[up]Is a problem I have because I focus to much in speaking english(which I do quite well, I dont even have acent) but I didnt focus that much in writing since I asumed I could talk my way on everything.

Yeah, that didnt turn well >_>

Anyway, returing to a point I said earlier, I think Yang,Weiss and Blake make the scarecrow, tin man and coward lion, making Ruby Dorothy

Yang: aside of her being blond is reckless, impulsive and agresive, right where the bad guy tricking her was part of the plan, in short she should THINK before she acts

Weiss: apart of the conection with Atlas(a country that favor machine over men) she dosent do what her heart desire, her sister Winter while being a hard ass actually did what she wants

Blake: well aside from being a cat(because Lion are cat too? haha) she run away from her fears and is a loner because of that, I think she facing Adam with Yang would help her, understading so problem cant be facing alone but as team

The only other named White Fang member with a name that I can think of is that one guy who wore glasses over his mask, Perry. As unlikely as it is, I wonder if he made it off the train.

Speaking of the Oz connections, we're taking my BFF's little sister through the show and we've finished season two. I managed to crack them both up in "Mountain Glenn" when Ironwood and Glynda were discussing OzpinHey!  with "Maybe you're right, but I don't know. I might be able to trust Ozpin...if I only had a heart, doo doo doodoodoo doodoo!"

@Teams:

Otherwise Wiess and Blake wouldn't have given Ruby and Yang the time of day to form a lasting friendship. Heck, Yang was originally going to ditch Ruby at the first opportunity.

Left to their own devices, Ruby probably would have BFF'd with Nora and maybe Jaune. Weiss would have continued to hover around Pyrrha like an obsessive fly. Blake would forever be in the background reading a book. Yang would have disappeared into Off Screen RWBY with her silhouette friends from the beginning of the series.

[up][up][up]With Blake at least, the seeds of friendship had already been in place before the test to decide teams even started. With Weiss, the same thing could have just as easily been accomplished by randomly assigning them all as roommate and a close encounter with a grimm.

I'm not saying the "Team RWBY" angle really detracts from anything, but it's never felt like it was really necessary to me either.

Someone on the RWBY Discussion Page wants to trope Shane's letter.

If anyone wants to give input, the discussion is here.

I'd suggest allowing the mentioning the story changes and whether or not they were for the best only, without going into his personal attacks, issues with RT's behind the scenes and his unhealthy obsession with Monty and Sheena.

Any story changes should probably just be relegated to What Could Have Been over on the Trivia page. That's about it.

[up][up]It's hard to actually do that on the basis of Shane's letter. Given that the entire process of crafting a story from original idea to published product includes a quite natural shift in what you end up doing compared to what you originally thought of doing, it's really hard to know for certain how much of Shane's letter was effectively brainstorming and how much would have genuinely ended up in the show even if Monty had still been alive.

Even Monty mentioned in interviews about how he would change and develop his own ideas, sometimes while actually animating them. Take Ozpin's appearance - he was supposed to have a wizard's cloak until Monty realised what a pig that would be to animate and scrapped it. Also, Melanie and Miltia are closer to the original versions of Weiss and Ruby than the Ruby and Weiss we're familiar with actually are.

Yes, we could see a potential What Could Have Been in some of what Shane said, but we wouldn't have much to write; it would effectively have to be written as "Some ideas that had been discussed included..." and that's very little context for a decent example, especially when it's based on a letter written by someone who isn't conveying an understanding of how storytelling evolves from idea to final product (whether because he has limited knowledge or was simply upset and writing from the heart so didn't convey it well is a debate I don't intend to have).

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.

To be fair Shane did said what it would happen:

-Raven would atack JNRP to "foreshow things to come"

-Yang would have a prolonge fight with Adam and Blake would join

-Mercury vs Yang was supose to happen in close envorioment

-Jaune was supose to help Phyrra to fight Cinder...and he was going t kill by accident(good thing this do not happen, Tobias would mark Jaune forever for this one)

So there, is good trivia a best

Aren't those just Monty's ideas that were ultimately decided against even before he died? Some of them, at least.

O.O Oh, I would want his head on a platter for that. Jaune has not built up nearly enough goodwill as a character who regularly pulls his weight and positively contributes for something like that. Accidentally killing Pyrrha would basically condemn him to the Scrappy heap forever.

I mean, I can see where they're coming from with that. It would be a POWERFUL moment of drama. But it's only a good idea if you're supposed to hate Jaune, and I'm reasonably sure he's meant to be sympathetic.

[up][up] Just not sure what does Shane's Letter have to do with that, but yes, it certainly would.

Granted, some of these ideas don't sound too bad, but some are just... not... very good. Case in point, the whole charlie foxtrot regarding Jaune accidentally killing Pyrrha.

I'm not familiar with Shane's Letter. Are these ideas that Monty had but the team didn't implement, or ideas they wanted to implement instead of Monty's, or what?

All I really know about the behind-the-scenes is that Monty Oum died and it sucks but he left some outlines and stuff for how to continue the series.

[up][up][up]I think they went away from that because that is clearly a case of Stuffed into the Fridge

[up][up]Shane's letter revealed a lot of things that were changed.

[up]Basically, it was like a seventeen-page combination of rant and rage at Rooster Teeth for "desecrating Monty's legacy" by not making RWBY exactly as Monty originally planned. Which would have had Raven attacking JNPR for no reason and Jaune causing an accident that would lead to Pyrrha's death in the Cinder fight.

Which, to be honest, these ideas would have sucked''.

Oh, he was also pissy that RT apparently changed Winter from what she was originally was (basically an Ink-Suit Actor of Sheena and played by Sheena). After Monty's death, according to Shane, RT basically distanced themselves from everything related to Monty aside from RWBY, including ostracizing Sheena.

I'd find Jaune accidentally kill Pyhrra darkly hilarious, but, yeah probably a bad move for the character.

They're ideas that Monty wanted to implement that the team at Rooster Teeth changed up. Shane is a blind fanatic who thinks Rooster Teeth refused to listen to Monty, when Monty wasn't even that good of a writer and had to change his ideas all the time just to make them work (and even then the ideas he sneaked in without telling anyone were moments that only served to look cool and hinder the plot).

[up]That too.

Though you have to admit, the last minute Penny thing did give a nice lead in for Volumes II and III and likely later

They should've held back on it. That's one of the important rules of writing, you don't blow everything you wanna do in one sitting because it'll look cool, you have to restrain yourself and space it out.

I had an impression that at least some of Monty's ideas were already known before Shane's Letter. Huh, the more I know.

So. On a scale of 1 to Nora, how excited are you for Volume 4? It's, what, 30-few days left to the premiere.
