonna put some Gloom in your eye.Re: demographics: I (cis bi female, hello) joined the site in 2013 and I definitely noticed that the majority of the forums had straight men (or people who thought they were at the time). It got to the point where, when I first started posting on the forums, a lot of people assumed I was male and addressed me with he/him pronouns... even though my username at the time reeked of "twelve-year-old female weeb who loves Tokyo Mew Mew".
I honestly think it's pretty neat how the demographic is a lot more diversified nowadays. It felt kind of lonely being one of like five girls on the forums
I was experimenting with something and thought the name space deprecations needed site wide attention. Looks like you can install multiple bulletins but only three will show up on the sidebar.
Macron's notesOdd predicament when the community was smaller; the dicks also happened to be friends with a lot of the rest of the Tropers. So people often felt discouraged from calling them out or contacting a mod. And this was before Hollers were a thing, so the response was much slower as well.
I'm not sure if "Don't be a dick" was a rule back then and just wasn't enforced, or if it arose some time later, but there was also a sense of the mods themselves not being sure what constituted a bannable offense. A lot of people who would bluntly be told to shape up or get out nowadays hung around for a long while because they weren't technically doing something wrong. They just happened to cause fires every week.
I recall the old forum search function accidentally revealed that the mods' private subforum had threads where they were trying to figure out how to deal with these individuals. The forum rules being strengthened and "Don't be a dick" being the most prominent is when, combined with the Holler system, is when things began to change.
Re: Usernames
Cutegirl920 was the name of my old Animal Jam account and stuck with me ever since, thus using it or a variant of it on every website I use. IDK why, it just fits me IG which is kinda expected as I had a particular naming process for it (Cute, cause I think I'm cute, Girl, cause I'm one, 9 was how old I was back then, 20 refers to the 20th anniversary of Pokémon and I was a big fan of the series as a kid). The "fire" part comes from another website I used to frequent and accidentally slapped it on my TVT handle and now it's also stuck with me. Tho I still use the og "Cutegirl920" name when my full username is too long for certain websites.

CG for shortMy username is named after a song by XTC (as I like 80s alternative music.) One time I heard the song "The Mayor of Simpleton" in a Petco and I felt really weird listening to it knowing its my username on a few sites.

Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallIf my memory is correct, when coming up with my username, I was using some of the first ideas that came to my head. Also, one of them involved tagging a few numbers at the end. I also recall that the username is supposed be a tad self-depreciating because I'm saying in a way "I'm just some random person who's on Tv Tropes".
Remind me, wasn't there once own trope or JFF page similar to ReferencedBy.TV Tropes? It may had a name was close to One of Us.
Either that or I'm mixing up the two pages.

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupMy current username is a combination of Cytokine and Zytokine, which are names that belong to my favorite music circle ZYTOKINE who, back then up until 2011, was part of a greater Cytokine circle.
As for my previous username DivineFlame100, well... There was no actual basis for it. I only randomly came up with it for a Youtube channel back then because I was lacking on better username ideas.
Mine is just a corrupted version of "Jaywarriors", which was my Warrior Cats forum account for years. The 77 is... random.

Huh, but I think that username would be still OK to keep as I didn't even know it was a song reference, so it's likely others don't as well. If you don't wanna keep it, you can always delete your current account and ask the mods if you could make a new one.

CG for shortEh, just mail Fighteer a letter via snail mail, I'm sure it'd work out
And yeah, there is a site contact form, but it's def easier to just ask before you pull the trigger.

regarding the Permanent Red Link Club, did someone actually try to turn It Looks Like This into an article at some point or was that a preemptive ruling?
