Eh, I don't see it as Character Derailment, since she maybe complimented Emerald and Mercury all of once. Remember, one of the first things we hear after Mercury joins up with them is her slapping Emerald just for speaking up.
Rodimus: Self-sacrifice, Magnus— It's cheap. It's a cheap way out. I need to live so I can make amends. No one is saying she's a Benevolent Boss or anything like that, just that she understood the rules of the Carrot and Stick game.
Speaking of Cinder....

@unknowing: I mean Azula herself did have an infamous Villainous Breakdown where she goes completely off the rails and falls apart.
I wonder how well the inevitable pre-fight speeches vs. Salem will go down. Probably some villain monologuing, a Shut Up, Hannibal!, perhaps a Shut Up, Kirk! or some talk from Ozcar after that. I wouldn't rule out some And This Is for... mid-fight either.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my Tumblr
Salem tends to be more soft spoken, volume 3 monologue aside a lot of the menace she exudes is implicit. I'd expect a backhanded compliment and prodding at the deepest insecurities of the person in question.
That said, at the current juncture any fight directly involving Salem seems like it would go down like Thanos in Wakanda, less Ham-to-Ham Combat, more Unflinching Walk while steamrolling every single hero standing between her and whatever she's after simultaneously.

Also, something brought up against the theory she wants to conquer Atlas rather then destroy it was how she brought the Whale Grimm, but given it has her fortress on it...honestly I'd say it would make sense for her to move her headquarters there if she was intending to take over Atlas rather then just invade it
Things are really about to get Fun around hereSo, if Summer Rose does show up in later volumes, do you think Lindsay Jones (aka Ruby) will voice her?
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.Probably. She'd probably use her natural voice, since it would fit that Summer is pretty much just an older Ruby, and as such have a more mature voice.
Rodimus: Self-sacrifice, Magnus— It's cheap. It's a cheap way out. I need to live so I can make amends. It will either be Lindsay Jones or a famous actress (like how Qrow was originally supposed to be voiced by Monty, then Vic ended up with the job, and now Jason Liebrecht). Laura Bailey might be an option; she was willing to come in and voice like two words for Amber, I could see her being interested in a bigger role.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff. One weird thing...
In the first 3 volumes she seemed to get it perfectly, as she compliments Emerald and Mercury whenever they manage to be fully helpful.
Not all the time. She's quick to lash out when they do something that irritates her, but she doesn't compliment them very often. However, there is a trend to when she does: it's when she's riding high on her success. When something threatens that, she turns pretty nasty (see her reaction to Emerald and Mercury killing Tukson).
Everything went her way in the first three volumes, so she was coasting along on her smugness. There were opportunities for her to issue a compliment: not because she's extending carrots but because she's gloating. It's 'faux magnanimity' if you like. That's why she can compliment Neo after Yang is framed but can't compliment her for stealing the Relic of Knowledge: her mentality and ego are in two very different places — she's flying on top of the world of the world, fully in control, smug and gloating when she 'compliments' Neo in the ambulence (and, even then, it's worded almost as an afterthought); in V7, she's just fled Ruby (again), has screamed her head off and literally breathed fire — the Relic is the only thing that goes her way. She's buried so far up her own arse in that scene that Neo's barely beeping on her radar — which shows that the V3 scene isn't about carrots; it's about Cinder only being capable of acknowledging others if she's successful enough to palm out some scraps of compliments to the peons. Hence me calling it 'faux magnanimity': it's easy to portray yourself as generous when you're 'winning'; the truth comes out when you're not.
Since the Battle of Beacon, very little has gone her way. Instead of riding high and coasting along on her successes, she's been scrabbling around for what she wants and becoming increasingly desperate in the process.
She spent the whole of the Volume 4 under Salem's thumb — and it was pretty clear she didn't want to be there. The first time since the Battle of Beacon she's set loose, she screws up and can't go back until she's found a way to make up for it. So, she juggles trying to make up for it with her desire to kill Ruby without screwing up her relationship with Salem any more than it already is.
In other words, she had free rein to control events on the ground for the first three volumes. Since Volume 4, she's either being under a very tight leash or stuck in the middle of situations she can't take control of. And she really can't handle that: she can handle being in control, but when control is taken away from her, she becomes desperate and sloppy.
