Which didn't make it not boring. Outside marching orders, a few cryptic hints, and Salem deciding to senduh Faunus ta catcha dat dair Rubeh nothing much happened.
Opinions can't be bad...only wrong.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. Is it just me or did they change the animation for the aura break? It looks like they did and it looks super cool now.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!![]()

Yeah they did. Previously it was just a momentary flash throughout the whole body. This time it lingered on Qrow for a while and continued to crackle like electricity, which looked sweet.

I agree. I honestly didn't get very invested into his fights because the choreography is all that it had, and it wasn't often that impressive.

Oh, but have you heard the tale of Monty Oum?
The legend was back then that he did all of this
by himself. No team, all by himself, self-taught from watching action movies. Pretty sure this kind of fan animation was unheard of back then. Like, Death Battle didn't even exist, and there wasn't any Superpower Beat Down or One Minute Melee. As the creators of Super Mario Bros Z, Skullgirls, and several defunct indie games can properly attest - animating by one's self is really fricking hard.
That's at least where some of the gushing comes from. Not sure if it was true that he worked by his lonesome but there was never any evidence to the contrary.
Then you've got stuff from Dead Fantasy.
I don't think I need to post Yang vs Neo. Maybe it's Nostalgia Filter rearing its ugly head - especially because at the time Halo Legends and Halo Nightfall didn't exist yet, and no one had seen video game characters move this way outside of Ninja Gaiden or fighting games - but this
still looks really freaking cool.
And besides those things, that Dance Battler fighting style seemed to be his thing. Always gave his fights a kind of flair. I've said it before; I think Monty's style was terrible for RVB, and much better for RWBY, which warranted crazy batsh't fight scenes with anime styled characters and over-the-top fight sequences.
Anyway, if this
doesn't grab you then you probably just don't care for it. Which... is... an acceptable... position... I suppose.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!So an interesting observation; during episode 7 when Qrow's aura breaks, it's color is different in the two shots where it flickers; first dark red, the color of his cape pretty much, then a brighter red pretty much identical to Ruby's.
I wonder if they'll ever get into the details of how semblances and aura develop, but I could totally see that being the result of Qrow having being her mentor in fighting and aura channeling. Or maybe he's her real father. I do definitely think it's plausible Qrow had some unrequited love for/was previously in a relationship with Summer prior to het getting invovled with Taiyang, and now that she's gone, his attachment to Ruby comes from him thinking of what might have been had things worked out differently between them.
Qrow told them to stay back, and they listened, that's fair enough for me.
As far as lacking merit goes, I don't think it's necessarily impossible, especially if Qrow ran off like Raven but came back later out of guilt, but there's no indication that this is the case, and Ruby's parentage is unlikely to become plot relevant (ie, MacGuffin requires a set of siblings to do X, Ruby and Yang do X, but it doesn't work because surprise they're cousins), so it's not a particularly likely twist.
But I would be shocked if he didn't turn out to have once had a thing for Summer; he's closer and more involved in Ruby's life than that of his biological niece it seems, and that probably has a story behind it.

Honestly, I never got the Monty choreography craze and why everything was worse without him either. I mean, I adored the fight in Red, and the fights in general are great, but while Re'd my fave trailer and intereted me, it's the humour that actually got me into the show (not that the fights aren't fun, but still) and followed by that, the way the characters bounce off of each other. (Plus, I'm a sucker for worldbuilding, and RWBY is a fun world even without the plot attached to it)
these are my opinions. there are many like them, but these ones are mine.

"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterSo some just occurred to me refgarding the maiden powers and why Cinder is so vulnerable to Ruby's power. Since her power is something Grimm are weak against, some have guessed that the Grimm parasite used to gain the fall maiden's power has made Cinder part Grimm. That may be the case, but I can't help but think there's something more.
Remember when we hear Cinder talking to Salem is "Beginning of the End"? They mention "reclaiming what is ours" in relation to the Fall Maiden's power. I am inclined to think that claim is genuine, and the maiden powers are connected to Salem.
I would go on to theorize that Ruby's power is not just effective against Grimm, but against everything related to Salem's people, who were transformed into the first Grimm, connecting it to my theory that Salem is the last surviving member of a race of Precursors.
I mean, I would think "reclaiming what's ours" relates to something in a bigger picture and that the Maiden powers are just a stepping stone to that. Salem basically says as much when calling Cinder the key to their victory.
But I do agree about Ruby's power not just be effective against Grimm.

The fact they just let Tyrain escape is bugging me even more. His aura was down, his tail removed, and the odds are not in his favor. Those other 3 should have pressed their advantage! Or at least maybe go to try and Qrow call out don't or something. Don't just stand there and watch him retreat.
Hell, given what their mission is, they just gave up a great lead.
