Even off the job, I'd still expect him to be a self-centered, amoral swindler. As previously noted, you don't leave your character flaws at the door when you clock out. So, like, if we went out drinking, I'd expect him to slip out when I wasn't looking and to suddenly discover that he's been telling the bartender to put his drinks on my tab. And then when I confronted him about it the next day, he'd try to convince me to be cool about it, he was just having some fun, it's no big deal. And goddammit, he'd succeed because he's so f*cking charming.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.A good hatable chararter is Mercury, the guy have a sympatic backstory, him rising out and killing his abuser father, but so far people enjoy being because how much of a dick he is, is rutheless sportmind actitud with Yang and him being annoying to Emerald.
In short his motivaton is "I here to take bitches and kicking idiot, and I dont see any bitch here" he is the douchelord, and people just like him for it.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"![]()
Oh yeah, totally. He'd be The Friend Nobody Likes for sure, but goddamn: He'd be helpful with certain stuff

Hey. We don't joke about Mercury. Blake, Torchwick, and Pyrrha are the acceptable targets. Mercury is just plain BAMF
in pretty much
every scene he's in
. And pretty much one of two male Kick Chick's in existence. The only other one I've seen was from Xin Session.
He might be an evil douche, but he's a cool evil douche whose resume includes disarming Pyrrha and nearly killing the Avatar. Twice.

Well there is Eddy Gordo from Tekken, and that one Capoeria martial arts film (the name of which escapes me) from the 90's. Still, it's a pretty rare fighting style far as I've seen. I mean how many male characters... how many characters in fiction have we ever seen use capoeria?

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!A this point I think we need a diferent trope for brutal style since combat pragmatist dosent quite cut.
But yeah, Roman is the chararter who will sweet talk to you and damn said he have a great buissness plan that will make you rich, before you know it you are pilot a mech and fighting against hunter asking how the fuck you end there.
Mercury just come, he will kick you in estomach, still a candy for a child and walk away...and look good
Err it's not so much that Capoeira is brutal because of the Combat Pragmatist nature of the martial art, but that quite a few of the Combat Pragmatist actions in Capoeira are brutal as hell. Examples:
- Combat Pragmatist: Capoeiristas outside the roda or other sanctioned fights can easily become this with techniques like telefone ("telephone"), in which you clap your hands on either of the opponent's ears to disorient them and potentially permanently ruin their hearing, or arpão de cabeça ("head spear"), in which you throw your whole body into a headbutt aimed at the enemy's head, chest, or groin. When in the roda never accept if the other person offers you a "blessing". Just to elaborate, the Blessing (or, in Portuguese, "benção") is an unbalancing pushing kick that is one of the most basic (and effective) moves in capoeira.
- Deadly Graduation: Downplayed (but not very much). During the Regional graduation ceremonies, newly graduated students were awarded with a medal pinned on their shirt and were obligued to play a tira-medalha, a roda in which they fought more experimented players who would try to rip off their medals. In this game everything would be allowed, from hand strikes to throws, and if the veterans managed to rip off your medal, you would be degraded and returned to rookie state, which is considered something shameful.
- Trying To Catch Me Fighting Dirty: Traditionalist masters not only allow, but even endorse breaking the rules a bit when playing, which comes from the value of malicia.
... yeah.

Not with that Dance Battler style it's not.
Mercury's style might take some cues from Tae Kwon Do, but his form is much more based on Capoeira.

In-universe why would RWBY have fighting styles that draw any inspiration from our real-life ones when they only people fighting are going to be superhumans? You'd expect most moves wouldn't work with both combatants are fully capable of launching each other 50 feet through the air.
Follow my Tumblr." if the veterans managed to rip off your medal, you would be degraded and returned to rookie state, which is considered something shameful."
suddenly I have the imagine of marcus, doing that to mercury, just instead of his medal ARE HIS LEGS!
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"October 23rd for RT Subscribers, 24th for non-subscribers.
If you're asking in-series: Volume 4 takes place after a 6 to 8 month Time Skip
Wouldn't you rather enjoy seeing both on-screen...at the same time...with good back n' forth banter?
That's the quality of something great.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I can see it happening with Emerald, given her reaction to what they did to Beacon.

Because you keep saying that you don't think of Adam's behaviour as abusive. It is. There's no avoiding that.
