Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

Re: GCPTR: I still disagree with the direction the TRS took, partly because of some vague voting weirdness (voting on "reworking the trope" without an idea of what that meant in advance), partly because the new definition really should have been made Trivia, and partly because the new high standard requires so much effort that cleaning up a single page can take at least half an hour to research every single ratings bureau that ever supervised to the work. This high effort has the spillover effect of not moving the examples to other items like Demographically Inappropriate Humor (which exists to catch GCPTR misuse and needs to be publicized to prevent further GCPTR misuse).
Like IDK what the alternative effort could have been at this point but man, that was a mess in its own right. And the "no off-page examples" idea was also really weird and hard to curate — I still come across those commented out "GCPTR examples are banned until July 2021" notices.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Admittedly, crosswicking Dungeons & Dragons examples is a pain. Because the work page has no common tropes lists for the works and tropes are instead arranged by classes and creatures, it becomes my biggest roadblock for crosswicking since I haven't played the games to know what goes where.

That idea seemed good on paper, though I had campaigned for it to be a permanent change for the sake of easier curation, the "until this random date" thing wasn't my original plan and yeah the fact that nobody bothered to cleanup the notices afterward is really annoying.
Pages like that are the worst, it's always a judgement call what goes where.

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallWell, at least I finally crosswicked every initial on-draft example on Healing Boss. I just needed a break in-between after crosswicking the bloated Eastern RPGs folder, that's all.
97 wicks
. Now that is impressive.
I know it may seem like overkill to crosswick every on-draft example rather than cherry pick which ones to crosswick to a healthy-enough number like most people do (and it is), but I just can't help myself. To me, it's my responsibility to see things through to the end, and crosswicking examples actually gives me a sense of fulfillment and purpose to add meaningful contributions beyond my current field. You could say I'm a completionist when it comes to crosswicking.
Oh, I always do every single wick I have as well. That's what you're supposed to do, but it's not actually a rule so people tend to just stop halfway.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallCrosswicking every page is preferred but it's ok if you did at most of them. I still tell people to try to crosswick everything because some people only crosswick 2-3 pages and then call it a day.
Macron's notesWhat annoys me the most is when it's clear the crosswicked examples were completely cherrypicked with some namespaces completely ignored or only given one or two crosswicks... it's just like, I'd understand if someone went down the list and got tired halfway through, but I don't understand it when people just blatantly jump around.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallRegarding the discussion about Getting Crap Past the Radar's changes, the thread that retooled it is one of the big reasons why I'm so hard on proposed crowner options that mention changing the definition/standards of tropes without saying how, due to the "voting on 'reworking the trope' without an idea of what that meant in advance" crowner option mightymewtron mentioned, which was heavily downvoted since voters want to know what they're voting for ahead of time.
Edit: On an unrelated note, I noticed I accidentally typed "seeks" instead of "sees" in my previous post in this thread, since it was past midnight at the time and I was tired. That's been fixed.

I got a rock for Halloween.RE: Crosswicking
I actually once did an all-nighter to crosswick around 51 wicks for Nope a while back. I wicked most of the examples but skipped a couple when I don't know where to put them on a page or if they fit.
CG for short
In the case of Healing Boss, I had to stop for a break after 59 wicks because the workload stress from crosswicking that many examples (most of which were Eastern RPGs) was taking its toll on me. After some rest and I got my motivation back up, I picked up where I left off from the First-Person Shooters folder today.
And yeah, for the pages I'm unfamiliar with, I leave the examples alone, as I mentioned with Dungeons & Dragons earlier. I think that particular work may be my crosswicking nemesis.
Re: Radar: I remember the Moral Event Horizon thread had a similar crowner problem actually. Can’t remember if it was reran though.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallThere was one thread that had like 5 crowners because we just kept running into problems and everyone grew paranoid about the result being tampered with by socks or something. I don't remember what thread it was, but it definitely made everyone more cautious about crowners going forward.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallIs it my imagination or did Emotionless Reptile get launched twice? :S

Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered! The first time it was launched someone rogue launched it (when someone launches a draft without permission from the sponsor or without adopting the draft) so it's being launched by the sponsor properly this time.
Macron's notesI feel like there's a big problem on ATT with people jumping into threads to post about a related-but-still-off-topic problem, which at worst can end up derailing the entire discussion. It feels rude to call people out for it though...

Which in my opinion is for the better—Radar had the same problems Nightmare Fuel has constantly been having, with people shoehorning in misuse to make their favorite series seem "cooler". I'm glad Radar got reworked.
