So, what's everyone's pet theory about Farm Boy? Apparently the big ones are either that he's a exception to the female only rule and the Spring Maiden, or trans and the Spring Maiden. I doubt it's either, but between the two I like the latter better.
But, anyone got anything else? I'm kind of hoping he has some other power that hasn't been brought up yet.
(Just ate through a box of honey buns and the sugar is catching up with me, post will be spellchecked later) ...
It's the braid, the overly white color scheme, the way he looks and him being gleefully insane. Kimblee indeed had class
but he was also gleefully, batshit insane when he wanted to be. I don't remember the difference between 2003 Kimblee except that he partnered with that filler villain guy who was part cyborg. And I mean
tell me you don't see the Kimblee in there.
Granted, an Ax-Crazy-ier Kimblee.
I want to say it's also because his weapon is Awesome, but Impractical even for this show, but, then, it's hard to say any of the weapons in this show aren't unusual or impractical.
Anyway that was my first impression before learning his name, and it was either that, or call him Male Bayonetta.
I KNOW RIGHT!?
Like what the frack random farm kid. I don't usually harp on RWBY's writing but that was completely... I mean something better happen with that.
Team Evil WTCH is a bag of dicks? Yes, even the women.
It's as I thought. The reason it's taking/took them so long to get to Mistral is because they were SIDEQUESTING the whole damn time. I could totally see an RPG coming out of this arc. It has felt that way ever since we learned about people living outside of the kingdoms. If not for that tidbit this would've seemed like a Lighter and Softer Attack On Titan.
Oh f'ck the hell yes we are, we are.
First I've heard of either. And it'd be kind of schmaltzy for the show to violate it's own logic immediately after introducing said logic. Unless farm boy is secretly farm girl.
Approved.
I like both of these actually.
All the caffeine in Ozpin's soul accelerated his reincarnate's growth. Ozpin doesn't even have a soul. It's just a Cuisinart
and a bag of coffee grinds in there.
F'ck everything this season, I can't stop listening to the opening song, and so far we're towing the line between Breather Season, with JNRR, Blake, and Yang healing, and Cerebus Syndrome, with the villains assembled, ready to f'ck shit up.
Which was pretty my favorite season, as it forced each character to develop, told different stories, raised the Holy Sh't Quotient, and killed off a bunch of filler characters nobody liked.
If this is anything like Red vs Blue this'll be a calmer season with sh't on the horizon, but because of the aforementioned towing of drama and comedy I haven't a clue.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!edited 29th Oct '16 12:16:44 PM by UndyingPhoenix
Damn mobile phones messing up my texts. Anyway much like a few anime time skips things will feel slow as we get to learn about what our heroines have been up to with the plot slow building in the background. Remember how it took a while for stuff to happen in One Piece after the Pirate War arc?
Just Makima. So yeah, this season since to have a healing nature to it, soften the scar left in season 3, is a shame for a despair lover like me but well, that is how it work
But consider Walking dead already give me good and sweet despair in is opeing season I can be happy for a while
2003!Kimblee was a ranting nihilist who hated humanity and railed about how "humans aren't so special. Just the parts you need to create a bomb." His personality didn't extend beyond "sadistic thug". The manga version, conversely, brought a far more philosophical bent to his evil, what with his whole belief in people being able to surprise you and his loathing of hypocrisy.
Like what the frack random farm kid. I don't usually harp on RWBY's writing but that was completely... I mean something better happen with that.
Given that he woke up from his nightmare in the midst of Tyrian's evil laugh I'm hoping he has some sort of connection to the crazy bastard. If only to give some more depth to what otherwise looks like it's going to be a pretty standard villain.
It's not that I'm surprised they are dicks who are critical of one another. More that the nature of the mockery seems somewhat off. Again, while Cinder was certainly capable of talking a lot, it was usually with a cause, which makes Watts' bit about being glad she's silent now seem off. That's why I'm curious as to what the dynamic was like before Ruby burnt her.
I don't want to count our chickens yet on that front, but I'm hopeful. The Geist being able to match RNJR for as long as it did was a good sign, as was the Beringel's fairly lengthy one-on-one with Ruby. I'd note that all the scarring on the latter's face and chest would indicate it's seen some action before, which makes it the first Grimm we've met whose design would suggest it actually has a backstory.
I thought Watts' comment about Cinder was implying that she can be sharped tongued, not that she necessarily talks a lot. I could definitely see her making a snarky or mocking retort to his comments under normal circumstances.
Edit: As for why he'd resent her, maybe because she's younger, maybe because she's given such an important role while presumably being a new(er) comer, maybe because Salem "favors" her. There's a lot that could be going on there really.

Regarding farm boy being Ozpin 2.0, the theory would be that Ozpin has some sort of Body Surf thing going on. Farmboy is just his most recent host after the previous Ozpin died.
As far as theorizing about why the maidens are vulnerable to Ruby's power, I favor the theory that not just Cinder but the season maidens in general are all part Grimm, at least insofar as their power was stolen from Salem. During that bit in beginning of the end where Cinder is talking to Salem, stealing the maiden powers is apparently framed as "taking back what's ours", and I wouldn't be surprised if that turns out to be the Awful Truth behind the power that Ozpin felt compelled to apologize to Pyrrha over.
@Ambar: As far as team evil criticizing each other, I got the impression at least that Salem was supposed to come of as Affably Evil, and surprisingly tolerant of criticism/pointless banter from her subordinates for an Evil Overlord. Time will tell if it's an act or genuine.

Would it though?
It's really not at all clear what Salem actually is. Is she some corrupted human? The sole survivor of a race of precursors wiped out by Ozpin in ancient times? Something else entirely?
There's no reason any power stolen from her (or her people if we go with theory 2) would necessarily feel evil.

Also is just me or the whole episode have a very nice RPG vibe to it? the geist fight look like introductory fight and the village look very RPG, even more with Jaune showing his new bling
