Ruby said that Cinder used glass, but she didn't think the glass was Cinder's Semblance because her clothing lit up.
Glynda said that, with the exception of the glass, it sounded like the woman she fought in Episode 1 but Ironwood dismissed Glynda's connection on the grounds that weaving Dust into clothing is an age-old technique.
They didn't really conclude anything regarding Cinder's use of glass. We only know that Ruby thinks it's not her Semblance. Glynda's instinct was that it was the woman they were after, too, but Ironwood dismissed it (on rational grounds).

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. It's hard to figure out when the Maiden's were only created after all this between Vol 2 and 3.
Granted it's clearly something is unusually powerful about Cinder from episode 1 but now it's hard to tell. Stuff from Vol 1 and 2 might need to be disregarded due to them slightly reworking the story from Vol 3 on.
So I've been doing some fanfiction reading and I've noticed something:
Whenever Weiss' father is in a fic, he's either one of two things:
- A massive asshole and borderline villain
- A well-meaning father who's royally fucked up regarding raising his daughters
Like, I haven't been keeping up with the FNDM and the headcanons, but I swear, these two are ridiculously common headcanons it seems.
They can stretch in some other characteristics...fan-fic are free to free form until such knowledge is given proof in the pudding to public viewers.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I'm surprised there's any well meaning interpretations of him at all.
All we know is.
Both his daughter's hate him, and Weiss implies he was at minimum emotionally abusive and took his work frustrations out on her.
He fought Weiss and Winter's choices every step of the way of it wasn't exactly what he wanted, cut both of them off, and made Weiss fight a giant robo knight.
He's a ruthless businessman that drives smaller company's out of business and is creating a monopoly on dust.
He's a racist that abuses his faunus workers.
Thanks to him the Schnee family name carries extreme negativity in the world as a bunch of corrupt rich Faunus hating bastards.
The very instant something went wrong in the world status quo he forced his daughter to come with him against her wishes to protect his own interests, even though she's only month's away from being a legal adult and presumably wanted to stay with Ruby.
So yeah. There's literally nothing good about the man we've heard so far, and even bringing his daughter to safety doesn't look that nice when added to the other things we know about him.

I don't think we know any of that.
Ruby fought droves of Beowolves near her mother's grave, her dad wasn't even around. Yang walked into a bar and beat up most of the staff, and the bouncers, and the owner.
The statute of what's considered child abuse/neglect/criminal is a little different on Remnant.
That's downplaying "Schnee took his daughter home, away from her friends, in the wake of what was basically Remnant's 9/11", even if she was months away from being a legal adult, Papa Schnee's reaction is fairly justified.
He's a racist that abuses his faunus workers.
cut both of them off,

We know these, and even then, I think the implication that he's a bad parent is, like Adam, going to paint an overwhelmingly negative reputation about the character, before we actually know what's going on.
Everyone thought Weiss was some kind of holy, kind-hearted priestess when the White Trailer came out. Her Alpha Bitch personality caught everyone by surprise.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!It's My Turn is my favorite song in RWBY, actually. :3
Can't take the lyrics without a grain of salt.
If I took the lyrics of Sacrifice or Divide with absolute certainty, Cinder is a Complete Monster and I shouldn't think anything more of her, case closed, she's a heartless monster with no past. The lyrics of Red Like Roses imply Ruby is torn up on the inside over their lost mothers, the reality is quite different.
He might be a bastard, but not all of the points made about him are accurate. Overly controlling parents are an age-old archetype, not every controlling parent character is worthy of utter contempt.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Hadn't we have this discussion before, but with Winter? (who turned out to be pretty okay?)
I mean, it would feel lazy to have Papa Schnee be a Saturday Morning Cartoon villain if he can be so much more.
Perhaps the racism has some grounds (considering Black Trailer has Blake and Adam demolish his stuff for... what reason, exactly? Or maybe it has something to do with Mama Schnee). Like, making a racist character that ultimately means well or at least is on heroes' side is just better.
@Soble: Yes, we do know about him fighting his daughters every step of the way. Winter and Weiss both mention it, and the business thing: Flynt talks about it. Basically, if you're in Atlas and selling dust and not under the SDC, you're going out of business soon.
Also, there's a difference between not being there to protect you kid (Ruby) or stopping them from doing something stupid (Yang) is different than sicking a giant fucking monster, controlled by GRIMM on your daughter, which can easily kill her (Weiss).
Iirc, the manga is "confirmed to be canon, unless declared otherwise". So since the Knight hasn't been stated in the show to not be a construct filled with Grimm.... yeah.
Papa Schnee is an asshole.
Hell, Raven is a better parent than he is, and Raven left Yang

