Hazel is secretly a rabbit faunus and has a cute little bunny tail which he hides under his clothes
Edit: and of course this had to top the page. Of course it had to.

"If I was a tabletop RPG character, my player would be accused of both minmaxing and overdramatic roleplaying." -MeHazel's name makes me think of Hansel and Gretel.
Hazel has a sister who has a name similar to Gretel. And neither of them are that much better than a certain Hansel and Gretel.
Similar like Griddle?
Similar like Brittle?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Speaking of Salem's crew:
I'm annoyed that:
- A: RT took both Tyrian and Hazel (though for the latter it was one of my OCs surnames, not given name).
- B: Only Hazel has his color on his clothing palette. Tyrian and Doc Watts both lack anything purple or yellow/blue on them.
Also speaking on the Tyrian Purple thing: Tyrian purple
is a lot more red than most people would think when they see purple.
Speaking of RWBY conventions:
Is the "teams are based on things" trend a requirement or? 'cause I came up with an OC team that worked together perfectly name-wisenote but their themes are all over the place.
Also side note: If anyone wants to help me with the other team I was working on, theme is "creatures". Already got a Raiju and shoggothnote , need to come up with two more. I'll be posting in the RWBY Fanfiction thread asking for assistance, any ideas can go there.
in a literary medium, I don't think visual/aesthetic themes matter as much. If you mean "themed after things," Team CRME is the only team that actually represents a theme - criminals.
Thinking about JNPR not having an actual theme made me realize just how shite Pyrrha's life was.
- She had a broken power that got her lots of fame and presumably money. But she didn't have any friends apparently.
- Her parents either sold her out to TV commercials, or didn't notice how isolated she was.
- Any friends she had she never saw again by going to Beacon.
- She came to her new school and crushed on a boy who blindly, stupidly ignored her attentions.
- A rich girl came up to her expecting to use her as an academic advantage.
- She likely spent several nights eating syrupless pancakes thanks to Nora. I don't know if any of you have eaten dry pancakes before but it is torture.
- She finally got the boy she liked to notice her and maybe spent half a semester dating.
- Before the dean came up to her and said, "No pressure, but we need your participation in an invasive operation that could wipe out your entire personality if not outright kill you, and if you don't agree to it, we may lose our only deterrent against nameless forces we are not at liberty to talk to you about."
- She agrees, but the whole thing turns out to be a bust anyway.
- She attacks her boyfriend - although this never gets brought back up - and then rips a girl apart in front of a wide audience.
- Her entire school is in flames.
- Ozpin dies.
- Pyrrha goes to face his killer and dies too.
She's voiced by Agent Carolina's VA. Carolina was characterized by Can't Catch Up in Red Vs Blue, against someone, Agent Texas, whose major character flaw was that she was designed to fail at everything she set out to do, died, and came back several times. So, interesting switcheroo. And funny because Texas dies but Carolina lives on and gets better.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!They don't have a theme because of all the things in that list?

Ohhhhh that. I was thinking "CRME/RWBY/SSSN" as "the names themselves being themed after things."
No, I misunderstood. The list was just rambling.
JNPR = genderswaps. RWBY = fairy tales. But those are the only two I know. SSSN = hipsters and surfer dudes? Team FNKI kind of had a musical theme, and they were both internet memes.
It's probably not necessary but in general theming your characters or giving them some homogeny/structure helps them stand out as a group rather than a wacky group of misfits.

They're actually more gender-flipped mythological people aside from Jaune (though Joan of Arc has certainly become a legend and myth in her own right). The real theme is probably that all of their inspirations had at least one occasion of cross-dressing (Achilles was hidden by his mother as a lady-in-waiting, Thor pretended to be a woman for part of an arranged marriage deal until he could ambush them and get his hammer back, Joan of Arc was forced to men's clothing after her dress was stolen while she was imprisoned, and Mulan...well, that's like most of her story, so you know that).

Flynt was a "Rooster Teeth" meme. Flynt Coal was a character they came up with while they were BS'ing. I thought he was an homage to Epic Sax Guy too.
Neptune and Scarlet have designs based on T.O.P and G-Dragon from Big Bang.
If we're going by an actual theme: It's literature.
Sun Wukong is, obviously, based on the character of the same name from Journey to the West.
According to Monty, Scarlet is an homage to Peter Pan in Scarlet, with such things as his pose when 'flying', the pirate theme, and the hook on the pistol, as well as the more obvious (his name, with Scarlet being from the titular book, whereas David was the name of Peter Pan's author J. M. Barrie's real life brother).
Neptune Vasilias was based off Neptune, the Roman god of the sea, as well as the aforementioned design base of T.O.P.
Though it is unknown which specific character was the inspiration for Sage Ayana, it is known that the character was from one of Aesop's Fables.
Aesthetically, yeah. In every other way I don't think so, but I thought it was confirmed that their looks were inspired by kpop artists.
The internet is a waste of time, and that's exactly what's right about it-William GibsonI don't really listen to K-Pop so... I'll assume that's true, but I wouldn't have guessed. Literature makes more sense, although that's kind of bland given that fairy tales and the heroes JNPR is based on are both from ancient and classic literature.

T.O.P. in the outfit that inspired Neptune's design
◊.
And do you say SSSN's theme is bland because RWBY and JNPR also have a similar base for their theme (literature/mythology)?
It isn't what happened...
He got the "wake up call kiss"...

Hazel is also the name of the rabbit main character in Watership Down, and considering he's the one dealing with the White Fang that might be a hint that he's a Faunus.
I've also heard speculation that Tyrian might be based off Jack the Ripper.

Does anyone actually read these?
