Alright. Episode 4.
Training scene. Felt a bit like a sitcom, especially with the weirdly cheery music in the background, but it achieved what it meant to.
Yang time! Lovely to see her fight properly again, though I do think her fight scenes are a bit more slowed down in Maya than they were in Poser. Still really awesome though. And her being led by the beaten-up bandits was hilarious.
Loved her interaction with Raven. No love lost there. And although I wondered at first, her reason to go after Raven makes complete sense if she's not getting Ruby's letters. Raven's Semblance is very interesting, and it clears quite a lot of speculation about her... and it's incredibly ironic that someone who cares for so few has a Semblance that connects her to them.
First two RWBY girls together! Yay! (Can I ship them again? I know they've been really teasing Bumblebee, but I can still hope for Freezerburn.) Jokes aside, though, Weiss' reaction to meeting Yang was adorable. Really happy they met up again.
All in all, great episode. Pretty into it.
Also, just to get his out of my system: So while Qrow wants to be close to his loved ones but can't, his sister gets the power to be with those she loves at any time and decides she doesn't care about that. Nice. I don't know what's worse, Qrow dealing with that or Tai dealing with the knowledge that his wife could be by his side at any time and intentionally chooses not to.

But yeah that was probably purely platonic, but who knows.

"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangI don't get people talking as if Taiyang hasn't already moved on from that relationship. I mean, yeah, I'm sure he still cares about Raven, but he moved on with Summer. Seriously, it's probably more like he was married to her rather than Raven.

He may have moved on, but I imagine it must have been a hard thing to deal with at first, knowing that.

Yeah, Freezerburn! It was probably platonic, but we can hope. And I get the feeling Yang is just fed up with people abandoning her. It looked to me like Yang is kind of done with her mother, and if she wasn't her best way to get to Ruby, Yang wouldn't even have considered going after Raven. Makes me wonder how she's going to react to Blake when they meet again. There's going to be some tension there.

I mean yeah if they randomly started making out then that would be stupid, but I would hope that any kind of romance would be gradual and well-developed. Still I know that I'm not going to be bothered when it probably doesn't happen.

Indeed. But it's fun to speculate and all.
Personally, that's sort of the reason I don't like White Rose. Don't really see it at all. Only ship I really see a possibility for is Ladybug, since they at least share some interests, but even then it's reaching. It's the sort of thing that we can hope for, but no one is really going to be disappointed if their big ship doesn't come true. Well... most people won't, at least. I remember the ATLA Shipping Wars.
And yeah. Developments can always happen. If they get together now it'd be really weird, but give it some time and bonding and it can be pulled off.

I find shipping is fine so long as it doesn't get out of hand. Provided no actual issues come from shipping and discussing it, I don't really see a problem.
Also, it's why I sort of jokingly asked if I could ship them. I know some people don't really like it, and that some other people go way overboard with this kind of thing. Personally, I just find it enjoyable to ship characters a bit.

I would imagine the knowledge that a person you were close enough with to have a child with has the ability to come whenever they want but seems to have no interest in being anywhere near you or her own daughter would hit hard. Even if he has moved on I could still see that being a sore spot, especially after summer died. Generally shared grief would bring people closer, but I am guessing Raven either completely went AWOL sometime after summer died or possibly before depending on what made her stop trusting Ozpin.
I wouldn't be surprised if it did come with a connection of some kind that would allow her to know when one of the people she has that kind of bond with is in danger. That or maternal instincts which she decided to not to ignore at that moment.

"Shall I use you, or make you mine... I'm not so sure what I'll do." - DorthyHer semblance makes things much more expedient, but it's not like there was any reason to think that Raven was forced to go, or couldn't come back when she wanted to either way. Nothing we've learned actually changes that. Unless you're just talking about there being no rationalizations, but even then, if you really wanted to make some excuses for her you could.

You know, I'd find it interesting if instead of showing us Raven telling Yang and Weiss her story, they just skipped over that to make us think she's just catching them up on things, but then surprised with with a reveal by the end of the Volume. Raven clearly has a reason to have left Ozpin, and it would be a more interesting way to let us in on it than if they just outright tell it to us
.Exactly.

I loved Yang's response to learning that Raven kidnapped Weiss.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!
