Raven isn't with Salem - she's scared of Salem and only thinks about her tribe - as long as Salem doesn't have the relic her tribe is safe and damn the rest.

I think the fight broke her. Like the Minbari Warrior caste in Babylon Five, Raven has the strength, she's just scared of the fight and shrank back to her tribe.

Now that we have finished gnawing on this pile of bones of a topic, let's discuss something fun. Like, I dunno, a hypothetical RWBY fighting game? Specifically, who would be playable?

Well usually with Japanese fighting games, they do an Arcade release first, which has about 12-16 characters on launch. This is due to a mixture of the cost of making a fighting game character, and also for balance purposes. So the first version would have Team RWBY and JPNR. Sun and Penny were introduced in Volume 1, so they'd be in. I'd say that leaves Roman, Cinder, Mercury and Emerald to the roster for story purposes (Ie: Villain Reps). You could add Qrow or Glynda to the roster as well, although Qrow might be a time release (Ie: A character that's patched into the game after a period of time. Japanese Arcades have that capability)

I'd also say visually, everyone would use their pre-volume 4 looks. Because this is dipping into critique, but the Volume 4 outfits suffer due to poorer colours. What I mean by that is in the past, the team's outfits had a distinct colour theme to them. It struck me when I played Blaz Blue: Central Fictions, and could immediately recognise RWBY palettes due to them using the colour schemes. Ruby has contrasting Red and Black. Weiss contrasts Ruby with White and Red. Blake is... a bit of white with black streaks (Weakest colour palette, and it says something that her Central Fiction colour is the hardest to recognise as her) and Yang has Brown and Yellow. The new ones... They just don't blend the same way.

[up]Well, that and the Volume 4 outfits would be different for Team RWBY and Pyrrha wouldn't have one at all.

But aren't fighting games intentionally made for the consoles first nowadays?

[up]In Japan they are arcade first, at least in some cases.

[up]I know at least Tekken is made Arcade first then ported to consoles.

But I think Capcom and Nether Realm are developing for consoles first (barring Tatsunokovs Capcom). Don't know about Arc System works.

I do know that Street Fighter IV received an Arcade version but it was after the console and 3DS versions.

Is just mee or I feel Emerald have a crush on Cinder? she look like the "Blake" of the group: run for herself, have a thing with some unhealthy person, etc

I actually saw that more as idol worship. She's clearly happy to see Cinder but C Inder gives her the cold shoulder. She probably looks up to her, but Cinder doesn't really have time or energy for a little sister. All she did was get Emerald off the streets of wherever Emerald is from, and that was to further Cinder's goals.

Also I saw Emerald as the "Weiss" of the group.

I mean, yes, the "Blake" in terms of fighting/combat potential.

But Vol 2's opening pitted her against Weiss. And Emerald is the more appropriate symbolic counterpart:

  • To be base, dark-skinned street rat who moved up from a life of street crime to terrorism t vs ivory-skinned rich girl who had her allowance and now her inheritance taken away.
  • Emerald has no visible parentage (and probably won't anytime soon), Weiss's character arc is all about her family.
  • Emerald's two weapons and her Semblance focused on illusion, vs Weiss's single weapon and a Semblance focused on materialization.

My theory about the Mistral informant is that he's actually the scumbag from the party that looks like Neptune.

I dunno, I'm pretty sure he can go from place to place. Boats exist, so planes aren't that big of a stretch.

Travel between Kingdoms is kind of an issue now. That's the reason (or at least one of them) Team RNJR has been traveling on foot.

Considering how Blake just took a boat to... wherever she is (I cannot remember any names bar Atlas), I think RNGR was just being dumb. It's not completely out of the realm of possibility since Ruby vastly underestimated how long it would take to walk there.

Yeah, but Blake just did that recently, unless we're to assume she was on that boat for the last six-to-eight months? That isn't the implication I got from the episode.

So, either traveling by ship would take months (which is very possible, but, again, seems weird for Blake's situation) in which it would hardly make a difference for Team RNJR, or Blake had to find months finding a suitable ship in the right place, in which case the situation would probably be pretty similar for RNJR.

Mistral (where RNJR is in season four) and Vale (where Beacon is/was) are on different continents, so I'm pretty sure that RNJR took a boat part of the way — they just have to walk the rest of the way.

