Yeah, almost all your complain about tone shift can be blame to season 2, the first season is pretty much "gather the team", season 2 should have a subtle tone shift but instead it settle thing right into "light waifu series" pretty hard, not surprise the shock after all went back.

Also, the people would have a name for the whole incident? I meant we name things all the time: the 9/11,boston bombing, etc, what name they would be? the Vyle disaster?

"That time Phyrra murdered a robot child and then got ashed, while a bunch of Grimm ate people with nice hats and the edge-lord took a hand for his ex-girlfriend."

I don't know, I don't think they'd use "Battle for Beacon" because people would veto it as they'd want the fight to take it back to be called that. Maybe "The Vytal Tragedy."

Tragedy sounds a bit strong when there's only one confirmed death. What happened sucks, yeah, but it could have been way worse.

It's the Vytal Insurrection day, where our steemed leaders fought back against the Atlasi and monarchic oppresors, and guided the way for true freedom in the anarchist communes,

I think the Edge will be turned down actually (but not the seriousness) because the big plan they were working for all show is over. The death and destruction will be taking a breather.

I don't mean go back. That probably can't happen. I mean that while the tone will be serious and downbeat, it won't involve anyone dying and another city getting raised and more edge because they'll still be picking up the pieces from Vol 3.

There will be tons of fallout from 3, but I wouldn't expect any new movement from Cinder and Salem in Vol 4. Their plan for the moment is complete.

The threat level will go down, and Cinder won't be toasting anyone else for awhile.

Yeah volume 4's title theme is probably going to be about building yourself back up to fight impossible odds and will be titled "keep moving forward"

I'm absolutely certain that the fall of Beacon and the shutdown of the CCCT was only step one in their plan, the endgame of which is almost certainly the destruction of humanity itself. (Of course, given that the grimm seem to exist only to attack humanity, if they actually manage to wipe humans off the face of Remnant, they're going to be hit with the biggest Now What? ever.) That said, we don't really know what step two is, but it seems likely that their plans in season four might be on hold because Cinder got caught up in Ruby's silver-eye freeze powers. If that's the case, then I'd expect season four to have Cinder's minions trying to figure out how to free her while Ruby and company are doing their own thing in parallel.

Unfortunately, I have a hard time envisioning that actually making for a satisfying plot. Either Ruby et al realize what's up and manage to stop it, in which case the plot becomes "maintain the status quo of the Boring Invincible Villain being frozen since we can't beat her", or else they don't figure out what's happening and/or aren't able to stop it, in which case Cinder is freed at the end of the season and whatever the heroes managed to accomplish in that time is overshadowed by the villains winning yet again.

About the only interesting twist I can see being applied to that is if Ruby et al figure out what's happening and decide to free Cinder themselves so they can defeat her permanently — but I don't actually see that working, since we're supposedly still in the early days of the plot and You Can't Thwart Stage One and all.

Maybe I'm just being a pessimistic, but given what's happened so far, I honestly have a hard time envisioning the series treating Cinder in a way that doesn't make me want to bang my head against the wall.

I really don't like Cinder.

Roman is the villain we need and deserve.

ANYWHO, my Roman-ism propaganda of the day over with, what do you think happened to the other teams from the tournament? Where did SSSN, ABRN, BRNZ, etc go? Makes me wonder if any of the lesser known members of the other teams died or something...

[up]All of the other teams were shown alive at the end, so likely they went back to their home countries.

Roman actually is the best villain in the series thus far, in my opinion. He's the only one who actually has a motivation, even if it's a pretty basic one. Cinder we know nothing about why she does what she does. Emerald and Mercury seem to be along for the ride despite having no obvious reason to go along with it. (If they were shown to be coerced into it, then that could be an interesting, but there's been nothing to suggest that they aren't following Cinder willingly.) Neo we know literally nothing about. Adam seems to have been bullied into following Cinder — he told her to go to hell are first, at least, until she got her first power boost and came back — but doesn't seem to be particularly displeased with working under her (despite his men being treated like disposable cannon fodder). Maybe he's just cool with working alongside humans as long as they're killing other humans? We don't really know.

An Enemy Civil War could be an interesting wrinkle for season four, but it'd require us to know more about the people working with Cinder and what they're after. Other than Roman, no one has as-of-yet displayed any grievances with Cinder, so if any of them turn on her then they're going to have to develop an understandable reason why first.

Cinder wants power.

Emmy was promised to never go hungry again.

Merc was hired, though he probably joined because he's a dick that likes to screw with people.

Jovian: I think you are little to cynical, it seen volumne 4 will focus in know who Cinder and cia is, I dont think they will know about Salem but the more know about the villian, the sooner they can do something about it.

Now what they are going to do know is hard to said, Atlas seen the next target consider how hard they have been hit

And roman is a good villian, no doubt but he was pretty much a saturday moring villian, as season 2 let him got away too much and final battle in train was pretty lame, also Emerald is bullied into serving her as we see, Adam was bullied but many he is alone with their objective....whatever that is

That depends on the circumstances of the relationship. Is she a partner is crime doing it for the same reasons? Is she a family member or close person doing it out of loyalty to Roman regardless what the overall goal is? Both?
