So I got caught up on RWBY Chibi. I loved Butler of Cakes and Nora's Workout. Or just anything with Nora, really.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!So I saw 4-5 pages of discussion spring up out of nowhere, thought maybe a new Chibi or episode was out, spent the time to catch up, and it's all Pokemon.
Not a complaint. I've been there. Discussions go in crazy directions sometimes while waiting for an update. Just funny 's all.

That is a formula...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. So I have finally gotten the rest of my (well, most of) my family into watching RWBY. My parents have seen all of Volume 1 and are going to watch Volume 2 today and they love it so far. My sis has watched all but the last 20-ish minutes of Volume 1 (they're watching it on Netflix) and also loves it.
I can't wait for them to get to Volume 3 so I can hear their lamentations. Then I'll be nice and show them RWBY Chibi.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! We've talked before about how the anti-Faunus prejudice is kinda an Informed Attribute about the society and we rarely actually get to see legitimate racism from anyone but outright villains. Like, they've never walked into a store and been told that Blake has to leave because "We don't serve their kind" or something. Blake, Sun, and Velvet mostly get by like anyone else.
I mean, there was that incident with Cardin pulling Velvet's ears but that was because Cardin's a stock bully character, and we see him bullying Jaune too.
In any case, the reason I bring this up is because I just noticed a hilarious bit of racism in the most unlikely place: Ruby's theme. The only actual lyrics to it are really about the team as a whole.
- Red like roses fills my dreams and brings me to the place you rest.
- White is cold and always yearning, burdened by a royal test.
- Black the beast descends from shadows
- Yellow beauty burns ... gold.
"Black the beast"? Really, Ruby? That's mean!
I don't think that sort of stuff would be legal. It seems like they're going for stock American/Western racism, where, officially, no discrimination is allowed, but a lot of people still see them as "animals".
I also get the feeling it's worse where Blake is from, she said she was raised outside of the Kingdoms. Harsher circumstances breed worse resentments and people looking for an easy outlet.
Sure, but the issue is that they aren't treated like animals. If there's no systemic oppression in place and the only people who look down on them are the assholes that look down on everybody, where's the problem? Right now, the Faunus cause is all smoke, no fire. The closest to legitimate racial tension we've ever seen between Faunus and humans, White Fang excepted, is Weiss flipping out on The Reveal. And that was because of a disagreement in perspective on the White Fang specifically; she's totally cool with Blake being Faunus.
And when you include the White Fang, well...they're the aggressors every time they come up. It's always "White Fang terrorists attack and murder folks" and never "White Fang defends Faunus from attacks by evil human oppressors." Their sympathetic origin is that they started as a civil rights movement for an oppressed people but we never see any evidence of racial tension that wasn't started by them.
My wishlist for season four is that we get to see some legitimate anti-Faunus prejudice, because I'm kinda starting to worry that this subplot is trying to apply The Complainer Is Always Wrong to civil rights movements.

Are you sure that lyric isn't about the Grimm? Thas not racist if it is...is just a statement about them.
And honestly: I have a feeling that the reason we haven't seen much Faunus discrimination/racism/prejudice is that Vale is probably very "liberal" in the sense of being accepting (ie: People in Vale hear about Faunus discrimination and go "Wait, that's still a thing?"); whereas I feel that Atlas would be like the Deep South during the Civil Rights Movement.
That would be completely out of place, given that Red, White, and Yellow are clearly referencing Ruby, Weiss, and Yang.
Fair, but we've never seen it happen to Sun or Velvet either.