Of course, I'm not sure why they didn't just fly there, but it might be that long-range air travel is either prohibitively expensive, restricted to military use, or both. Either way, it sort of feels like a dodge to make sure that RNJR is wandering around the wilderness by themselves where they can have adventures instead of just showing up straight in Mistral.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

Well, at least with Vale, we were told that air travel is explicitly limited to evacuation. The other kingdoms are probably apart of that, so they could be tied up.

They were looking to take an airship from the village that Raven destroyed, so it's not like they didn't try to take a shorter route, it's just that Haven is very far island, Vale has halted all air traffic not related to evacuation and they've yet to come across a village that has anything to assist.

They didn't walk over sea. They took a boat. It's just that Mistral is far in land, while Menagerie's main city is on the coast so Blake could step right off and be where she needed while RNJR made it to the dock and then had to hike across the continent.

Well, Salem's informant was said to be in Mistral. Right now, Team RNJR is on the continent of Anima. They are not in Mistral yet. However, Sun indicated the rest of his team is in Mistral.

I've assumed that the students were evacuated back to their respective kingdoms. The question is what's happened to the Beacon students. Some of them could have gone home, the other academies might be willing to take in some of them. They might also be receiving instruction in a temporarily location in Vale and helping the fully trained huntsmen protect Vale or try and clear Beacon of Grimm to restore it.

While I do think Raven has some connection to Salem, I'm not sure she's the informant, given the informant is in Mistral.

My two options for the Mistral headmaster:

  • Pyrrha's father (this is based on the fact that Pyrrha said her mother's favourite fairy tale was the fairy tale that ended up getting Pyrrha killed — and the evil me wants Pyrrha's mother to know that, which would require someone in Pyrrha's family being in the Benevolent Conspiracy, in other words, the Beacon head).
  • The third White Fang leader. Given the one on the left has a cat-like shape, that's probably Sienna Khan. However, that means that Sienna Khan is not the true leader of the White Fang - because the silhouette in the centre of the picture is implied to be the overall leader - especially given the fact the silhouette grins at the audience. I'm thinking that Khan is the decoy leader, with the true leader being hidden in the shadows behind him... Beacon headmaster and secret White Fang leader.

That's based on my belief since forever that one of the academy heads has to be secretly opposed to Ozpin and therefore a leak of information to Salem. And, since everyone's been hoping to get to Haven, and both Qrow and Ozpin have talked up the Haven head, I'm having even more bad vibes than I was having right back in volume 2.

And, yes, that does mean I'm thinking that, if the headmaster is a relative of Pyrrha's, they'll be a secret villain (the exact opposite of Pyrrha — Beneath the Mask, that is).

Anyway, Team RNJR won't be getting to Haven by the end of Volume 4. Haven will be Volume 5. Volume 4 will climax with:

  • Adam attacking Menagerie (and Khan will turn up to save the day thereby coming across as a 'good guy' to Ghira).
  • Weiss discovering that Klein is as loyal to Jacques as Jacques previously warned his staff would be.
  • Ruby and Jaune confronted by the big hoofprint creator.

  • Still expecting Marigold to eventually turn out to be an ally who is playing the whole Bruce Wayne/Oliver Queen rich-people-are-dicks-by-day-vigilantes-by-night thing).
  • I will laugh so hard if the Haven headmaster turns out to a relative of Jaune's.

[up] What about Watts being the headmaster? I presume the "Doctor" title isn't just for show, so it's quite likely he's a Haven Professor, perhaps even the top dog.

Him being a professor at Haven would be interesting, but if he was the actual headmaster he probably could have just snuck the relic out and given it to Salem already.

[up] I assume there's people like Qrow and Glynda around who might not be in on it. Alternatively, Watts may be the second in command at Haven.

LSBK Since: Sep, 2014
#44149: Jan 11th 2017 at 5:07:02 PM

Maybe, but from the way Qrow described it, I felt like the headmasters, specifically, are responsible for the relic. As in they're the only ones who know of its location/has access to it.

Which could be totally wrong, but that's how I read it.

Shaoken (4 Score & 7 Years Ago) Relationship Status: Dating Catwoman

We have no idea what the relics physically are, perhaps Haven's relic is too big or too noticeable to be snuck out without people realising it.
