Ya know, the fact that the Silver Eyes thing was never mentioned by or to Ruby at any point in Volume 4 really bugs me. After a big, out-of-nowhere thing like the Silver Eyes comes up, you expect them to take some time to explain shit and, in this case, for the hero to learn how to control this power.
It'd be like if Luke Skyward suddenly used the Force to destroy the Death Star at the end of Episode IV (so if Episode IV ended exactly the way it did) and then he and the people around him never so much as mention the Force in Episode V.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Actually that is incorrect qrow explained a bit about them being the reason Salem sent someone after Ruby. Considering she probably has no idea how to even begin training in regards to activate it should be no surprise she does not talk about it.
"Shall I use you, or make you mine... I'm not so sure what I'll do." - DorthyThere isn't exactly any opportunity. She's on the road with fellow kids. We know Qrow's reasons for following them instead of travelling with them, and when they do find out he's following them, they do have a big talk in the evening, which we know covers the subject. By dawn, Qrow is in and out of consciousness so there's no further opportunities for any talk.
But I seriously wouldn't expect Qrow to be able to help Ruby understand her power anyway. It would probably require another silver-eyed warrior, not just anyone.
Well, she probably doesn't know where to start. We don't even know if she particularly wants to explore the subject given that it was triggered by Pyrrha's death (and we've been given some hints that she may be repressing where that subject is concerned).
I'm not saying I would turn my nose up at something occurring during the volume to indicate she was at least wondering about it, but we've been given a couple of hints that there's something going on her head about that, hence her odd dreams; yes, I would have liked a bit more but at least it hasn't been dropped into a black hole.
It occurs to me that Qrow keeping a lot of the Grimm away from RNJR may had reduced Ruby's opportunities for exploring the power anyway. Then again, he probably doesn't want her activating them willy-nilly given that he believes it paints a big target on her back.
That doesn't sound right to me. After all, think about this: Shane claimed that Monty's original plan was for Jaune to somehow cause Pyrrha's death for it to be a catalyst for his own growth. We know from everyone, including Pyrrha's voice actor, about how early on in the show's conception that Monty came up with Pyrrha's death scene.
Obviously we don't know how right Shane is, but he at least is one person claiming Monty had a significant role for Jaune playing out in his head.
We have heard that originally, Team JNPR wasn't going to be as significant when first conceptualised, but it was quickly realised that JNPR needed to be the second A-team. That's something Monty, Miles and Kerry have all said — and the Volume 1 opening credits make that clear, too, by focussing on both teams.
Based solely on interviews and livestreams I've seen with the creators (including Monty), I don't get the impression there was ever any question that RWBY was the A-team or that JNPR was a very significant second A-team. They've been saying that from the beginning.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. The thing is like other people said she would not exactly know where to even start. She has no other silver eyed warriors to train her and her only use was after she watched a friend get disintegrated right before her eyes. She can't even remember what she did since she said everything went white and her head started to hurt.
If she does get any development in that it would probably be from Ozpin / Oscar since he would probably have more of an idea on what silver eyes can do and how to control them.
"Shall I use you, or make you mine... I'm not so sure what I'll do." - DorthyYeah she even barely get the idea of having a power, how she is going to deal with that?
And about Jaune and Ruby...that was us actually, we speculate that the writers feel more confortable with Jaune since is easier to move and interact than Ruby who is pretty much a Monty chararter who is uber badass but rather plain overall.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"only tangentially rwby related, but michael and the AH crew were talking about voice acting at RT and Funimation on this week's Last Call
tl;dr "I'm nervous [voice acting] at Funimation. Rooster Teeth? I shit all over them cuz I'm like fuck youuuuu Jordan you piece of shit."
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterI have been wondering if we'll see an experienced silver eyed warrior at some point - to give us an idea of what experienced ones can do, but also the cost of such a lifestyle on them — so a crazy old codger who's bat-shit insane, dangerous as hell, and completely broken on the inside. You know, the kind of person that has people - fans and in-universe, both - initially going 'shit, that awesome' but eventually going 'ah, hell, is that really the fate that awaits Ruby?'.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. It does raise the question in regards to how Summer was handling things in regards Silver Eyes. She seemed to handling things well based on how she is described, but that could have just as easily been just a fake smile to hide behind especially considering she was only shown in a photo. I do also wonder where her level of experience is exactly.
I would imagine in terms experience my guess is she would be between Ruby and hypothetical sage that is completely broken inside.
"Shall I use you, or make you mine... I'm not so sure what I'll do." - DorthyMy impression is that the silver-eyed warriors is a once-a-generation thing (if not even more rare, like once-a-century). It's probably not an unreasonable assumption to say that Summer Rose was one, but other than that I'd be surprised if there's many of them kicking around.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Well, if we go by genetics, silver eyes are a variant of blue eyes. So, which ever Kingdom has the largest number percentage of blue-eyed people should be more likely to produce silver-eyed warriors, mystical bullshit aside.
Makes me wonder what happens in the event of heterochromia. If you have only one silver eye, can you use the ability? Or is the power halved?
Also, I hope nobody pulls some of the creepy eye crap that occured in Naruto. Last thing we need is someone with a silver eyes collection.
It's clearly supposed to be some super special mystical deal. I honestly find myself bewildered that every time a character with gray eyes appears people start going "maybe they're a Silver-Eyed Warrior!" it's not gonna happen.
Also, it seems pretty obvious they're making a distinction between "gray" and "silver" here.
Yeah, silver eyes is definitely mystical plot device crap. What's annoying is that there are a lot of people with eyes that are grey, or pale blue, or otherwise very similar to silver, so there's very little distinctiveness in the character design given how much of a big deal it's supposed to be.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

It would be great to finally see what happened at the top of the tower.
