I concur with Jovian and Very Melon. There's been a lot this season that's felt superfluous. There's enough things that I do like that I'm still willing to watch, but I still can't shake the feeling that we're treading water.
That even includes some things I genuinely found fun. I liked the opening fight in Episode 1, but it doesn't really advance the plot. I liked the fight with the Sea Serpent in Episode 3 (despite the nonsense surrounding it) but it didn't really advance the plot. In fact, until Tyrian showed up, none of the fights had advanced the plot, which is a bit of an issue.
I can understand them in a romantic series. I mean, stupid as Twilight was, I get where the war was coming from. There wasn't anything else to care about (unless you're like me in which case you cared about dissecting the books for blatantly sexist content and plain old bad writing, but I'm a bit of a resistant reader).
In the case of a series like RWBY there are other things to care about, folks.
I usually just pick a ship I like but I don't attack others for supporting a ship with one of the characters in the ship that I support.
As for a RWBY fighting game:
- Team RWBY
- Team JNPR
- Team SSSN
- Team CFVY
- Cinder
- Emerald
- Mercury
- Roman
- Neo
- Adam
- Salem
- Watts
- Hazel
- Tyrian
- Ozpin
- Glynda
- Ironwood
- Summer Rose
- Taiyang
- Raven
- Qrow
- Winter
- Possibly Jacques and Whitley due to Catharsis Factor
Ships only get interesting to me if there's, well, something interesting about the relationship. There are certain relationships in certain shows that I'll talk about because of what I think they say about the characters, or how I think the relationship improves the characters. Beyond that though...
Ok, a couple of thing here:
Ambar: well, now is easy to talk about sun from that perpective since the whole "if he creepy douche" tainted everything(not your fault, is a touchy subject) and in that way I kinda agree, I feel the humor use on Sun does NOT fit the chararter, they try to make him plunky or clumsy but...he is not, if Jaunce interrupt blake for example, I can belive him since is his type of humor.
Actually, I think is another problem of RWBY using anime tropes: sometimes they take some that are rather...problematic, like this one or Phyrra X in Volume 2.
Soble:
well, the whole shipping thing was not a surprise since Volume 2 was waaaaay more shipping happy than other volumes: Sun and Neptune enter the show, Jaunce and Phyrra got their on arc, Blake and Yang share a intimade moment, Penny got more friendship with Ruby, that and there was very little fights
Actually, now that I thing about it, Season 2 feel like slice of life with awsome fight rather than awsome series with slice of life moments.
Anyway, about shiping...Yeah, Is just mee or I feel Emerald have a crush on Cinder? she look like the "Blake" of the group: run for herself, have a thing with some unhealthy person, etc.
Jovian:
I really disagree on Blake, Ghira was part of the white fang, she run away from them and them run away from Adam and them try to run away after he edgy Yang hand away, also your situation ignore something: can we really think Blake is going to set down and quit? it would like the best definition of running away "let other handle the abuser who said is going to suffer" that it, Sun was right to point out how Adam is going after her, the biggest diferent between Blake and Yang arc is that the former have something to pull her into action while the other dosent.
About Weiss: the point is not what she chose but is the very thing about it: she should chose, the bigger point her is that Jacques is taking that away for her, is clear all her chose are inmaterial if someone else is doing for her.
And about Yang...well, her arc should be heavy, I think Korra 4 season actually deal this in a better way, but you cant skip it, it would be a big waste and quite insulting, not saying this is good...but it is better.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"

I understood your point, it's just not something I can agree with.
