So a site got an exclusive Short teaser clip
for the next episode that I don't think I saw anyone post here.
Basically, what I'm saying is that the content in season four as it stands is so spread out that it makes the pacing miserably slow, and the only way to fix it is to drop most of the screentime (which is just a waste of time anyway) and keep all the existing content in a much shorter period of time. Of course, the problem then is that you don't have nearly enough for an entire season, which is why I'm saying that they'd have to pull in material for whatever they have planned for season five and use it for season four instead.
I mean, if they wanted to spend some time with Oscar just seeing his normal life — going to school, working the farm, spending time with his family, etc — before the Ozpin stuff started kicking in, great. That could have been interesting. What's life like for people who aren't super-badass hunters and who don't live in the relative safety of the main kingdoms? Oscar's story would definitely be able to show us that. Do they make a big deal about staying happy and positive in order to avoid attracting grimm? Do they have a neighborhood watch sort of thing where they gather up a posse to kill any grimm that wanders too close? Do they just hunker down and call in patrolling hunters? Do they use cool robot tech or dust-enabled shenanigans for farming stuff, or is it just tractors and elbow grease? I'd totally love to have seen "a day in the life of Oscar" before he starts getting voices in his head that insist the fate of the world depends on him having adventures.
Too bad none of that actually happened. Instead we get Oscar alone on the farm, Oscar alone in his room, Oscar sneaking away from home alone, and Oscar alone at the train station (except for Hazel, briefly).
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.
It's worth noting that the show is still relatively low budget and runs on a tight schedule; they've got some notable voice actors sure, but unless you're hiring celebrities the bulk of the budget goes elsewhere in animated series, to to the extent of my limited understanding of these sorts of things, and as is always the case, time is not on your side.
I don't disagree, but I'm not sure what precisely that's supposed to be a response to. Are you saying that they didn't do a whole "Oscar on the farm" arc because they didn't have the budget to create that many new models? That's certainly a possibility, and working within their means is something every show has to keep in mind. But my point is that if they didn't have the budget for a lot of content in a long farm sequence, then they should do a short one and move on quickly. Instead they did a long farm sequence with no content, which is just a bad deal on every level.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.pretty much everything runs on a time limit tho. That’s why project managers and producers exist

"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterI've never liked the idea of a "humanoid Grimm" but the Nukalevee is about as close of a compromise as I could've asked for.
Well not really because it's more of a giant centaur shrouded in darkness.
But it looks really freaking cool and has an awesome name.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!that was in response to Captain Capsase. there is no such thing as unlimited budget and unlimited time constraints, and effective use of both is pretty much what separates bad from great in media production.
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterWell shiiiit.
I was half right about Watts; he's not the Haven Headmaster, but the Haven Headmaster IS a traitor, and given his title, I wouldn't be surprised if he was a professor at one of the academies, not necessarily Haven though. Nobody died, thank God, but there were some close calls. Yang made her choice about whether to look for Raven or Ruby, but we didn't get to see which road she took. Also, Qrow DOES know about Ozpin's Body Surf power; Oscar walks up to him and asks for his cane back, to which Qrow has to say "It's good to see you again, Oz." That doesn't bode well for Oscar's own personality remaining intact, I must say. That he kept RNJR in the dark about all of this makes me suspicious of both of them.
Strangely enough, Nucks was beaten through teamwork rather than through Silver Eyes or Jaune's Semblance, and Ren was the one to get the final blow in. Much as I expected, volume 4 was basically the journey to Haven, and now both Weiss and Blake are headed in that direction. Weiss and Blake will definitely meet up with RNJR, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Yang's going to be going down a darker road.
As for Salem and co, Cinder seems to have gotten past the "holding back" Salem accused her of by practicing on an illusion of Ruby, courtesy of Emerald, good enough to get an approving nod and smile from Salem.
Ruby also had a fairly long Kirk Summation in the form of a letter she's writing to Yang, in which she apologizes for leaving her behind in Patch, and says that while she realizes now that as Yang said "bad things just happen" sometimes, that's not going to stop her from doing everything she can to help the world.

Nice to see how the title reflects the ending before the credits pretty well. Professor Lionheart being the traitor was definitely unexpected, and its probably why Oscar went to Qrow instead. Both Ozpin and Qrow probably know that Lionheart is a traitor.
Watch Symphogear
I'm not sure they know he's a traitor, and I'm also not sure what the other Academy heads know about Ozpin and Salem; what Qrow told to RNJR may be basically the same level of knowledge that Ironwood, Glynda, and the other Headmasters are dealing with; Qrow seems to be a confidant of Ozpin's, and I'm still not sure how much he knows.

tbqh this is the exact quality i expect out of rwby. writing's always been above decent but not mind blowing, save for the end of season 3. It's more provoking than a saturday morning cartoon, but not something I need to watch like a hawk and brood upon like game of thrones.
regarding oscar, i'm firmly of the opinion that you can't rush establishing a character's baseline environment before they answer the call, otherwise the audience doesn't care about why going on an adventure is such a big deal to them. See recent example with Rogue One.
