I don't think that the Silver Eyes power defeating Cinder was necessarily what was important, so much as it defeating the dragon was. Best case scenario, Ruby manages to take down Cinder after a prolonged battle. Then the dragon eats her and resumes destroying Vale.
Cinder's damage was already done. Beacon Tower was destroyed, CCT was torn down, the dragon was unleashed upon the city, the Fall Maiden was killed and her power assimilated, Ozpin was killed or abducted or whatever happened to him. Also, Pyrrha died. The Silver Eyes meltdown defeating her achieved nothing. She'd already won and none of her victories could be taken back.
But it also froze the dragon, which moved the needle on the Vale battle from "HAHAHA you're screwed" to "might be possible".
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.How long should we spoiler talking about the new episode? To be safe, I love how stereotypically, yet subtlety, Weiss has the messed up rich person family. Seriously, her first thought is that her parents are arguing, then her brother casually says that mother is already drinking in the garden as if that should be obvious.
In any case, the point is, I found it a massively unsatisfying plot twist and the worst sort of lazy writing. Whether or not you agree that it's technically an example of the Deus ex Machina trope, it still soured me on the series.
Anyway, I'll probably end up giving the first couple episodes of season four a shot and see what I think of them, since they've apparently pulled back somewhat from the tone at the end of season three. We'll see how it goes.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.
x4 When Youtube ver. comes spoiler tagging will become pointless for the current episode...
But new episode will be out by then and no one will continue talking about previous episode...
Except for the one slowpoke.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.'"Ruby has silver eyes" would be a Chekhov's Gun if a situation came up where they need someone with silver eyes for some reason. Ruby gaining superpowers because of her silver eyes, when silver-eyed superpowers had never been mentioned before, is a Deus ex Machina.'
Not necessary.Hers the example from the Chekhov's Gun Page.
'a character may find a mysterious necklace that turns out to be the power source to the Doomsday Device, but at the time of finding the object it does not seem important. The necklace was essential to the story, but its introduction downplayed its importance. .
The part in bold fits the Silver eyes thing.

I think they're gonna be friends...
Just like Norkyrie and Ren...
The best of friends...

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Weiss is a very different person around her family. The person she's most Weiss-y around are her brother and butler. So she adored her older sister and has at least a decent relationship with her brother, wonder why the other two sibling don't get along.
Looking back, Ruby shouldn't have been surprised by Jaune's hoodie. Remember his pajamas?

She probably wouldn't remember that, she only saw them once...and while I know that in fiction land characters have impeccable memory, it's been more than a year since.
They both like eachother...they're just denying the possibility for safe reason.

I'm still confused on what was supposed to be the Maiden's power and what was supposed to be Cinder's semblance.
