The setting is not really bleak and dark
Thats the opposite of the "Anti-Dark" people... thats you guys wanting to embrace the darkness and trying to justify it as Well thats what it was always suppose to be.
The Grim are NOT the Titans okay... Humanity is not on the verge of extinction, nor are they regressed back into a technological decline.
RWBY IS NOT Attack on Titan
ITS ****ING FINAL FANTASY/Tales of Whatever
You know the worlds that are populated by overly aggressive wild life but are for the most part not that bad till the villain ****s it all up -which is exactly what has happened-
Hell while communication is down, Vale still stands only Beacon is lost due to a freaking spawn point.
You had four/five relatively safe population centers, with several nomadic/isolated communities which are mentioned/ alluded too.
Its not the Grim have beaten Humanity to the brink of extinction its Man has stood its ground against the never ending grim and is slowing taking ground... with Notable failures but is slowly making ground until some vindictive bimbo and her apprentice decided the world needed to be more ****ty.
Before you even start the VERY FIRST THING YOU SAW OF RWBY was Ruby by herself massacring a horde of Grim

Praise be to the absolute QueenAnother thing to really criticize about the sudden darkness is with the Grimm. While the Grimm are probably the only "dark" point about the series what has been there from the start, they... aren't doing their job that well. I mean, the worst they have really gotten was the story about Yang and Ruby's childhood, in Adult Fear kind of way. And even then, Qrow pops up and saves them before anything major would happen. Really, it apparently got to the point where the writers had to kill Roman (who they didn't really want to keep around) by having a Grimm kill him. In most anti-climatic way possible, thus making it completely worthless. Honestly, they really should start having a meaningful body-count some of these days.

Nope, the setting IS dark...but the narrative isnt
Humanity is a bring of extintion, there is only four reming cities and every atempt to expand have been meet with faliure, the grimm are vast, countless and with diferent shapes and so far we know nothing about it, them there is the kindoms as Atlas with their shadyness or the brotherhood who hide secret and that terrible sins Ozpin is keeping....
But the narrative dosent focus on that, it goes in how awsome the team is, school anime plot lines and super-awsome fight made by Monty, and for many that was the main apeal until the show FINALLY reveal the darkness with it, now some people are pissed at it.

"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Why do i think that Monty planned all of this? Not the story but how the fans would react. That evil Monty...
Am i the only one tired of countless complaints? Or darkness? Because frankly this is getting tiring
Because if i wanted to have a bad time, i would go play ranked in Hearthstone.

I think you are exagerating it. Humans aren't on a brink of extinction as there are plenty of them. In fact, if your theory were true, there would be barely any adults on the show

Uni catThere are has not once been anything said about Humanity on the brink of extinction, and if it has SHOW it
I'll wait
I can understand the notion... Its either WAH its TOO DARK NOW
or SEE ITS NOW FALLEN TO THE DARKNESS LIKE IT SHOULD OF FROM BEGINNING!

I dont care if the show is dark of light but I was annoyed by teasing the dark and not deliver it, the breach is biggest offender: the grimm atack the city, the group is surrender and....nothing, they just handle the Grimm just fine.....
Now they have a tone and stick to it
And humanity is corner to just four place it, while the grimm have the rest, so yeah Humanity is not doing fine, it just the show never focus on that, there is a dissonace between setting and narrative.

"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"BTW, just to expand on the "meaningful body count", I don't mean they should just start killing characters we know. It can happen in character's background. And it shouldn't just be "my friend was killed by a Grimm". It should be more like "the reason why I am acting like this is because I saw my friend get mauled by a Grimm because of my idiocy". I bet Summer killed like dozen Grimm before being shanked by some asshole.
But really, we should stop talking about stuff like this. But as a closing note, be like Senran Kagura and spread happy feels and darkness around instead of shoving it in one spot.

Only sometimes postsI'm also really tired of "Breach" being brought up every single fucking time. Can we be at least bbe less serious about RWBY? What are you all Scarred/Fascinated by the latest Finale? My sadness lasted...IDK one day perhaps.

Uni catIt's not even that many people here, it's mostly Some New Guy constantly bringing up Volume 3's finale and saying Pyrrha was stuffed in the fridge and that it was all too bleak and pointless.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? You should have seen the meltdown over Yang "breaking" Mercury's leg...
"Clearly they are gonna gun Yang down like a rabid dog and her friends will spit on her corpse!"
for someone against Dark stuff New's mind goes to weird extremes

Except AGAIN you are making up the "facts" about the setting, and since you WANT the setting to be dark, your gonna twist the unknowns to fit your view of it.
Cause 1. The Grimm must not have been an issue if the Faunus and the Humans could have full on war
2. The sheer amount of commodities that would be pointless wastes of resources -Ruby's sweet headphones and Grimm action figures
3. You not understanding the difference between a CITY and KINGDOM which again goes back to the whole RWBY =/= SNK stop thinking it is.

in my case I just love the despair and darkness the finalle brought to us, seen all the complain and denial....it was glorious to behold, truly glorious
And yes, I keep bringing Breach to this since is part of the problem, season 2 was bad and it failed in making a proper tone transition, so this volumne come as sudden and without warning.

"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"It is a Tales game. Seriously you could rename it Tales of Remnant and make transforming weapons the gimmick of the game and you've got a Tales game.
Right down to the random encounter monsters that are a serious problem and tend to keep people holed up in their towns....unless you've got any decent combat ability and then they're of relatively little threat.
The Grim are not a Faction...
They are like the Zombies in World War Z -the book not the movie-
They are akin to a force of Nature that you can't ever truly get rid of but have to deal with the rest of your life.
Praise be to the absolute QueenAs far as dark themes goes, RWBY is honestly pretty light compared to even most Shonen, even Naruto or One Piece.
Watch SymphogearI don't really care about everything going dark. I'm pretty fine with it now that I've realized the possibilities and come to terms with it.
But the pacing of the shift, my gosh...
But why get rid of Roman? He's still a competent villain, given that he could lay a good beat down on Ruby. Well, there is the fact that he's extremely well liked for a villain... I'll miss that guy.
...
I'm sympathetic. It's probably shocking and upsetting if a viewer that thought RWBY was a cute girl action show, which to be honest to casual viewers, is what it appeared to be for a long time. It was like that for 2 and half seasons and unless you followed Monty or the other staff's twitters and stuff and believed that "It's gonna get darker guys really" comments you'd have no idea this was coming.
Bitching about it endless won't help though. If you don't want this kind of show then just walk away. There's plenty of other stuff to watch.
"The Grim are not a Faction..."
Salem said otherwise.
"Right down to the random encounter monsters that are a serious problem and tend to keep people holed up in their towns....unless you've got any decent combat ability and then they're of relatively little threat. "
Again, that is narrative, nothing stop it for being les said...RE 2 for example.

Yeah, fuck Phyrra, #Roman Or Burn!
I was THIS close to belive it was never going to happen, yeah they teaste over and over in songs and stuff but, it seen so far away that it seen bluffing, so yeah I can understand why people would complain about it.

"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"It's darker than we thought it'd be, it ain't that dark, people bitching about the darkness or withing it was AOT are annoying. Damn, I can't believe I miss dRoy's perving over the female characters, instead of this.
