Do we need confirmation? Both their exits are concrete...

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Roman is absolutely dead. The writers confirmed during a live stream that he's dead.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! The wind killed her...I'd believe that.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. The last time we saw Neo, she was being carried off into the wind with her magic floaty umbrella. Landing Strategy is such a simple concept to these characters that students at Beacon were expected to have already mastered it before attending. Also, Neo is her crew's teleporter.
I not only see no reason to assume she's dead, I would go so far as to call bullshit on any claim that her departure killed her. It's as "inconclusive" as Superman falling off a cliff.

That's the point.
- She floated to safety on her umbrella.
- She exercised a Landing Strategy.
- She tanked the fall with her Aura.
- She f*cking teleported.
Go ahead and choose your own answer for why she's not dead. The result is the same.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.1 isn't really an option due to how fast she flung off the ship...she's probably still flying away.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. If they do bring Neo back I'll be curious to see what they do with her. She always seemed more associated with Roman than she was with Cinder's crew (she ran with them when he was in jail, sure, but as soon as he was out she went right back to supporting him) and her going to work for Cinder/Salem wouldn't quite feel right to me.
One thing I do find sort of funny, by the way, is that for all that Roman was removed from the show because he was the Starter Villain and would supposedly soon reach the point where he could no longer be threatening he never actually got there. Sure, Blake pulled off a lucky win against him in Season 2, but that's pretty explicitly meant to be a fluke, as evidenced not only by what comes before, but by what comes after. The last thing we see Roman do before dying to a Grimm is hand Ruby her ass in hand-to-hand. For all that that was an awesome high note for him to leave on, I rather wish Ruby had killed him instead. It would have felt like a better conclusion to their enmity.

It was even until it became 2 v. 1.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. Also, Ruby flat out killing Roman would feel... Out of character for her. As much as I hate the fact that RWBY's Mercutio is removed from the picture after so effectively stealing the show, it would be even worse if Ruby killed a living person outright, even if he was an awful person.
Leave that to, like, Blake or someone else who is jaded enough to use lethal force on a living person.
"Evii is right though" -Saturn "I didn't know you were a bitch Evii." -Lior ValTorchwick handed Blake her ass the first time around.
Establishing Character Moment for him because up until that point we had no indication he was a competent fighter. We never saw him in a 'fair fight" so to speak, but his ability to take Blake and Sun on at practically the same time was impressive, and then Ruby is apparently Ganondorf-tier when it comes to H 2 H.
So I'd guess it was about as close as it would have been normally. Neo being there just turned it into an SNK Boss fight.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Watching the fight, Roman favors carefully aimed single strikes/shots, and relied on Neo's faster and more acrobatic fighting to keep Ruby off balance so he could get a hit in. Once Neo was gone he often had the upper hand, but he kept losing it. He let Ruby climb back up from the side of the ship, they fought and he knocked her down, but then she kicked him back. He managed to knock her down again and was about to hit her, but she was already on her feet again by the time the Grimm gobbled him up.

RE: Roman
Entertaining and interesting can be the same thing at times, in so far as you can wonder what has made the entertaining person into an entertaining person. Contrast Cinder where I don't care how she got to be who she is, because she bores me to tears.
And of course that's before you get to his Motive Rant which expounds on his philosophy of life, such as it is, and hints at some pretty major emotional damage somewhere in the backstory. Few people get that jaded and cynical without something bad having happened to them (whether we're talking about one spectacularly bad thing, or just a lot of little things, I don't know).
Basically Roman was fun to watch and had at least a suggestion of an interesting backstory. That's not really true of the other villains. Mercury's got a potentially interesting backstory, but his persona doesn't extend beyond smug bastard, Emerald's in a similar boat, and of course Cinder is void of all of the above.
