Seriously, people were so upset about it they made petitions to send to Rooster Teeth to retcon Pyrrha's death. One of those petitions got 15,000 signatures.

Wait until you hear... well, I won't give you the song title because it spoils a plot point that's revealed in Volume 4, but we'll discuss everything when you've finished Volume 4.

I understand they were upset; Pyrrha's death was heartwrenching for sure. I don't care all that much about fictional characters most of the time, but I sure bawled for her. It was quite obvious she's gonna fall, though. Pyrrha's name didn't give much hope for her future - it's inspired by freaking Pyrrhus, sheesh.

Man, how come RWBY has such great music? Red Like Roses, I Burn and Die found their place in my everyday playlist, heh.
Divide, easily. I May Fall is my favorite, but it's not original to this volume, right? I swear, I May Fall perks me up whenever I feel down.
-_-
...Oh you and I are going to get along famously.
I May Fall is my favorite, followed by It's My Turn:
Check out the rest of Volume 3's soundtrack on Youtube if and when you have the chance. Full versions and at least one or two I'm sure weren't used in the Volume itself. And yeah, I May Fall was originally in Volume 1's, but wasn't used until Volume 3.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!For me, I'd say it was somewhere in the middle, but I like how it set up future things.
I'd agree with this overall sentiment. I don't regard it as a 'breather' volume, although I understand why everyone feels that it is (it's very fight-light, among other things, which is significant for a show that was marketed on its fights). I also feel it's one of the most plot-heavy and character-driven volumes of the entire show.
Speaking as a Briton who is used to shows having series' lengths of only a few episodes, I didn't think I'd ever be in the camp that says we need more episodes in a volume, as twelve fifteen-minute episodes is pretty much the same as an average British show of six thirty-minute episodes a series.
However, more physical British shows do tend to have longer episode lengths and more episodes in each series, such as Doctor Who (12 episodes of 45 minutes). I think RWBY would benefit from that approach, given the nature of the storyline.
Unfortunately, RWBY doesn't exactly have the budget of Doctor Who, so that is a problem.
I'm not as into the music as a lot of the fandom is, but there are a couple of songs that I like.
Trailers: When I first watched them, the toss up was between Mirror Mirror and I Burn. I didn't like From Shadows at all to begin with, but these days I'll listen to it before I'll listen to the other two.
Volume 1 soundtrack: I May Fall is leagues beyond any other music in that volume.
Volume 2 soundtrack: Sacrifice, no question. Nothing else in this volume comes close.
Volume 3 soundtrack: Divide has no competition at all. There's very little in Volume 3 that I like.
I'm therefore going to be interested to see if we have similarities in taste for the Volume 4 songs.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.![]()

Oooh, I had no idea such a character even existed so I assumed she's based on Pyrrhus! Shit, I'm sorry. But hey, you learn something new every day.
To be honest, I still can't quite believe she's dead for real. I guess she was destined to be a Sacrificial Lion, huh. I wonder how her death will affect Jaune... I bet he'll become quite a badass. I'm sure some people won't like him anyway, heh.

Oh yeah, that song's neat too! It's all about teenage rebellion so it's not like it's hard to relate to, heh. I May Fall is very important to me; I discovered it when I was in a real tough spot and it kinda helped me pull through. Even though I thought RWBY's a piece of overhyped crap, it made me want to watch it. I mean, I still think it's an overhyped (but very enjoyable) series, but yeah. :p
I'll let you know for sure! There's sooo much I want to talk about, but I wanna watch the Volume Four first.
And oh man, how could I ever forget about Sacrifice? I really like Cinder despite her VA and it's pretty much her freaking character song. Shame on me!
There's a moment we make a decision Not to cower and crash to the ground The moment we face our worst demons Our courage foundAchilles' mother did not want him to go off to war, so she hid him on Skyros, in the king's harem as one of his daughters (he had seven daughters). Almost no-one in the court knew the truth (well, at least until he got it on with one of the king's actual daughters and got her pregnant). There was a prophecy that when Achilles' heard to call to arms, he'd feel compelled to go and there he would die, which is why his mother hid him in a harem, the last place where a call to arms should occur. Odysseus found a way around that one, however, by offering the ladies gifts, including a shield - it was the shield that betrayed Achilles. Note how Pyrrha was killed; her shield 'betrayed' her, resulting in her receiving the arrow to the heel.
There is actually a lot of debate over what the name was of the female he masqueraded as. It's usually cited as being either Pyrrha or Issa, or, more rarely, Kerkysera.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.I was going to comment on how yet another show I watch has a newcomer with an off-the-wall opinion but that's actually not a new opinion and actually oft shared.
I have a feeling that when things really start going south in the series, their will be a soundtrack for the series inspired by Drakengard:
I. Hear. A. Sound.
Watch SymphogearNothing wrong with liking Cinder or her character song, although if you have the time I'd check out the RWBY Chibi episodes with Cinder in it. Jessica's allowed to put more emotion into her lines and it's hilarious.

