That's not why there's a lot of harem anime tho
The reason there was a lot of harem anime for a while is because it was a huge fad that caught on after To Love Ru saw success. There are a lot less harem anime nowadays, which have largely been replaced with idol anime as the latest fad.

Poe's Law is in full effect with folks like Chris Chan in the same way its in effect with stuff like My Immortal and so on.

Yeah, the genre gets boring really fast. You watch one and you already guess how the rest goes down. There are a few handful of shows that are distinctively different.
I guess Cinder would be one of those villains that the FNDM won't like. Just a thought...

Depends on where they go with her; continuing to effortlessly stomp all over our heroes is going to quickly make her a rather despised character. If the good guys are going to continuously be getting the short end of the stick, Cinder had better be working for it in the future.
Yeah, at this point, she's well across the Moral Event Horizon, so that's the best case scenario for her. That or a Heel Realization followed by a Heel–Face Door-Slam. Barring of course a twist that casts her (and perhaps also Salem) as a Well-Intentioned Extremist, which I don't think can be ruled out. Even in that scenario, Redemption Equals Death is most likely.

It's a good thing the characters are still technically kids...technically.
This might last a single year in-universe, otherwise they'd all have to die from being legal.
Kid heroes can't be kid heroes if they're adults.

Erhm, you do realize that everyone besides Ruby was 17 to start with, and it looks like about a year has passed since the start of the series? At least a few of the Kid Heros are now legally adults.

"" Rape as Drama is incredibly hard to pull off without being exploitive and/or offensive. (I'm looking at you SAO)"
and because most of time is "rape as way to bost villian creed" which many consider lazy and one ticket to make the chararter unlikable, which some show are guilty(game of thrones)
"So where is the line between hating a character and hating the creators located "
when the chararter is wasting your time, even things like hate sink have a porpuse, there is a point where you feel the plot would be better if certain chararter just die or too put it when it annoy you, granted it become subjective after a time.
with this show, Adam is rootable because he is awsome, in evil is cool kind of way, he have this edgy actitude but the skill to match it, Mercury is liked by being a douche and Roman for having style, on the other hand Cinder is not hate, she is just.....meh
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"About a year, eh?
Maybe the do that cliche where each teammate who's not the main character fall behind in the finale to reach the villain...one by one like they're sacrificing so everyone else can continue on.
Except...they won't take it back.

I mean, yeah, it can be viewed as So Bad, It's Good, and there's probably one or two series that clever enough with the writing or sufficiently self-aware that it goes from cringy to deliciously ironic, but the inherent premise is just so incredibly sexist from a modern western perspective that it's rather hard to watch.

I for example, like Highschool DXD. At least the protagonist wants a harem
@Unknowing I agree, but Cinder is a Meh that maybe will turn into a character i might dislike while Emerald, for me, is full meh

High School DXD is a harem series done right. Good plot, likable characters and it doesn't even try to pretend it's not a harem series

That's true, and i admit that most harem anime is absolutely awful in the way that it treats its characters, as well as the fact that they mostly all follow the same tropes set forth by To Love Ru.
But there are quite a few harem anime that are clever enough to pull of a well-written anime. To Love Ru (not darkness) is actually clever in the development of some of its characters, and Monster Musume is certainly incredibly well-written.

I should watch Highschool Dx D sometime.

I think there are more flavours of that. Maybe Love to Hate is one (That would be definitely be for Mercury in the future)
