I think that it's fair to assume that along the increased toughness (which is almost total for as long as Aura lasts), there would be some other physical improvements. Team RWBY can all at least jump good, for instance. Then again, it might just be setting physics, unless we ever see someone get noticeably weaker after aura break.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It's channelling Aura into something that's a 'part' of you (so to speak). My theory is that Huntsmen create their own weapons because they're effectively building in their Aura to their weapons as they make them. Ruby basically said that weapons are effectively an extension of the person, as if understanding the weapon would offer some kind of insight into the true nature of the person by proxy.
In that sense, the weapon is an extension of the Aura, so when Pyrrha's shield or javelin flies from her hand, it's still part of her Aura.
For another example, I can't help thinking that the shield we saw around Ozpin was just his Aura, expanded from his body in a literal version of how Jaune initially imagined Aura (which was as a forcefield).
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. They're right with Pyrrha's emblem, that was deliberate and her death scene was mostly planned from the start.
Roman has to be coincidence though, he wasn't even supposed to appear past the first few episodes, let alone get eaten. That was something that was supposedly only decided on while they were working on Vol 3.

Nothing wrong with male characters called Willow.
That was one of my favourite films when I was a child.