Can't watch the episode right now, but, "sicking a giant f'cking monster controlled by Grimm."
When was this?
And once again, Ruby slaughtered Beowolves on her way back from her mother's grave. Its a leap to call "sicking a monster" on your perfectly combat-trained children a horrible act in this world.
Ozpin launched students into a forest teeming with Grimm, and its still under question whether he knew that Jaune wasn't prepared. Matter of fact, since Jaune didn't have hsi Aura unlocked, that fall probably would have killed him if Pyrrha hadn't saved him.
And seriously, did the manga say that the giant robot knight was "Grimm controlled?" Grimm can pilot robots now? Should I be worried for Penny?
I dont' recall exactly what Weiss and Winter said, but I don't remember them saying or implying he "fought them every step of the way". Weiss comments about wanting bunk beds as a child, she visibly refrains from speaking to her father, and we know she doesn't think highly of his business ethics. Winter comments that he cut her off the same as Weiss, at some point. Judging from her style of dress, she's obviously not renouncing the Schnee name. Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't remember any scathing comment about Papa Schnee from either of them.
Flynt blames Weiss's family for running his father out of business. That's one example. Flynt's father's business does not represent the Schnee conglomerate running every business in Remnant out of business. Just because Walmart puts a mom and pop store out of business doesn't make the president of the company a total asshole. He/she might well be, but that single store isn't the reason.
We have Blake mentioning that the company mistreats Faunus, that's concrete.
Just like Faunus racism, Schnee superiority is pretty understated. The only example we've seen of the former is Cardin being a douche.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!People thought the same of Adam, and Adam was exactly as bad as people thought, if not worse. They haven't exactly been particularly complex or subversive with the antagonist characters. Which is fine. You can do more damage to a show trying to subvert or surprise the audience than to just roll with it.
In any case I highly doubt they spent 3 seasons with how Weiss hates her father and how corrupt the Schnee company looks in the eyes of the world only to have it just be a misunderstanding and he's actually a cool guy. Especially since they need Weiss to break away from it to be part of the A plot again, and having access to those resources would make things too easy for team RWBY.
I expect Vol 4's arc for Weiss is her turning 18 and breaking off with him and company for good, giving up on the idea of redeeming her family name in favor of helping people and helping her friends.

Basically, the manga implies that there are sort of like poltergeist-like Grimm and the Knight was created by basically shoving bunch of small Grimm into a giant suit of armour. And in Mister Schnee's own words "If [Weiss is] being insistent on her selfishness then I expect her to win". Yeah, he is willing to create a man-manipulated Grimm to teach her daughter a lesson. Just because she wants to be as far away from papa as possible.
The fact that some people even think that they can even control Grimm just sounds like the dumbest thing.
Only sometimes postsIt never was. Fan Wank assumes as such because the maiden plot was so out of nowhere.

Didnt glynda said glass as comon thing around and that is why they coudnt track her?
Also her bow, it look like made of ash which it fit well with the Cinderella theme
About Roman...yeah, he should die in season 2, dying because agrimm caught him monologing is stupid, even more when he defeat Ruby and show concern by Neo, now he have SOMETHING to actually expand
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"
