"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"So this is unrelated to the thread but i just saw a few videos of miles playing with the Game Grumps. Hilariously a lot of funny shit happened to him (blame ross) I would even dare to say he received "Divine Retribution" (Given everyone blames him and Kerry for the last finale, even though Monty should be the one)
I might get ahead, but how are they planning to do in vol. 4 finale? I don't expect them to top what they did with the last one

Uni catAnother kingdom falling next volume would be moving waaaaaaaaayyy too fast. Say what you will about the pacing of the plot for the first 3 volumes, but it took time for CRMEN to set all the pieces in place.

But atlas is already in trouble, grimm are on the losse, and the population already distrust Atlas after the whole Penny issue, Cinder only need to rise out the discontent against goverment of Atlas a little longer, maybe exposing the dirt of Schnee company? while everyone is tacking each other....you strike and BAM, one city falls and another maiden is yours
The Grimm are loose in Beacon only. Sure, Vale is under threat, but the other Kingdoms? Not so much.
Are people really going to take Cinder seriously when they find out she overran Beacon with Grimm? Not at all, methinks. Clearly, she's just trying to incite anarchy to destroy places and overrun them with Grimm.
I mean the seriousness was always there. The very first thing we see is a morose Ruby chopping up monsters in a graveyard in the first teaser, and the opening narration is really ominous (and now we know why). You could tell things were always gonna get serious. Heck in Volume 2's Climax team Rwby gets pretty much thrashed, although they manage to save the day thanks to backup from everyone else.
But it was too much too fast. In about 4 episodes 3 major characters died (one of which Penny barely did anything before getting offed so if she's really gone for good it was a massive waste, and doesn't even serve as a good sacrifice because a much more major character died soon after), another was changed permanently, and the main setting was lost, and the teams switched up. Basically everything the show advertises itself as is gone now.
Which is especially jarring since nothing much happens in the first two volumes but wacky antics and cool fights. 1 in particular comes to almost a complete stall after the teams are all established at the halfway point, and all that happens in the second half is we find out Blake is a Faunus (something most people already figured out) meet Penny and the finale is busting up a random dock crime by Torchwick that only 2 of the main characters are present for.
2 is a little better at stuff actually happening, and it forshadows 3 alot, but still there's a whole lot of not much happening, although the finale actually does feel important this time.
The release schedule probably doesn't help, as we only get 12ish episodes a year, and it doesn't seem paced for that kind of release schedule.
Although it's funny. Dead Fantasy did a similar thing. It was fall fun and games and cool flashy fights where nobody got hurt for the first few episodes, and then all of a sudden Tifa gets the shit rather violently kicked out of her and they started flashing back to Aerith's grave and things started to get dark. And then Monty got hired by Rooster Teeth and it was left forever hanging. But RWBY is going in what looks like a similar direction.
Personally though, I'd have paced the seriousness out more. Maybe have one of the deaths at the end of vol2, or move Beacon's loss til Vol4. Since it was too much too quickly IMO.
I completely agree.
Everything moved WAY too fast. We've grown to care for the world and characters of the show and Volume 3 basically pulled a Kano and ripped our hearts out. There was only like three or four fights, most involving RWBY, JNPR and SSSN's fights were overshadowed by comic relief and then midway through everything gets dark. Pyrrha is asked to be the Fall Maiden, Yang attacks Mercury, and things just spiral. Penny dies, Cinder enacts her plans and everything is thrown into chaos.
It happened too quick too soon. Winter and Qrow show up, but we barely get to know anything about them other than they work with Ozpin and they get little if any interaction with their loved ones. There was so much new stuff introduced and we barely saw any of it. Hell, even the finale introduced something new we had no idea about AND killed off Pretty Pyrrha!
You can't get it wrong if it's the truth! My plan for volume 4: intro: so the volume starts with Grimm massacring a village (head canon music: thing theme). Then cuts to brief scene of Weiss arguing with her father and yang angsting (can't think of good headcanon music). Then cut to vale where white fang members played by the original six rooster teeth members are moving out. Blake attacks them in a style similar to batman stealth taking out a few then taking out the rest head on. (Head canon music: I think you. Should do as he says from arkham city). Blake takes the commander up to the roof and threatens to throw him off if he doesn't tell Adams location. The mook( voiced by the guy who plays Simmons ) agrees and Blake knocks him out. Then cut to title sequence
All I see I conquer
"Grimm masacring a village". Keep dreaming ![]()
Well yes, it looks like our character deaths didn't have their intended impact on us or at least on me. My opinion so far
Penny was a big Meh given that she could be rebuilt at any momrnt (and they better have a very giod excuse to not do it)
Roman was a "That's it?". Yes i know, glorified Mook Lieutenant but still, i still hate how they teased a deeper character for him only to immediately yank the chain.
And Pyrrha? The only one with decent build up but it feels like a big waste for a reason i can't explain until the series makes progress because, as of now, she looks definitely gone

