Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules
(in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific ban/suspension cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

Just say "Good luck, I'm behind 7 proxies!" Besides, most online people aren't that tough IRL. I wouldn't mind someone doing that, in fact, I'd love them to do it.
@topic YKTTW can be dead at times, oh, and everything is a lie.
Everything is a lie....
You can trace people through IP. It's just really stupid and you typically can't find out the IP of the target in the first place. Typically.
In a forum, like here, or something like Tumblr? No chance unless they find out their external IP and actually tell someone.
YUUGI WANTS YOU FOR DRINKING BUDDY@odd1's comments on Cracked comments: That just about sums it up. It only gets nasty on those articles that are about serious shit, like that female superhero costumes one. Otherwise, the comments are hilarious, if not particularly substantial.
In some cases, they're even quite uplifting. When you get an article about depression or stuff along those lines, the section floods with people who sympathize and are supportive. In somewhere like 4chan or Yahoo, they wouldn't last long.
Anyway, that's kind of a moot point since they're considering shutting the comments down.
"Stealing is a crime and drugs is a crime too BUT if you steal drugs the two crimes cancel out and it’s like basically doing a good."I believe it'd benefit the wiki to start following the rules of 4chan.
Hey, that site is epic. Truly an example of what the whole world should follow. I'm Just Trying to Help, you know?

Everything is a lie.Re: Cracked. The same thing is true at the AV Club. They will have interesting discussions on the merits of various Community episode, but I remember reading an article about Tyler Perry movies and you would think I stumbled into a KKK meeting. There were people saying that Tyler Perry sucks because all black directors are inherently inferior.
The nastiest I saw the Cracked readers get was over an article entitled "Why Zooey Deschanel Can Stop Acting Like A Dork"; the article was a deconstruction of Zooey Deschanel's rather manufactured appeal towards geeky guys.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatOne thing I've noticed about people on the forum is that many don't seem to be very open-minded when it comes to music. Of course there are some who embrace a wide variety of music, but on the whole, people generally stick to their few one or two or three genres or subgenres and that's it.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. The main ones I've noticed people like here are into are electronic music and metal, with some classic rock fans (though this of course doesn't include other older music popular in previous eras, like, say, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons, Simon And Garfunkel—basically, the closer it could be related to metal and hard rock, the more popular it is here, though even that's a kind of nebulous dichotomy), as well as a bunch of scattered indie and alternative rock fans. Stuff like, say, bubblegum pop, Motown, disco, the many different kinds of jazz, blues, funk, R&B (both classic and modern), hip-hop, rap, hell, even folk music...all that seems to fall to the wayside here. And that saddens me, since that's a HUGE and diverse array of music that almost an entire here demographic seems to be ignoring.
EDIT: I'd throw country music in there too, but we have Twentington for that.

I've definitely noticed that. Most people on this forum just seem to like various subgenres of Rock. No Electronic Music, no Hip-Hop, R&B, Funk, etc.

I dunno, Jack Black isn't really known for his sex appeal.
Very good point.
You know what would be awesome? A collaboration between Jack Black and Jack White.

Yeah, I'm gonna call bullshit on that.
There's a very clear line between being "politically correct" and just having a proper argument, and no one in their right minds would stop you from having an educated or polite debate in any subject for a reason like that. And anyone who does really has no fucking clue what "politically correct" means.
As do most people when they think of "politically incorrect". Being purposefully offensive, inflammatory or insulting isn't being politically incorrect. As well as saying "you can't talk about this" isn't being politically correct. It just means you're an asshole, in both cases.
Being politically correct has more to do with approaching a subject with subtlety or some degree of respect or inclusion. Being politically incorrect means approaching something aggressively, but you have to have a good reason or an idea to back it up. If you just act like an asshole for the sake of acting like an asshole you're just being an asshole. See for example, George Carlin was politically incorrect, and offensive, but he did so because he had a point. Carlos Mencia is just an asshole.
So really there's nothing inherently wrong with the idea of being "politically correct" in an argument nor is there some evil PC propaganda machine that wants you to stop thinking.

When people threaten to track your IP address, I just laugh. They can't actually do that, and even if they could, what are they going to do? Come to a town in the middle of nowhere to ask around for me, and try to beat me up? Not going to happen.
But seriously, when anyone says that, disregard anything they have to say and laugh. Because it's a stupid threat.
WELCOME TO MEME HELL!!!