Yeah, letting the V As emote and do silly stuff was one of the better things about Chibi.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Hey I just came to say that I painted this crossover fanart.
Qrow's semblance will make him the Butt-Monkey character in Chibi. He'll be giving Jaune lessons in how to be a professional Butt-Monkey while the Junior Detectives constantly investigate whether or not all the damage his semblance does makes him criminally negligent.
Qrow and Salem will be easy to chibify.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.@Wyldchyld: Oh right, I remember that story! Man, I shouldn't have skipped all those literature lessons, haha. All that talk about Pyrrha's destiny is even more meaningful now; I can definitely see the connection between her and Achilles. The Pyrrhus thing kinda works, though! Pyrrha won the battle against Penny, but it wasn't the kind of victory she wished for. I'm sure Penny will come back at some point anyway; We Can Rebuild Him is a trope, after all.
@Shaoken: Man, I had no idea RWBY Chibi's a thing. That's pretty neat! I'm gonna watch it someday, fo sho.
@Fallen Legend: Yay, more Weiss fanart! She's the best girl, definitely.

I watched the Volume Four and I can't quite believe I'm finally up to speed. I want more, dammit!
Warning: WALLS OF TEXT RIP
I understand why it's such a divisive volume. As far as the bigger plot is concerned, nothing really happens. Our heroes are trying to deal with the aftermath of that glorious clusterfuck. Yang's spirit is temporarily broken, Ruby is somewhat less perky, Weiss is stuck under the thumb of her father and Blake is doing Blake things. If you don't care all that much about character development and watch this show for the action then yeah, it's a horrible volume.
I enjoyed it, though. I feel like the writing has improved quite a lot. I enjoyed all those talks and interactions with their parents; our girls (and Jaune!) made great strides, for sure.
I didn't care all that much for Yang before, to be honest. She used to remind me too much about your average shonen heroes - too cocky for her own good. I know I deserve to get slapped for saying so, but I'm glad Adam kicked her down a notch. Yeah, that was definitely one scarring experience, but I feel like she'll become a proper hero now and not someone who's overly reliant on her Semblance. It's meaningless if you get defeated with a single strike, right? Yang's interactions with her dad were great; I loved that scene with drunk teachers. They felt like real people and not cartoonish cutouts, for once. I can't wait to see more mature, but still badass biker Yang.
I'm SO excited for Blake's subplot. Reforming the White Fang? Kicking Adam's ass? Sign me up! We'll get to see more Wukong and it's always a good thing. The guy's funny, well voiced and hot as fk. Hey, I'm allowed to have husbandos, haha~! I bet some Bumblebee shippers were pretty upset about this volume, huh? I'm not surprised, Blake and Sun spent so much time on a ship armed with bigass cannons. Roosterteeth is definitely not subtle, lol.
RWBY's not perfect. RWBY's not even particularly well-written. Rose Ruby is most likely the worst protagonist I've ever seen. Her VA is awful; she doesn't have much agency despite being a freaking protagonist. Don't even get me started about that 'silver-eyed warrior' crap.
But... Roostertooth's passion for its creation definitely shines through. Yeah, the pacing of this volume was straight up garbage. But that's RWBY for you. It's full of amateurishly handled crap. Yet RWBY's way more charming than many more professional creations. Maybe that's why I like it so much?
I don't know, but I can't wait for the Volume Five. I'll be incredibly disappointed if all this set-up won't result in a glorious clusterfuck. That cliff-hanger was so nasty, man. Is Mistral one big death trap for our heroes? I wonder if the animation will become even better too; the Volume Four was a treat to look at. :)
Oh, one more thing. Oscar has the honor of being in my pantheon of favorite characters, ever. I love reincarnation themes and that dual soul thing's fascinating. His eyes look amazing, too. I didn't care all that much for Ozpin, but it's a great way to 'bring him back', heh. I wonder what the hell's up with Ozpin, anyway. Ozpin was no Maiden for sure, but this reincarnation thing's way too similar to them. I guess Ozpin really did meet that wizard, after all.
I'm sure I'll have more to share with you guys, but I wanna rewatch some episodes first. Thanks for convincing me to give RWBY a try; this series sure deserves it. <3
Edit: I can't into folders, bluh.

@Thebrawlbro: Yeah, you have a point. Our girls sure are badass, but they're still freaking first year students. They shouldn't stand a chance against the pseudo-Maiden of Fall and an experienced psycho killer, for sure. I bet many people were extremely upset when that happened, huh?