Uni catContinuing on, Cinder and Salem talk about their plans and we get our first clue as to what their motives are. Cinder then meets back up with her minions. Adam is still acting like a stalker, Mercury is in good spirits, Emerald has regrets, and Neo is being mistreated by everyone but emerald. We then cut to qrow in the middle of a bar brawl. He wins. We then cut to one of Jaune's dreams where he almost saves phyrra but doesn't. He wakes up and he and Ruby have a talk that is interrupted by Nora. We then get a montage of RJNR walking
All I see I conquerPart 3: We see a VTOL heading to the sdc mansion. A group of soldiers surround the landing craft and team FNKI comes out they beat up the guards and infiltrate the mansion. They then head to Weiss's room and it is revealed she hired them to help her escape. Just as they reach the VTOL Her dad and a squad of soldiers show up. Weiss uses a summon to hold them off and she and team FNKI get on board the vtol.
All I see I conquerY'know, I can handle Penny dying, I can handle Yang getting disarmed, I can somewhat handle Pyrrha dying, I can even handle Breaking the Fellowship and Ozpin's fight getting mostly offscreened.
But what I cannot handle, is Roman Torchwick being confirmed as dead dead.
What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade."but the other Kingdoms? Not so much."
Atlas have take a heavy punch to the nose thanks to cinder, also nobody know about her so far, so clearly she have advantage over the rest.
"The Maidens are not kingdom specific, they might as well live in the woods."
For narrative convinice with four mofit around, four maidens=four kindoms.
"The very first thing we see is a morose Ruby chopping up monsters in a graveyard in the first teaser, and the opening narration is really ominous (and now we know why). You could tell things were always gonna get serious. Heck in Volume 2's Climax team Rwby gets pretty much thrashed, although they manage to save the day thanks to backup from everyone else."
At first them the rest of the trailer is this perky goth killing the monster left and right in awsome sequence, and breach almost runi the show for me since it should introduce darkness or dread and instead give us this childish happy ending, making everything so far more jarring.
But overall you are right, the light fun last waaaaay to long and the dark came almost out of notwhere, Miles and Kerry have a SERIOUS issue in foreshadowing or droping hints.
" Winter and Qrow show up, but we barely get to know anything about them other than they work with Ozpin and they get little if any interaction with their loved ones"
That isnt so bad actually, is clear they will devolpt into volume 4(Weiss in Atlas, Qrow follow RNJR) they where just enought for RWBY.
About penny....I will mantain that she has to be tie into Maiden, otherwise bring her back is just a wasted and to bend the plot in order to happen.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I KNOW there were more teams than that.
And on the Penny thing: I honestly believe that she's still "alive" in the sense that her Aura/Soul is still in her body. Personally, I think she's in a shutdown/power-save mode. Which would make sense, because, iirc, many types of machines have that.

Penny definitely will come back. We still need to learn how she came to exist in the first place
I suppose it has something to do with the death of someone and transfering her soul to Penny, effectively giving her emotions and the ability to use Aura.
Now, if that's true, that its one way of getting out Pyrrha back. I first need to see the After show to see what Miles and Kerry said about all of this
