As far as Ruby's motivation goes, to a certain extent I feel like she doesn't really know herself beyond "I want to help people", or at least she can't really articulate it beyond that.
It's one of the reasons why Ruby falling on the high functioning end of the autistic spectrum is one of my pet 's; that interpretation of her character wraps many of the show's deficiencies in her characterization into a single, quite reasonable (IMHO) narrative which offers some fairly novel avenues for future development.
Lack of an apparent motivation beyond "I want to help people"? It's often difficult for people on the spectrum to articulate their own feelings and motivations, especially if an appropriate narrative hasn't been rehearsed.
Embarking on a massive journey without a particularly solid plan? Deficiency in executive functions (and co-morbidity with ADHD) are also extremely common.
Plus, there's nothing wrong with adding "invisible" forms of diversity.
Yeah, Qrow is definitely going to be incapacitated.

I suspect Tyrian will come back for round 2, since the show has thus far loved to let us think we're in the clear only to Yank the Dog's Chain, and Ruby (and possibly also Jaune) actually getting captured and meeting Salem face to face is one way that the plot could end up moving forwards. Or at least it did so very effectively with Pyrrha, putting her in a position where we expected something horrible to happen to her, spared her the implied horrible fate of aura transference and let her and Jaune escape from Cinder alive and well, only for her to die the very next episode.

I mean, can scorpions grow back their tails? I've never heard about that, but they might take some liberties with him.
But it kind of seemed like he was giving up, at least for now. He was mumbling "she'll forgive you" to himself, so he seems to be hoping Salem will be fine with him coming back with no silver-eyed girl in tow.

Not in the sort of hard Word of God joss IIRC, more a "we didn't consider that when writing her character" joss, which could easily be reversed if they can't find a satisfactory way to make her character develop without losing the quirks that are deemed essential; a lot of Word of God diagnoses of mental disorders have come post-hoc after somebody pointed their character's behavior actually fits the bill pretty well and and the writer thought "what the heck."

Tyrian may have been talking to (or about) Ruby, since Salem wants Ruby intact, presumably to try and turn her against Ozpin. As far as the tail goes, I don't know if Scorpion tails grow back, but even with his tail out of commission, he'd be a match for RNJR if Qrow is incapacitated.

Ok, a lot is going on here, let see:
Abotu Ruby fighting skill: so far people are giving her a light time sbecause she is VERY good killing grimm(the nevermore in volume 1 and the red trailer) so far she only fail againt Roman, Mercury(that wasnt even a fight) and Tyrian who is above everyone league, contrast with Blake who dosent that much until the dragon fight in volume 4, funny thing is Weiss the one who have worst track record since she was beaten by Elite mook who just grab her face and lost in very patetic manner against FNIK.
About faunus racism: Im with Zelenal here, we know there is racism but so far it feel...absent aside of thing the bad guy said because they are....well...bad, but hey they are not people
"What is this, Star Wars? "
No until Blake and Yang kiss and THEM reveal they are sisters
"This man is just cartoonishly evil.
"
I have to said, the first thought it cross my mind was "Men, you make Hank pym proud with that slap"
Also I have a question here: since Ozpin said their aura(souls) have combined....is this mean that would happen to Phyrra? half of Amber soul would go to her?
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Funny thing, the othr chararter with a hilariously cartoonish slap was Adam who pretty much give Blake a pimp slap, I almost laught in that moment on how bad it was.
Which make me thing, if this mean the new maidens take the soul of the person who dies? because this is some avatar shit going on.
I predict that Qrow will survive being poisoned, but it takes him out of the next big fight and RNJR has to step up to the plate to fight off Tyrian and maybe a lackey.
Then when everything looks like it's going to be alright, maybe right after they find clues about Cinder/Salem's plot, someone will pull the carpet out from under them and take Ruby to Cinder.

Caught the new episode.
Hoooo boy, this might just be the best episode of the series. That fight was pretty damn awesome and the beginning bit with Oscar and Ozpin was really cool. You also have the stuff with Weiss coming to a head which is good.
I don't think Qrow's going to die but he'll definitely be out of action for a while.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!
