Though it's not clear if her drinking is because she is an alcoholic, or if that is how she deals with family related stress.
Her summoning here seems similar to her partial summon in volume 3. She didn't seem to realize she summoned until after it blocked for her. So summoning when not controlled could be tied to ones emotions. She wanted to protect velvet so the arm acted as a defense and eliminated the treat. She was angry so her summon acted on that anger and lashed out at things that seemed to have stimulated that anger.
"Shall I use you, or make you mine... I'm not so sure what I'll do." - DorthyQuestion about the latest episode (Chapter 6):
What does Tyrian say when he's on top of the roof, just after he's revealed his tail? He says something like "My heart and body belong only to...." What's the word? It makes Ruby think he's talking about Cinder, but it's obvious to the audience that he means Salem. I didn't catch the word though.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. The way Qrow entered that fight was... cheesy, yet fitting.
And Tyrian being a Scorpion Faunus just makes sense when you see him crouching down with his blades like that. So now the weapons feel a little less Awesome, but Impractical.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Damn it, Tyrian won me over.
In any case, I do agree that we shouldn't jump to conclusions on why Tyrian is interested in Jaune, but I took it as him knowing Jaune's lineage. Like, Jaune comes from a family of heroes.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-Mae![]()
Let's be honest, we will all be terribly pissed if that happens.

I like that the plot's finally going somewhere, but I'm saddened that the choreography, what first drew me to the series, has taken such a hit in favor of animation fluidity. I'm hoping they can find someone to at least go closer to what Monty or Shawn did, because this fight didn't hold a candle to the ones of previous volumes.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Some stuff from Tumblr people consider.
- Tyrian's eye color changed from yellow at purple at some point. People suspect that his tail holds a bunch of different toxins and they change accordingly with his eyecolor.
- The stinger hit Qrow through the blade's conspicuously-placed hole. Of course, he likely has Aura to spare, but an amusing notion is that the next ep begins with him getting KO'ed/dying.
Also, a thought: there supposedly was a about half a year of a timeskip between Vol. 3 and Vol. 4, right? Are they... travelling for like seven months now and only now Ruby brings up the fact that she expected the journey to take a month at best?
I don't know. Tyrian's creepy, jumpy, hoppy, climby fighting style, the way he grabs onto Jaune's shield, leaps a quarter of a mile across town, flings himself into buildings... like seriously what the f-
I'm actually kind of glad some of Monty's trademarks are gone - no dramatic "characters sticks a landing and slowly looks up with determination on their face" moment, no "character lowers their stance and then closes their eyes just because" moment. No Dissonant Serenity in the fight at all really. Other than Tyrian throwing himself into a building for no apparent reason the fight was pretty grounded. I like how the camera tends to jerk whenever Tyrian gets close or whenever someone takes a swing.
And Ruby targeting Nora was clever. Monty's fights usually invoke Crazy Awesome She-Fu to me. Which works great in RWBY because RWBY is so anime-like to begin with. But when he left RVB the fights in that show became a little more "Halo-ish," less "character abandons all logic and decides to take enemies out in the most Bad Ass, least practical way possible" and more "character fights long-ranged because that makes more damned sense then every fight turning into an MMA match."
I think Monty's real contribution in the choreography department were fights like Yang vs the Malachites, and Yang vs Neo. Stuff like that nobody else can seemingly do. I'm not sure but I heard some of Monty's footage was used in Volume 3 and I would guess it was probably Mercury and Emerald vs CFVY. If it wasn't then that fight was still pretty good, probably my favorite out of Volume 3. The way Neo fought at the end of Volume 3 seemed to lack Monty's influence, but still pretty stylish while showing off how well Torchwick and Neo fought together.

Tyrian's line was, ""Who I am matters not to you. Or you. Or, well (looks directly at Jaune)... you do interest me. No, I only matter to you (points behind Jaune, to Ruby). I don't know, for some reason I'm 50-50 on that, seemed like he was pointing at Ruby and Jaune just reacted before she did.

What is this Ozluminati business tho? Is he aware that Ozpin is busy scaring the wits of a random farmboy? Plus, with Glynda at Vale and Ironwood at Atlas, you can't exactly plan too much.
And, well, for all intents and purposes, he's still in the middle of the tropics. Unless Various Ozluminati Goals were conspiciously placed a little ways from RNJR's road to Mistral, I can't see him doing much.

Anyway, Wheatley was conspicuously absent at the party, wasn't he?
