I'm divided on whether or not I should call Whitley a smug little bastard. He probably doesn't deserve the last part, though, unless he starts kicking puppies. Or is actually a bastard child.
I mean, Whitley's discussion with Weiss made me think she expected him to be more conniving and mocking toward her, but his sensible warnings and respect for Winter implied he'd actually become more genuine, judging from Weiss' earnest thanks. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he's actually a decent guy all things considered.

We see Weiss being suspicious of him, which makes us suspicious of him. We hear that he dislikes Winter, and as the audience loves Winter that turns us against him. We see him saying that he's grown and changed, and that makes us question whether he has—like if he were to say "I'm a nice guy." Doesn't help that he looks like Draco Malfoy. There are just a lot of flags that he isn't trustworthy, although it's impossible to say what form that will take right now.
Does anyone actually read these?I'm just saying "This character dislike this character I like so they're probably up to know good!" is incredibly faulty reasoning, especially given the relationship. He even complemented her.
That, and as previously mentioned, shipping means nothing.
But anyway, I take it we won't be meeting Weiss' mother given her lack of appearance in the opening.

I'm just saying, the scene gave a lot of reasons to think that there's something off about him. Heck, complimenting a person that someone else then points out that he dislikes could easily be interpreted as being two-faced, especially when it's all done with an unchanging smile.
I think you're probably right about the mother thing. I guess she must not be an important player in the family politics.
Does anyone actually read these? Not really sure how it's being two-faced when he wasn't hiding it but whatever. None of the reasons you came up with really hold up to scrutiny in my opinion, but again, whatever, we'll see.
Edit: And that's not even necessarily a comment on what I think is role in the story is going to be.

Just caught the new episode.
I don't trust Whitley. I don't trust Jacques either. I'm not sure who I trust the least.
Klein is weird. He kinda reminds me of Launch.
Oh god. That ending. I'm not crying, you're crying.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!![]()
Why would you trust the father anyway?
Unless you don't trust that he's bad guy.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. The moon being broken wouldn't actually affect the tides at all, as long as it's mass is mostly intact and in the same place, which seems to be the case. Without a big chunk of the moon either missing entirely or being somewhere else, the gravitational effects would be minimal.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. The moon being broken is typically a meaningful detail. It's subtle foreshadowing for whatever broke the moon, which either inevitably becomes part of the conflict at some point or is a critical piece of background lore that sets the stage for the conflict.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

That would also fit in with the manga's claim that the knight Weiss fought was Grimm-powered. Note that most of Schnee's bookends were wolf heads with a rather Grimm look to them.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.