Compare that to Watts and Tyrian. Their Atlas plan pretty much involves them getting caught. Captivity is just a challenge for Tyrian, one he clearly enjoys. Meanwhile, Watts sits in that prison cell looking like he's exactly where he wants to be while his opponent (the supposedly victorious Ironwood) falls apart. Watts frankly looks like the kind of character who could pull a Mr. Bridger — controlling his puppets from inside the confines of a gaol cell.
Cinder may have been able to pull of the Vale plan, but do I think she could have pulled off the Watts/Tyrian side of the plan? No. Because I don't think she can handle a plotline that involves her 'losing' just so Salem can 'win'. Watts and Tyrian, meanwhile, have a completely different relationship with the concept of control than Cinder does (Tyrian sees 'control' as something to be destroyed and Watts' relationship with 'control' has more in common with Salem than Cinder's does).
I've mentioned it before, but she also brought at least part of the Domain of Darkness with her. The miasma was forming in the sky as a herald of her arrival. I'm expecting that miasma to grow across the sky to create a faux Domain of Darkness. That should have a terrifying impact on the ordinary people of Atlas and Mantle, but it's ideal despair-inducing atmosphere for a Hope Crusher such as herself.
I hope not. I would prefer it if Summer was her own person rather than sharing both a voice actress and a physical appearance with Ruby.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.- The Warrior in the Woods - Silver-eyed warrior
- The Man Who Stared at the Sun
- The Shallow Sea
- The Hunter’s Children
- The Indecisive King (a.k.a. The King, the Crown, and the Widow) - Oz and the Relic of Choice?
- The Grimm Child - something involving Salem?
- The Judgment of Faunus
- The Infinite Man - Oz for sure
- The Two Brothers - Gods
- The Story of the Seasons - Maidens
- The Girl in the Tower - Salem and Ozma
- The Gift of the Moon
Hmm.
Lemme just make some guesses with varying degrees of seriousness:
The Grimm Child is probably some beta-Cinder or an experiment by the God of Darkness.
The Judgement of Faunus is an Adam and Eve Plot about how some guy banged a kitsune-expy and how Faunus became the tieflings of Remnant.
The Two Brothers is a Propaganda Piece spread by crazy cultists who see the dynamic of the brothers as a traditional Light Is Good and Dark Is Evil dynamic.
The Shallow Sea is about some 1.0. human screwing up, draining the ocean in a large radius, and being punished/stripped of that power.
The Indecisive King is about some king waffling, possibly in the face of great danger, and as a result his kingdom goes to pieces. Possibly invoked by Ironwood as he goes off the rails as a justification for enforcing martial law?
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my Tumblrthe four season will be probably just the same we see in world of remanent video, the same with the two brothers, granted it probably would be expanded version of it.
The same with the girl in the tower...maybe salem and ozma in her version of the story?.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Salem is capable of having children, so maybe The Grimm Child is some child Salem had with someone else down the road and had grimmified, with its allusion being Grendel from Beowulf, Salem herself being Of course Grendels Mother.
Yeah I dont know how the hell I got all of that either.
Things are really about to get Fun around hereI mean, I'm guessing that The Man Who Stared At The Sun will be a tale of one random schmuck getting screwed over by being forced into an impossible deal by the God of Light, and then the God of Light spinning the whole story into a "see, this is why you don't ask me stupid things" parable.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my Tumblr....you know Presumably Light had to answer anything humans confronted him with, no matter how damn stupid. What if that's why he let Darkness wipe out Humanity 1.0 and his condition to be brought back was so damn hard? Its all an elaborate scheme to avoid having to deal with that crap.
On a more serious note, I have a theory about Salems faction.
My theory is basically that Salem isn't being Random, she recruits a group of people with specific qualities for whatever reason. I came up with it aftet I saw a post that pointed out the Similarities between Tock and Tyrian, in the sense they were both Sadistic Faunas who's trait gave them certain dangerous capabilities(Crocodile teeth and a Scorpion Tail)

Things are really about to get Fun around hereSo should we add these to the World of Remnant page in the Myths section as neccessary, since some of the stories are already there? (We only have one to work with now, but later on...?)
Good point. Salem loves her ax crazy Faunus. (Though Tock's scales were her trait. The teeth were artificial because she liked it.)

Tyrian and tock are probably enforcers: they are needed when Salem reaaaaaaally need someone dead or in her power.
Watts is the smart of the group and clearly the guy is need for atlas, salem plan wont work so well without him.
Hazel seen to be there because he is the most peacefull so he can use to leverage diferent groups without problem.
And cinder....is probably there to take the maidens power.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"

You had no way of knowing this, but as someone who spends a good deal of time looking up deep analays and speculation for Cinder I feel called out
