... Why did you use the evil color to add emphasis? Why did your brain jump directly to that?
I was hyped to the point of maniacal glee while I was listening to the song and typing that post. Bold text just didn't quite say it.
Plus Qrow's colors are black and red, and the song seems to be him warning someone about what his Semblance does so my brain was like, "evil, yeah, that kind of works."

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I think the Volume 4 soundtrack is vastly superior to the previous volume soundtracks. I enjoyed the trailer songs, wasn't particularly impressed with most of Volumes 1-3. Yes, I like a couple of songs from those volumes, but not a huge amount. I've liked more from Volume 4, however. Not all, but 'more' is an improvement on 'some'.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. The only consistently good thing about the show and you don't like it.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I don't particularly like the RWBY soundtrack either. I'm not fond of their main vocalist, and the lyrics tend to have all the poetry and subtleness of a sledgehammer. It's just not my style.
The only RWBY song that I really like is Caffeine, which — surprise, surprise — is a different style than the rest of it.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. The only RWBY song that I really like is Caffeine
I'm not criticizing but... this confuses me.
Caffeine is like the loudest song, it's a great one, but it's the loudest.
CAUSE I'M CAAAAT-FIIEND
I'M A RAAAD SCEEENE
I'M A TAAAAAD MEEEEEAN..
BUT I'M NOOOT... FRAID TA TAKE YOU OUT.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!And so was I. You said the lyrics were subtle as a jackhammer.
The lyrics of Caffeine are loud, direct, and completely unsubtle. The song's content is hyping up how awesome Team CFVY is without really explaining anything about them or hinting at anything. Which, again, isn't a bad thing because it's used to pump up a fight scene, but of all the songs to like in the soundtrack I would say it has the least subtlety.
If you meant something else - like the instruments or the beat were more your style - then I just pegged you wrong. But if you're evaluating the lyrics based on how subtle/poetic they are then it's just paradoxical to me that Caffeine would be the one you like the most.
Granted, I like classical/piano music but Mirror Mirror is probably my least favorite song in the entire show, and I seem to like all of the head-bangy songs.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Caffeine's lyrics are also entirely unsubtle, yeah, but it's a rock song. They're supposed to be loud, direct, and unsubtle; the lyrics are just one element of the song, no more or less important than the guitar or the percussion. The rest of RWBY's soundtrack is very focused on the vocals, with the music there just as support for the vocalist.
To put it another way: if you made an instrumental version of Caffeine, I'd still enjoy the song. For most of RWBY's soundtrack, if you remove the vocals, the entire song collapses.
This isn't by itself a bad thing (there's nothing wrong with vocal tracks), but it means that doing something interesting with the vocals is really important. And RWBY's vocals are boring. Caffeine's vocals aren't any better, but the style of song is much more forgiving of meh vocals than the rest of RWBY's soundtrack.

Ah, now I understand .
Well clearly I'm going to disagree with the second point but to each their own.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!You're wrong, you're absolutely wrong, you're completely wrong and here's five reasons why.
Reason three will shock you.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I mean: One
and Two
. Four
and probably Five
.
But on another topic - for some reason it's only just really hit me that Thor and Mulan are basically an item in this series. I'd never have thought to even combine those mythologies before watching this show except in like, Fate Stay Night and Drifters or something. I feel like they should've come up with more of these.
Then again if they were trying to use these inspirations as a guide for how to write the characters then I wonder how far the allusions will go for the rest of JNPR. Pyrrha was killed by an arrow fired by Cinder, who is empowered/allied with some kind of demonic/supernatural entity who Tyrian seems to reverse as a goddess (and didn't Paris receive aid from Aphrodite since he selected her as the most beautiful goddess or something?)
From what I recall Mulan actually dies a pretty miserable death in her story, and I don't know enough about Norse myth or Joan but I doubt they were any happier.
Come to think of it well, google it, Blake and Weiss's original tales have happy endings. Ruby and Yang's tales end badly.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Jeanne d'Arc was possibly raped in prison and then I believe burned at the stake.
Thor dies during Ragnarok fighting... Fafnir? Fenrir? Either a giant wolf or a giant snake. Can't remember which. It's a mutual kill, I think.
Little Red Ridding Hood gets eaten by a wolf.
Goldilocks presumably gets eaten by the bears for being an idiot who decided to squat at a house owned by bears.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!

I know there's not much to discuss here, but let just me restate:
Qrow's theme song. Is the best thing . I have ever heard on this show. I love it when the song relates to what's going on in that oh so vague yet oh so frank way. I wish I'd read the lyrics before the episode where they revealed his Semblance.
Then I'd be like, "Oh sh't that was foreshadowing, clap clap, brilliant, excellent..."
It's bumping It's My Turn down on my list of favorite songs.
