What we know about Whitley:
- He's Weiss' little brother.
- They seemed not to get along much before Weiss left, but he claims to have grown out of it.
- He doesn't get along with Winter either, which I can't blame him for.
- His first and only scene has him giving a heads up to Weiss about their dad, which earns sincere thanks from her.
- He looks less miserable than Weiss and Winter in their family portrait.
- He has rich-kid mannerisms.
That's it. Honestly people just seem to be projecting.
Just that going the guy who is "tarnishing" the Schnee name married into the family and isn't a "real" Schnee indirectly weakens Weiss's point.
It's an easy way to go the "real" Schnee's are actually honorable people and that he doesn't count because he's not really one of them. People do stuff like that all the time.

I get the hypocrisy you're referring to, but I think that's just in our heads and won't ever come up. There's no indication Weiss have ever thought that - the fact Weiss claims to deeply want to redeem the Schnees' name would imply to me she's not going to sit with such a logical cop-out anyway, which is the only benefit to adopt it at all in her case (If she's going to work hard to fix her family's name, it won't matter whether the problem is No True Scotsman or not - she's fixed it anyway).

I'm not talking about Weiss herself, I'm talking about the audience. People routinely look for such things in fiction when stuff like this comes up, that's why it's a copout. Weiss herself not thinking about it that way doesn't change the fact that it's what a lot of people would take away from it.
Edit: Like, to give an example from another series. In Adventure Time, when the character Finn's biological father was revealed there were so many people who immediately jumped to him not really being his father or lying about it because the guy was a douche, though Finn himself didn't. The audience is constantly looking for outs about unfortunate or uncomfortable situations like this.

Hey, maybe Weiss' mom and dad are ''both'' Schnees.
What? Like every other possible form of incest hasn't been joked about in this thread?
And in his first scene it's established that he seems different from how Weiss remembers him.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!
x4 It might've just been 2 types...
Forgot the pothole.

- Salem: Would you care to take a seat?
- Mercury: What's that supposed to mean?! Is it because I don't have legs?!
- Salem: ...what.
- Emerald: (whisper) The hell are you on about?
- Mercury: I don't know! It was an impulse! I panicked! Now I have to stay up here to save face. Would you just stand next to me so I don't look like an idiot?
- Emerald: Fine, but you owe me one.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

Not really sure what you mean, I'm not saying Weiss would be thinking of it in those terms, just out of universe it's a bit of a cop out to go "No he's not really a Schnee".
