And who's direction Nora was following again? Jaunes.Honestly it wasnt like the opposing team wasn't down for the count anyway.Funny enough before that point he did acted similar to how he did in the deathstaker fight.Arguably he showed more tactical prowess in the tournament than he did the deathstaker fight.
Again I agree that he needs more feats.Though I do think people need to keep in mind that Tram JNPR didn't get to see much action.
Of course Ruby didn't fail as Janue did.She didn't do anything terms of actual leadership. Wesis lead the team to victory.
As for Sun .Come on man.You can't look at that match and tell me with a straight face that he came out of it looking like a better leader than Jaune did. Qrow called that fight a mess for a reason.
Yes you do have a point that ruby has more respectability than Jaune But Sun however hasnt.Aleast not in terns of contributions
Only sort of.
They won the battle because of Nora's Semblance which Jaune only finds out about when Professors Port and Oobleck explain it to the crowd. Then he came up with having Nora absorb more electricity on-the-spot which isn't so much a plan as it is a really obvious idea after she just showed off how powerful she is when absorbing electricity.
And then he confused his team by throwing out team attack names that nobody understood, resulting in taking a timeout from the fight so he could try to explain them. And when he finally realizes how f*cking stupid this is, he just tells Nora to get 'em.
Ultimately, Nora won the round for the team despite Jaune's contributions, not because of them. The episode establishes that
- Jaune doesn't know his team's Semblances.
- Jaune hasn't properly taught his team the combo moves he wants them to use.
- Jaune doesn't know his team well enough to realize they don't know the moves.
In short, the one thing Jaune is established to be really good at early on is tactical leadership. Rather than build on that, the tournament takes the "LOL Jaune fails at everything!" to the extreme of making him a shitty leader too.
It was Winter who called it a mess and the point of that scene was to establish that Winter is an unpleasable bitch who's highly critical of Weiss.
And yes, I can, because Ruby and Sun can actually hold their own in a fight, and that's leagues ahead of Jaune in and of itself. The one thing Jaune has over them is his leadership, and the closest he came in his tournament match was comedically failing at leading his team in exactly the same way that Ruby successfully pulled off in season two.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.![]()
Doesn't Plot Armor involve impossibly surviving some lesser plot thing to get to some other important plot thing...(question mark)

Issues though:
- 1: Semblances don't seem to be exactly common knowledge. Apparently Pyrrha's Semblance is this super-big secret for her. I mean, Pyrrha did explain her Semblance to Ruby, but that was only with Weiss nearby, and while they were separated from everyone else.
- 2: We never see him working on them with his team. They could have very easily worked on them, but Jaune came up with the names and forgot to tell his team (which, knowing Jaune's forgetfulness, seems likely)
- 3: See 2.
Also: Jaune's been shown that he can fight. In the Volume 2 finale he 1v1'd the giant-ass Ursa Major by himself (his form was whacked out, but still).

The team they opposed certainly learned it at that moment, but there's nothing to say Jaune only learned about it when the commentators mentioned it. He may or may not have known.
Also, the comedy argument they have indicates that they have actually trained in combat strategies and paired moves, it's just Jaune's naming of them that caused confusion.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. It's not at all unreasonable to assume, or even expect, that teammates would explain their Semblances to one another, especially in a tournament setting. Though, that's less on Jaune, and more writers doing it for suspense at the expense of logic, which is often the case with superpowers.

But yeah. Jaune not knowing Nora's semblance is on the writers doing it for suspense, not really on him.
Given the conversation that happened over the team attacks, it sounds like Jaune did teach them or tried to, they just forgot or weren't paying attention.
Now if that's on Jaune for not checking to make sure they were paying attention the first time or the others for having short attention spans depends on the viewer.
It'd be on both the leader and the lackeys for a mistake like that...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Jaune hadn't learned his Semblance in Volume 2. Pyrrha had been trying to coax it out of him which meant she hadn't recognised anything from him that she would call a Semblance either.
By that point, the writers had told us we'd already seen Jaune's Semblance, which I think is why most people assume that what happened with Cardin over the Ursa fight was the moment we saw Jaune's Semblance. He seemed to take his injuries and transform that into a force attack or force shield- if so, that might explain why Pyrrha hasn't been able to tease it out of him during training. She wouldn't have been trying to harm him the way he'd get injured in a real fight and if he needs to be injured to make the most of his Semblance, training wouldn't do it for him - real combat would be needed. That, or Training from Hell.
We don't know for certain that Jaune didn't know what Nora's Semblance was. It's not like she rushed up the mountainside either until Jaune ordered her to go up there, and she definitely knew what her Semblance was. The delay was definitely because of suspense, but it makes it difficult to know what Jaune did and didn't know as a result.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.'Jaune doesn't know his team's Semblances.'
Now that's debateable. There is noting in that ep that suggested he didn't know Nora semblance
'Jaune hasn't properly taught his team the combo moves he wants them to use.'
True. Though this serves to show us the difference between Jaune and Ruby's leadership styles.Jaunes more of a instinctive leade while Ruby uses pre planed attackes
:Jaune doesn't know his team well enough to realize they don't know the moves.'
This is false. He clearly knows his team..(taking advantage of Rens speed to distract the Sniper, getting Nora to a high advange point to have her function as artillery, his little move with Pyyrha all show this)
'And yes, I can, because Ruby and Sun can actually hold their own in a fight, and that's leagues ahead of Jaune in and of itself. The one thing Jaune has over them is his leadership, and the closest he came in his tournament match was comedically failing at leading his team in exactly the same way that Ruby successfully pulled off in season two.'
See my problem with this is that you're using one moment to judge his performance. Ignoring not only the rest of the match but almost ignoring the problems the two others leaders faced.
He clearly is at the point where he can hold his own.He isn't wining any matches but his also at a point where he isn't a burden on his team.Which is really all he needs to be at that point

Oh, okay. Lemme try.
Blake's fighting skills!
Jaune's self esteem!
Ozpin's chances of surviving three more seasons!
Sun's chances of not getting shat on by the Bumblebee fandom no matter what he does other than die!
Also, Adam being Edgy Mc Edgyface.
Yang's arm getting cut.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.![]()

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I've mentioned this before, but JNPR's 4v4 fight in the tournament was overall extremely contrived and full of Idiot Ball. I couldn't find it funny because it was so stupid.

Preaching to the choir. I was responding to a post that was talking about Jaune's personal feeling of being useless. I view what Jaune feels and what I feel as two different things.
Seriously, we had an argument that raged for several pages over this exact thing. One person called me a troll. Me. Everyone knows me!
Oh, I did watch that. That's why I said 'not so much here' instead of 'never here'.
