The only difference is that Yang's arm was useful.

Just had to say I love you for typing this. This is going in the album.

This whole post is like Roman, quite hard to disgest

You, however, sicken me and have earned my eternal spite!

Torchwicknotdead!2017!

However those people seem to be pacified by Chibi, apparantly satisfied so long as they get jokes and cuteness somewhere.

Chibi Blake has filled a hole in my heart I didn't know was there. She's like the Frank Lapidus of RWBY Chibi, just making everything better.

[up][up]Why does people want King Schnee's name to start with the letter "W" again? Is there some sort of symbology going on with that?

Well, at some point a Willow has to turn up, although we don't know if that's going to be Dad.

He could be Wren Schnee. in European folklore the wren is the king of the birds (achieved by cheating, although the story passes it off as 'being clever'), and in some of the germanic languages, the 'wren' used to known as the 'winter king'.

Also in European folklore, the Winter King had a reputation for being evil, but when the heroes make it to the fortress to end winter, they discover that the Winter King is a victim of the true villain - depending on the story, the true villain is either the Winter King's wife or daughter.

I'm very wary about jumping to conclusions about Papa Schnee given that everything we know is from Weiss's perspective, and I haven't seen anything from Winter that suggests Winter hates him. On the contrary, her amused comment to Weiss that perhaps Weiss could just call and find out what Dad wants suggested to me that she may have thought that what Papa Schnee wanted isn't necessarily what Weiss was assuming.

He could turn out to be every bit as bad as he's been implied to be, but I've read too many stories where a parent has been built up by the child's perception only for it to be later revealed that the child has a very biased view of the parent that isn't entirely true (and sometimes isn't remotely true).

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.

From the last page, yeah, this whole "Faunus discrimination" is totallly an Informed Attribute in this series.

Why is that a bad thing? Well, to start with, it made me impossible to sympathize with Blake during the last arc of Season 1.

And it's definitely not just that Vale is Faunus friendly, because it's not. Blake feels no safer exposing her ears there and they got a full house at a White Fang recruitment.

I wouldn't say that's a joke, but iirc, there's a fanon-thing regarding Faunus having heat cycles (despite that not making any sense)

BlackSunNocturne Since: Aug, 2013

The short version: A lot of people think Faunus have heat cycles, and they're often used in fics to justify having Blake jump someone.

Speaking of pregnancies, I'd imagine there's at least few teen pregnancies per year due to co-ed teams living in same room.

And hey, there's gotta be several incidences of Glad-to-Be-Alive Sex.

I think the logic behind the way the co-ed dorms are set up is supposed to be that a couple's not going to be doing it when they share the space with two other people, and thus wouldn't want to risk being caught with their pants down (literally) by their roomies. Though that can still backfire because of things.

The pragmatic reason is probably that the writers/animators/whoever didn't want to split RWBY's members into two rooms for reasons related to cinematography (or somesuch), not caring about the resulting Fridge Logic caused by having all of JNPR's members share a single room despite them having both male and female members.

And it's definitely not just that Vale is Faunus friendly, because it's not. Blake feels no safer exposing her ears there and they got a full house at a White Fang recruitment.

And yet Sun doesn't seem to have a problem, and he highlights the fact that he's a faunus plenty of times.

I wonder if maybe it's a socio-economic thing. All our characters are essentially students at an elite live-in college, and are further put into specific groups with their peers, which puts them in the same social circles by default. But prior to that we have what appear to be middle class Ruby and Yang, obviously upper class Weiss, and all indications point to Blake being poor.

Blake, Sun, and Velvet are all faunus, but they are also Huntsmen among Huntsmen, and that social position brings them more acceptance among any peers who might have had certain prejudices. Case in point, Weiss overcame her disdain for faunus because she was knew Blake as Blake, her fellow Huntress and teammate as opposed to Blake, some faunus she passed on the street. This might indicate there is some lingering prejudice among the social circles our characters run in, but they see our faunus main characters as "some of the good ones." It's like some Ivy League kids might dismiss most Black people as inner city punks, but will at the same time say Carlton from the Fresh Prince is the person they love and most identify with. That's just speculation on my part though.

If though, faunus are predominately poor, then that feeds into a lot of negative stereotypes. And going by what we know of the Schnee Corp. they do employ and exploit a predominately low class faunus workforce. We haven't seen these people or their conditions so again, this is speculation based on what Blake has related to us, but if this is the case then it's easy to see why these people would be so eager to join the White Fang while our student faunus write them off. It's the difference between those stuck at the bottom of the social rung and are acting out against their inability to rise up, while others who have made it to the top of the ladder enjoy the privileges of being treated like regular people most of the time.

That is one of the reasons why I thought that this series should have given more focus on the world outside of Beacon, on ordinary parts of the world and people. Another one is that because the show only focused on Hunters, the fact that Grimm is a threat to humanity used to really felt like an Informed Attribute. Thankfully Season 3 went ahead and finally made the Grimms really feel like threats.
