It's in the Anime section?

I get it, because it's an Anime...without all the flashbacks.

Or gratuitous attack technique callings.

My GOD, I'm so grateful for that.

I figured that be because there's no actual techniques to name.

It'd be just...Scythe Swing, Combo Scythe Swing, Scythe Gun...

They did...have Rwby calling out attack strategy names at one point, I guess that's not really the same.

I was about to ask where exactly Patch is.

Reaching Vale is probably easy enough, but traveling through the mainland infested with Grimm and then crossing ocean, then traveling to Mistral or some big city available could take that long.

@Droy: Stuff like that ain't bad because it has routes in the Japanese kendo chant of Men Do Kote.

RWBY isn't Japanese made, so of course it wouldn't have it.

Also they don't really have signature techniques except for Adam's moon slash. Most of the fights are fairly fluid and unique.

You say that like Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Cowboy Bebop don't exist. >:(

Sturgeon's Law on anime fights, though am I rather glad RWBY doesn't do typical anime things like sweat drops, nosebleeds, multiple opening songs, tournament arcs...

...well, no nosebleeds or Accidental Pervert moments. Closest we came to that was Sun spying on Team RWBY.

We also haven't had a Beach Episode yet.

If we do get one, I'd prefer if they had more male fanservice then female. Besides Free(and I could be wrong on that cause I never watched that show), Ouran, and FMA(and even then, those last two are a stretch), you don't really see that many animes that have fanservice objectifying men. Which sucks cause I wanna see some of that instead another "guy falls on a girl's breasts" scene or "guy walks in on girl in her underwear" scene or something.

I'd love to see the Beach Episode of RWBY have like a Top Gun volleyball scene going on with the guys. Taiyang and Qrow vs Ren and Jaune. Now that's some fanservice that I'd like to see. cool

I like how RWBY has all the fun stuff of an anime, but not the weird creepy bits like pervy nosebleeds and preteen girls in scarily short skirts.

Unless it's Chibi I don't think we're getting a Beach episode.

They'd have done that when the show was still in fun jokey mode.

I have watched Jo Jo. Dunno why i wasn't thinking about it being male fanservice.

Then again, I tend not to think Shonen stuff is all that fanservicey when it's focusing on guys. With girls, I can tell when the creator wants the audience to be aroused by the character. But with guys, I more get the idea that they're aiming for fanservice if they make the characters have a very obvious Ho Yay scene. And even then, it's usually done in a Played for Laughs manor.

[up]Chibi would obviously do a Beach Episode as a parody(Like having everyone buy Jaune in either their normal outfits or casual wear that isn't fanservicey while Jaune's in a speedo.). I could see the main show doing a Beach Episode as a Breather Episode, however.

Since this is Rooster Teeth, I don't think they've completely ditched fun jokey mode. There's a plot going on sure, but Red vs Blue underwent Cerebus Syndrome in its 7th-8th seasons, and it's still mostly known for its humor.

Though a beach episode in Chibi does seem likely.

I'm sure RWBY will get lighter eventually, but the next few volumes will probably be super cereal with very little lighthearted stuff.

Chibi doing a Beach Episode, like I said, sounds like it could be done in a way that'd poke fun at those kinda episodes. Probably because it's hard to make the chibi characters look fanservicey. It does seem like they could that kinda episode, tho.

And for that we are eternal grateful.

We don't know exactly how far it is from Vale to Mistral, or the traveling conditions, but just to have some sort measurent of how long a trip can take; the Oregon Trail from Missouri to the West Coast could take as long as four months.

Well we don't know exactly what they have done in that six to eight month period. They could have already reached their destination and immediately found it to be a dead end and are now just traveling around on the hope of stumbling upon the right clues they need to point them to their next destination.

While I'm sure the humor will never go away, the scenes of them hanging out and just being normal girls, outside of Chibi, probably are over. Rv B might still be mostly humorous, but as far as I'm aware (cause I haven't watched much Rv B after the first few seasons) once they left Blood Gultch and the comical setting of the pointless canyon scuffle, they never went back.

They can afford to not be funny all the time...they're telling a story Anime style.

Less jokes means more writing...um?

That is a good question.

Jokes were pretty much what carried 1 and 2. 3 was able to get by on sudden shocking twists and turns but that's gonna peter out in 4.

So I wonder what they will use as the bulk of their writing.

Humor isn't a bad thing in a serious story, and seriousness isn't a bad thing in a lighthearted story. It is a matter of when it is appropriate.
