Who says he's more attached? Ruby seems more interested in Qrow's fighting style and such so they interacted more. That doesn't mean he likes or loves Yang less or anything.

It's was a support beam or whatever, but like I said, that was in the middle of an already dangerous fight. We have no reason to assume potentially deadly things are constantly happen to people around him in mundane situations.
Like I said, for RNJR's situation, which is full of danger by its very nature, it makes more sense for him to play it safe and not potentially cause a little slip up that might cause someone their life. But that's not the same thing as assuming that just being around him is going to, I don't know, make the entire house cave in or whatever catastrophe it seems people are making constantly happen around him.

"Who says he's more attached? Ruby seems more interested in Qrow's fighting style and such so they interacted more. That doesn't mean he likes or loves Yang less or anything. "
I He call her crazy after she explain her version of the fact in the arena, something I really doubt will happen if ruby was the one frame.
" that's not the same thing as assuming that just being around him is going to, I don't know, make the entire house cave in or whatever catastrophe it seems people are making constantly happen around him."
Not but it could be, imagine being with a child or a baby and the probability YOUR presence make things worst
"we haven't seen anything like that happening when Crow was just hanging out with people, and IIRC this is the first time we've really seen him going all out."
We see a log move in the tale episode, and while the rest are no confirm we have a bunch of situation that could be explain by is semblence: in the bar a glass fall down after he leaves, Winter atack and just happen that Ironwood is there, a griffion sneak into Ironwood back and so on.
"but my point is that fans have to guess his motives are something they can agree with in order to paint as a Well-Intentioned Extremist. And when they discover their assumption was wrong, call foul. That's their error, not the show's."
I dont think is something they have to guess as is fairly smpler set up: the white fang want faunus right but they are more than willing to use violence to achive their means because they dont see anything else as posible, is pretty damn typical
"it's also speculation to claim it's Cinder's plan (which is how a lot of fans interpreted the scene)."
No really: Between black trailer and end of volume 2 we dont know the arrengement between the two so is easy to speculate, come volume 3 at show Cinder pretty much force him to go along which create this disconexion because ether he decide to go with the ride or he is just biding is time or well...something else, we dont really know, it dosent matter if no Cinder plan, is now that he didnt want to carry on and was force by gunppoint into it, only to him carry to point of throwing WF live in it which come as little odd.
" At that point, his words are not those of someone who is working with Cinder or Salem, or someone who is in the middle of wrecking a school."
Adam: we are going to fire the light of revolution...consider this the spark
Yeah, that is exactly what he is doing or is intention anyway, what is ambigious if is try to shame her like abusing boyfriend or trying to controling by call her a "TRAITOR" because she dosent share the same delusions about giving mankind justice, in this case is also a comentary of the white fang and what vision he have for blake which make go after her like a madman
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I am sorry if this has been posted before. To be frank, I have stopped trying to follow this thread at this point.
Only sometimes postsI think it's an accomplishment that the MLP thread fucking derailed into a RWBY discussion. I'm-ma cross post something I posted over there because I like what I wrote:
Jaune, as he starts out, fits a number of tropes that rub people the wrong way. Something a kin to the Unlucky Everydude, as he's not a trained bad ass like the rest of the cast but still somehow hang out with them. Like who the fuck were those two teenagers that hung out with the Super Friends? Why were they there?
Continuing off Unlucky Everydude, he's the guy you explain "As you know" too without being someone who knows. That trope, lemme just read the entry, is associated with "Bishoujo Series, especially love/harem comedies." And you'll rarely struggle for a strong Hatedom to the male protagonists of those type of series.
Jaune hit those buttons, man, and he hit them pretty hard for some people. Then, then, he drew the attention and admiration of the self-aggrandizing waifu Pyrhha, who is clearly too good for him but somehow she finds his bumbling ignorance of how great she is appealing. Then he isn't a hyper*competent enough individual to prevent the start to a series of fuck-ups that end in her demise**.
*opinion spoiler
**actual spoiler spoiler
To make it more short and succinct, Jaune suffered a little bit of the Hatedom that followed at the heels of both Wendy & Marvin and Keitaro.
Edit: And I should say, "-and characters like them."

Talking about someone being "too good" for someone always strikes me as uncomfortable unless we're just talking about a total asshole or abusive prick.
If someone likes someone and they're a decent enough person how are they slumming it or whatever? It makes it sound like there's some objective standards for how hot or smooth or whatever someone has to be to date them.
Note, this is a general thought and not specific about Jaune.

is more than Jaune arc in volume 2 look like otaku pandering like keitaro: Phyrra who is the ace love Jaune because he is nice to her which sound too much to the wishfull fantasy "awsome women need a good men because they are lonly" it dosent help her lonly at the top feel a informed atribute.
compare with Volume 3 were Jaune was suporting protagonist to Phyrra while she was burden with great responsability, for me this was better and show what she saw in him.
Granted there is the whole "shinji syndrome" throw there which it was bound to happen in cool-obsess series like this.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"dear god, Ren fangirl are going to melt with this chapter.
Not surprising, he is a typical anime protagonist of noways: skinny, dosent now what to do and got a love interest for being "nice", it just rub people the wrong way.

It's far more likely however, that Qrow was in a relationship with Summer at some point in the past that fell apart prior to Taiyang and Summer getting together, and his attachment to Ruby is his way of indulging in what might have been.
