Not a full on Cosmic Horror Story, but maybe some Lovecraft Lite.
I take objection to that. The bad part at least. Who knows where the series is going to go in terms of tone from here on out.

Yue has moon relate powers/is a moon princess, and can Colony Drop small chunks of the moon on her enemies.

The series is already Lovecraft Lite.
From the Main page:
- Lovecraft Lite: Bizarre, gibbering monsters of unknown origins and unknown motivations wage war on humanity, which are sequestered in four little pinpricks of safety, barely able to break out of this siege. What do we get out of this dark tale? Four Action Girls ready to stab the monsters in the face!
Also, yes. You seriously sound like you want to make RWBY a bad darkfic.

Nah. Bloodborne is Lovecraft Lite. None of the Grimm encountered thus far have nearly enough tentacles for that to be the case.
Characters dying left in right isn't Dark Fic material, it's basically what the latter half of volume 3 was. I'm merely speculating what might happen if they intend to maintain that tone.

... Dude, what? Bloodborne is something that would make Lovecraft blush.

The mere fact that you can fight (and kill!) the unspeakable horrors from beyond the stars in that game rather than just going insane and running away is what makes it Lovecraft Lite.
From the trope page:
"Since part of the definition of the Cosmic Horror Story is that mankind has no chance at even comprehending the hideous Truth of the universe, let alone fighting it; any series where someone can defeat Eldritch Abominations is closer to Lovecraft Lite than Cosmic Horror Story."

K then. Also, most series with Eldritch Abominations in them count as Lovecraft Lite then. Because you can kick their ass. Hell, I've killed Cthulhu in D&D (it took a lot of effort, but I managed to give him a Cessation of Existence. Sadly, the Mindflayers were able to rise up, and now we've got to deal with them)
Anywhoo, anyone got any theories on character development next Volume? I mean serious answers, not Cap's bad darkfic ideas
Hopefully we'll get some Ren and Nora development.

Possible storylines that Vol. 4 might cover:
- Team RNJR exploring mistral.
- Weiss hijinks in Atlas.
- Blake supposed alliance with Glynda
- Yang goes get a new arm and goes after her mother.
- Zwei sleeping on the sofa
Sure. But you theories are nothing but pure darkness. Have a heart bro

Uni cat@Cap: I'm not going to argue that it would have been seen as that, yes. However, there's a difference between shit hitting the fan and "everyone suffers forever because I'm a member of the Gen Urobuchi school of writing"
Not if you don't pothole Humor Mode or Sarcasm Mode. Poe's Law and all that

Not really, it was never intended to be for kids, it just got a Periphery Demographic among children. I wonder how that demographic reacted to season 3.
You do realize I'm sometimes joking or offering worst case scenarios when I'm speculating about the series future right?

I wouldn't be so shaken up over Pyrrha's death if she wasn't a main character and I didn't get to like her since literally the start of the show.
Case in point. If you're still shaken after a fictional character's death in a web series, then that's some damn fine writing.
And ship sinking.
And heart crushing.
Ahem.
You can't get it wrong if it's the truth!@Nocturne: Well, anyway, in the hypothetical scenario where I was in creative control of the show, I wouldn't go nearly as far as some of the spitballing I've done. Things would get a bit brighter for a while in the aftermath of the first three volumes, though from here on out, no secondary character would be safe. The main cast would suffer one additional death around season 7, though there would be scares and suffering (from adversity rather than Cosmic Plaything stuff), and while the finale would briefly tease the prospect of a Total Party Kill, it would not come to fruition, and the ending would be of the Earn Your Happy Ending variety for those characters that made it that far.

So the aftershow is on...
The Locker stuff with Cardin was just to establish them for the scene with Pyrrha...
IT was set up from DAY 1
Praise be to the absolute Queen

Don't tell me you want to make RWBY into a Cosmic Horror Story just because the moon is destroyed because then i will expect everyone to die horribly.
I blame saitama
